Lady Aryana of the Seelie

Magz woke from a nap, shaking her blazing feathers. She looked about the room, curiously. It seemed everyone was getting along well since she had closed her eyes. Even the shy one, Corel. A sweet girl.
Her eyesmdrifted around the room, taking in the varied amounts of activity. Her eyes feel on the glum looking Ratchet. After a moment of consideration, she flew to his shoulder.
"Are you alright? Want to talk about it?" she asked softly, concerned.

Ratchet: ((((OOC: who shall from here on be named Abram (a scottish boys name meaning "high father" btw...) ))))

Abram sighed heavily as Magz tried to comfort him; he looked wearily into her eyes and smiled. In his eyes was a dullness like a man whose eyes long ago had given up the will to look on at a world it no longer recognized. He sighed again and then nodded to himself.

"I hate this. I am so tired, I'm sitting among legends and myths now real and the most I have done is called a little wind... and damn it! I have been lost in all this! What the hell do us mortals do in a struggle amongst titans?! I feel useless and unimportant... A man must go on struggling with only what he can do with his own two hands and the scope of his vision. My hands? HA! they can't haul tons like Finita! My scope of mind?! I don't even understand half of any of this let alone my role in it! I've been mired in so much mystery the science has been lost the reason drowned out and the path to a resolution has been completely obscured. It's not as if event's have calmed either; they only escalate. We are obviously all being manipulated by a game plan between forces either too scared or too proud or uncaring to even tell us the rules of engagement or give amnesty to the ineffectual outsiders in this grand scheme. It's frustrating beyond belief to be tossed about like a nameless extra by fates winds. You tell me! Do you see any real purpose in me even being among you all here? Have I done any good?"

Abram had been holding in much and now whether because of the random nature of the human heart or by the insistence of friends he was beginning to unload. But as he explored and expressed his own feelings of inadequacy and spoke his fears of being a useless mortal of little significance he felt not an uplifting of his burdensome anxiety but a deepening of it. Magz and the others in the room with him felt a deep chill and slowly almost going unnoticed at first; (like the moment when one makes water slowly boil so the lobsters don't notice) there came a gloom that fell amidst them. The lights dimming and the air chilling more and more, it escalated as the room began to fill with deeper and deeper darkness. Soon it was so cold the very nerves of anyone in the room were beginning to numb and even the light from the phoenix would not be able to be seen. all that one could sense were the words of angst and bitterness flowing from Abram ... they could all sense too deep within themselves that the source of this was Abram himself. His terrible depressed state was hopelessly entwined in the very fabric of the darkness so oppressively blanketing them all....

As I sat there cradling Corel to myself, I heard Abram finally start to unload all his worries and fears to Magz. As he spoke, rather loudly at the frustrations of being a human among myths and monsters, the room started to dim, and darken, and all the warmth of the lights seemed to fade. Last thing I saw was my breath start to steam up before all went black. I curled my tails around me and Corel, to protect the sleeping girl from the chill. I knew this spell. Attract Darkness.

Then things went silent as he finished speaking.

Finita suddenly cursed loudly. I-I-I h-hate the c-c-cold! W-who t-turned o-o-out the l-l-lights? W-w-what d-d-d-d-devilry i-i-i-is t-t-t-t-this?!? The crimson Minotauress swore through chattering teeth.

Abram! I called, thankful of my long fur. Abram, you're doing this! Please, it's cold and dark. Some of us can't handle the cold that well! Please, make the light return. Please.

Micheal reeled a little. That was unexpected. However they were trying to bring the races back, yes? It made sense. Still, this could hamper the girls to be with child and face these monsters. This were just getting more complicated by the second.
"Estelle. Let's try to keep this on the down low, till we get everyone in a relatively safe place. Please? Now might not be the best time." He glanced back at Cecelia. "I don't know how the siren might react for one."

Magz tightened her talons on Abram's shoulder. Her flames burned fiercer as the darkness grew, though she did her best not to burn the boy. However, she was not going to condone a tantrum.
"Abram! Stop this at once!" she scolded. "For one so useless, you seem to be doing a awful lot. Look around!" Her grip became a bit tighter. "Get a hold on yourself!" After a pause she gentled. "Feeling sorry for yourself isn't going to help anyone. We need you more than you realize."

Abrams eyes flickered... to his perspective all was normal the lights shone maybe dull a bit but he had no idea what the others were screaming on about. And now Magz had chided him for complaining as he finally pours his heart out? He had no idea the transformations of these women could also make them so callous. What was he doing? They had to be mocking him at worst and trying to inflate his feeling of belonging at best. He was just trying to unload he didn't need to be pacified like a child. If his emotions radiated depression before they burned with rage and confusion now! The darkness quickly vanished replaced by a violent and whipping wind just moments before a violent sphere of fire enveloped Abram. The two forces entwined around him now the accelerated air feeding the magical barrier of fire before he looked at Magz with an angry and hurt expression. His body glowed violently as she was launched away with such incredible force she nearly hit the wall on the far side of the room.

