❄ Storyline

❄ The year is 4081, the world we know now is much different than it was two thousand years ago. The sun is only visible for five hours a day, nights last nineteen hours. The seasons have changed as well, summer is now in December, the fall in March, the winter by June, and spring by September. Cities have expanded to nearly every surface of the planet, food is grown in skyscrapers throughout the world. Everyone has small robotic companions, these androids are our friends, and have an amazing replication of emotions. They have thoughts of their own, along with morals and values. Technology has advanced much faster than anyone expected; throughout most of the world people walk, since everything most people need is within reach. Other forms of transportation include flight, subway, and undersea vessels. Humans have evolved, their strides are ten times faster than humans whom lived one thousand years ago, and beyond that, humans have become less organic.

❄ Humans now have codes, these codes are our identification, our memory, our heath, our entire being. These codes erased many disorders and diseases, since our genetics had converted into data, any flaws or imperfections could be corrected easily. But, a new form of disease struck the world in the year 4078, a virus spread rapidly through systems, corrupting data files. Human codes were being tampered with, erasing memory, causing illness, turning minds into nothing. The disease has no completed treatments or cures, people infected only get sicker until they die of illness or suicide, in some cases the mind gets so corrupted the individual forgets how to breathe and they suffocate. The government issued that research be done immediately, they harvested many infected and non-infected individuals with no families left. A few years into it they made a break.

❄ They made a vaccine, though incomplete, it immune the healthy individuals of the virus when it was injected into them. But something else happened to those individuals, they gained powers, they could delete codes completely. It seemed as though the humans became the virus itself when exposed to the vaccine. They could erase people from exsistance, delete them from everyones memory. It took a few months for the researchers to realize this, the rooms of unknown experiments were full of things, but there were no records of such person being there. Once they realized what had been done, the researchers tried to destroy the vaccine and the individuals infected with it. All attempts failed.

❄ One month ago the corrupted individuals began to escape, they were untraceable. They were unleashed into the world, after spending years inside being poked, probed, and tested on. The government had no idea what these corrupted might do in the world with their new found powers. But it was much more worrisome than any disease or natural disaster that struck the world. They are free, and no one is safe. The Mayors and Governors are trying to do all they can to recapture the corrupted, offering rewards of substantial amounts of money. The corrupted hide amongst society keeping their corrupted identity a secret to keep their freedom.

Valeria Snow & Selestina

╔══════════════╗

Valeria awoke late that day, with the nights so long she never really knew when she should sleep. The groggy woman begrudgingly rolled out of bed, opening the curtains to let light into her apartment. On her way to the closet she rolled her companion over with one finger. "Selestina, awake from sleep mode." the alertness in her voice commanded the small android, and without hesitation the little girl arose and floated towards her.

"Good morning Valeria, the time is Nine A.M, the weather is sunny no chance of precipitation high of 81 low of 76. And I think you should wear the pink dress today, it is very spring timey." Selestina spoke with her adorable little voice. She grabbed the pink dress she spoke of and held it up to her friend. "See, very attractive. If you want to meet people you should look attractive." the woman giggled a bit at her companion.

"Yes Selestina, I know. Thank you I will wear this one." Valeria began to dress as the android started to comb and style her hair. "Nothing too stuffy today please, I don't want anyone to think I am a stiff." Selestina rolled her eyes.

"Please Valeria, I've known you since you were thirteen, I know what to do with your hair my dear. Now for breakfast, there is a nice little cafe up the block on level 37. I am sure you can meet someone nice there. If not you'll at least have the pleasure of a good coffee." Valeria smiled and slipped on her flats. Her friend finished with her hair and they were out the door. The woman lived on level 197, that was almost at the top. The wealthier you were the higher up you lived, as for businesses it was a mater of what you did, and how big the company was. The woman liked to eat at places on lower ranges, they always had the best food.

The young woman left her apartment walking alont the elevated sidewalks, crossing from building to building like bridges, separating the levels with ease. Selestina floated closely beside her. Valeria made her way to the glass elevator on the outside of one of the restaurant buildings, pressing 37 on the thin panel. She reached the floor quite quickly, easily finding it she walked onto the patio then inside. She ordered a paper, coffee, and a few pastries. She took a seat and started to read the paper. "You know Selestina, the digital copies of the paper are nice but nothing feels as good as real paper." They had started to print on actual paper again, with the corrupted deleting people physical evidence was the only thing that was safe.

Taking a sip of her drink she noticed the article on the Corrupted escapees. She couldnt help but to smile a little. Having outsmarted the researchers so easily was any corrupted's personal triumph. But her smiled turned to a frown when she noticed how terribly the portrayed them. Like they were evil monsters, if anything they were the victims. We were kidnapped! They tested us like animals! They destroyed us and we are being portrayed as the monsters!? she gritted her teeth, as she thought. She read it further, the mayor was going to authorize the capture of any corrupted, offering a hefty amount of cash for each one. Things were getting serious, the papers were one thing but a bounty would be on their heads soon. It didn't even mater if you would use your power. Valeria's throat got tight she couldn't go back, she worked so hard to escape. Selestina looked at her human companion and noticed she was distressed.

"Valeria? What's wrong my dear?" the