"Really?! What am I doing now?! Talking is bad now?! You want my silence too?!"

He wanted to hide now... after all the crazy that had been going on in this place they didn't even want to take a moment to listen.... the concrete from the very basement warped below them unnoticed at first as it launched through the floors to join the sphere of violent magic as that was the only thing this could be. Soon there after anything from copper wires to metal filings to steel supports got sucked in and added to it at first seeming to make an impassable shell... then in a flash the hodgepodge of materials also melted and fused to the mass of magical force turning it from a fire barrier to a lava barrier before it reached critical mass producing the force of a minute star fission event with Abram at its center. It went from being black and cold as death to so hot and blinding it was like standing near the sun at the first brief moments where it was a pure event of heat and potential before exploding into its star form...

I blinked and and lifted a sleeve, starting to sneeze as I smelt the sudden and intense stench of magic. What...?

There, the lights returned, but now his fury was being sent at Magz. I watched him launch her across the room as around him formed a defensive amalgam of at least four different spells. Possibly more. Soon the light was blinding as I covered my eyes.

Why was he not seeing...? Oh, right, he can see through his defenses, as he could see through the shadows he had called.

Finita bellowed in pain and confusion at the sudden change from dark and cold to hot and blinding. She lifted her hands and shielded her eyes, turning away and trying to blink away the spots in her eyes.

That's like looking at the sun! Oh god, what the hell!?

I scooted over and offered the sleeping Corel to Finita. She took the sleeping girl and gently lay the girl against her, letting her scale-mail coat and bulk shield the sleeping girl's eyes from the harsh light. I reached into my pack and pulled out a pair of sunglasses to shield my eyes from the harsh light.

I glanced around, the softness of my silken kimono swishing about me. There! A mirror on the wall. I carefully navigated over to it through the harsh light and harsh shadows formed by Abram's forceful barrier.

I took it off the wall and approached the barrier with the furious and defensive Abram inside. Even with the sunglasses I still couldn't look directly at it.

Abram... calm down. Calm down and listen to me. Please? I hefted the mirror, flashing back the view he couldn't see of the small fiery star he was standing in. He could tell clearly that it wasn't an illusion... the mirror facing directly at him. The mirror flashed brightly at him, a vision of molten star-fire.

Can you see? Look. This is what you're doing. This is why we need you, Abram. You ca-- ... I bit my tongue hard. I almost... almost said too much. I spoke on, choosing my words more carefully this time, despite the pain of my tongue. The wind was just the beginning. You're standing inside of a defensive star. Is that not proof to you enough that you have a purpose among us?

I stood down the star, my tails waving. He could have done this before, before he was reborn. And he's doing it now. My god. He really was holding back, back then. What had he been training me to become?

~~~
Estelle lifted a finger to respond, before her black eyes bugged out of her head. She turned away and started to sneeze, violently, extremely violently, as if a ton of black pepper had been shoved up her nose. With each sneeze it got worse, before she was knocked off her feet and sent almost bouncing across the sands by the sheer force of them.
Olivia returned her beloved’s embrace tightly and lovingly as the screams and stardust of their court swirled around them, clinging to him as though she would never let go. The only sign of her shell-shocked state was the trembling that shook her petite frame. Otherwise, she appeared outwardly calm and cool, if not a little stiff.
“The night fell upon us too soon” Olivia whispered in response, tears flowing silently and unheeded down her cheeks while she gazed at Oberon with an aching heart.
“This isn’t right; evil is not supposed to prevail. The flowers of spring and new hope are still sleeping…”. The queen of the Fae lamented in her snowy soft voice, fluttering her wings amidst the glitter.
“Our court is Always. We are the everlasting, never fading…” her breath misted the air, as her tears turned to ice beads and shattered upon the hard floor. She continued to murmur words, reverent, sounding almost like a prayer, her eyes never leaving her husband’s. “We are the eternal youth…time cannot touch us...The Faeries will always live on. My beloved, my darling….let us be together, for the love of Eternity…Everlasting flowers that do not wither…” She was speaking vows, said long ago.
Everything had been relatively calm inside the medical bay, despite the monsters roaming outside it and Helena had just finished the smelling salts and put them into a sealed vial, when things took a sharp turn towards the insane. Her snakes hissed in fear and confusion as Abram started ranting to Mags, the little sparrow sized firebird perched on his shoulder and she realised that he had been bottling up a lot more things that she previously thought. Helena frowned and slithered away from him a bit, sensing danger as her snakes picked up on pheromones he emitted. If he could have come to her for a nice aromatherapy session and a massage and unloaded some of those worries and fears, perhaps she would have been able to help. But now it seemed they were going to come exploding out in violence, and she cringed at their intensity, feeling both sorry for and annoyed at Abram. Honestly, this was no way for a proper adult to behave.
And then things went cray cray. Helena shivered and curled in on herself when the temperature nose dived, curling up to the nearest warm body for heat. She had learned the hard way that she’d die if she became too cold and she had no wish to exit out of this world just yet. She wrapped her arms around the torso of the person, another female…her snakes’s tongues and Jacobsen’s organs sent back information that it was Shikoba she’d snuggled up to but she was too frightened by Abram’s darkness manifestation to speak, and uttered nothing but soft frightened hisses from time to time.
Then things got incredibly hot and bright, and it was blinding after the eyes had barely gotten used to the darkness. She let go of Shikoba and instead grabbed the girl’s hand and pulled her away from the heat source and light, her eyes shut behind her dark shades, and her other senses telling her where to go. She headed out of the room, into the hallway, wanting to get as far away from the heat that seared her sensitive snake body as she possibly could.
((Good thing Corel’s already passed out lol))
Coral took in the other woman’s appearance thoughtfully as she introduced herself. Then she spoke up again.
“Well Rakia, as thanks for what you have done for us and because you bear such a message of importance, I’d like to invite you to come stay with us, back at the palace. I happen to be the queen of the Mer, so I hope that answers your question” She winked playfully at Rakia, before sucking water through her teeth. “Hmmm, that little bit of news you shared doesn’t sound too good to me. We better talk about it!”
The queen said, confidently and without a trace of fear. In fact, she almost sounded cheerful as she said it, though her gaze was gentle as it trailed over Rakia. “Dear, you look like you’ve been through a maelstrom. Come back with us, rest up and relax and then we’ll do some talking” She then released the girl’s hand and began to swim away, before she paused and made some soft whistles and clicking noises.
A moment or two passed before a group of shadows appeared in the oceans blue depths. They swam closer and closer and then they were upon the group, a number of dolphins, calling and squeaking loudly as they swam to the Mer. One of them swam up to the queen and nuzzled at her as she petted it and spoke to it in a watery yet elegant language of clicks and squeaks. The dolphin then swam over to Rakia, and turned on its side, uttering a friendly series of chatter.
“We’ll go back via dolphin; it’s fun, and they’re really fast” Coral chimed, grinning from ear to ear. “That one there is Wavedancer, my good friend and leader of her pod. She says it would be her pleasure to allow you a quick trip back to the palace” Coral smiled, as she swam over to another dolphin and wrapped her arms around it, holding on gently yet firmly. There was nothing quite as invigorating as the rush of dolphin riding or surfing the sea’s currents.
***
Still asleep in Finita's arms, Corel shifted and mumbled in her sleep, shivering when the room grew cold, then squirming and moaning softly when it changed to too hot. Sweat made her clothes cling to her and she kicked and wriggled a little, as though trying to get comfortable by pushing off too many blankets. "...Dolphin riding!" Corel gasped, sounding almost delighted, before whining again in discomfort, strands of fawn brown hair clinging to her sweaty face.
Meyaira Firespring
Obreon held her close in return, holding her gaze. He was strong, at this moment, and for a moment it was like nothing could break him or his strength. His gaze was soft with love as he looked into her eyes.
As the seasons spin, winter to summer, spring to fall, we are eternal. He said softly, speaking the vows he had made to her, all that time ago. Together, we will guard the seasons, and each other, till the end of time. Let us be together, for the love of Eternity... Everlasting Flowers that do not wither...
He finished and kissed her gently, and in Titania's arms, he was like a pillar of strength, like the greatest oak in the forest.
A cry rose up over the panicked screams. It was sharp in the pair's ears, a voice they would hear no matter the cacophony. A voice, rose into both a roar of rage and scream of pain; a voice like Oberon's. Puck. He had met his fate at the hands of the possessed Merlin Alfer. They both knew it.
Obreon looked upon Titania sadly.
My love. Obreon whispered, the mood shattered. There may be hope. We cannot stop the death, but the fox. She's our key. Can you do something for me beloved? Your memory... I need you to give your memory to the fox. Titania knew what he referred too. Her memory... what humans called a soul. He was asking Titania to give her soul to Rakia.
~~~

The crimson siren smiled warily before wrapping her arms about Wavedancer. She gave the dolphin a quiet 'thank you' before her and the dolphin swam off after the group of mer and the dolphins carrying them.

It wasn't long as they raced through the waters that they reached the Mer Capital: The mer city known as Encanter. It was set at the perfect depth to see sunlight during the day, but it was inkily dark at night; stone buildings seemed to perfectly meld with one another in what seemed to be a series of underwater towers, with all of them encrusted with clams and mussels and barnacles. The inner rooms were lit up with soft glowing lamps made with bio-luminescent algae.

It was beautiful. It was always the most beautiful thing Coral had ever seen... the city always took her breath away when she saw it. And she loved it so...

((Announcement: I am going to make stuff up. Lemme know if you want me to change it))

Hearing his request, Titania smiled, her hands moving to grab his hand and squeeze it lovingly as she pressed it against her cheek. She understood what he was asking and she knew the price was heavy, "Of course. Anything for you". Titania agreed. Kissing the back of his fingers, she released his hand and flew swiftly to Rakia's side.

"Rakia, please, I must give you a gift. I, no, we, want you to have my memories. All of them. They will help you. Not now but in the future. But I have no time to explain!" her words were hurried, yet clear as crystal. They cut through the noise and echoed in the palace ballroom.

Taking her hand, she placed three fingers over her heart and the other hand raised to her right temple, her pointer finger and ring finger pressed to it as she closed her eyes and began to chant in Fae language; a Sylvan, flowing lilt. A glacial bluish light began to collect on the tips of her fingers. She withdrew them, a tiny orb now balanced on the tips of her nails. As she withdrew the hand over her heart an orb, like a hollow ball of glass, was cupped in her hand. Inside the orb swirled essences of all the different seasons, tiny snow flurries, autumn leaves, spring flowers and summer sunshine encapsulated togerther in a harmonious symphony. “This will be our last gift to you. You are the key” Titania smiled at the kitsune woman, despite her growing weakness. Lifting the hand with the bead of glacial light above the season sphere, she uttered one sacred word. “Hope!”

The bead dropped like a dew drop into the orb, which instantly began to glow with angelic light. Titania placed the orb in the kitsune’s hands, before she weakened and fell to the iced floor, eyes blank and staring into nothingness. Her memories, and her soul, were now in the hands of their would-be saviour.

***

They reached Encanter in what seemed like no time at all, and the queen was still grinning ear to ear, partly from the rush of dolphin riding and partly because she had someone new to play with. Looking at her beloved city that housed her people and all her favourite things, Coral felt her heart swell with both love and pride. She would do anything to protect them and keep them happy and well. She would do anything to preserve and look after the wonderful place they called home. Swimming over to the dolphin that had carried Rakia, she gently petted it and with clicks, whines and whistles she thanked them all in dolphin language before they happily swam off to play and find fish.

She then raised a hand and beckoned to her guest to follow her into the palace. Its otherwise intimidating stature was softened by its beauty and enchanting decorations of swirling spires and carved, flowering coral, and the reams of colorful fish and sea life that lived on, in and around it.

"Come on, it's this way! I can't wait to show you the palace. I'm sure you'll love it. And we'll get you something to eat as well" she announced, leading the way in. She swam ahead, leading them through corridors and past rooms. Though the palace was large, Coral knew every inch of it, every twist and turn. She soon lead them through a curtain of seaweed and into a private meeting room, where she would listen to what Rakia had to say. The floor was covered with powdery white sand out of which grew spongy corals and undersea plants that were as bouncy and velvety as a couch or squishy armchair - in rainbow hues. Shells embellished the coral walls while tiny sea horses and silvery fish drifted and flitted around.

Two mermaid servants swam into the private room barely seconds after the queen had arrived and bowed before their queen. "Welcome home my queen" "What can we do for you, my queen?"

Coral wasted no time as she gave them orders to bring a fine meal into the room for her guest, and some snacks for everyone else. She took a seat upon one of the flat, green water plants, her pink scales glittering as she curled her tail gently to one side.

"I hope you like sea food" she smiled at Rakia, teasing a little.

***

Out in the hallway, Helena continued to travel, not sure if Shikoba's hand was still grasped in hers. She was frightened, annoyed, extremely concerned about Abram and many other things. For now, all she wanted to do was to get away, to somewhere safer - at least marginally. Without really thinking it through, she found herself headed back to the observation room where she had left her handbag with her phone. She needed to hear a familiar voice, wanted to call her loved ones now more than ever. Just in case. This might be the last time they ever heard from her, or she ever heard their voices. And she had to let them know...to put them at ease. She couldn't leave them worrying. She wanted to call her parents and Isaac and her work colleagues, and she wanted to do it now!
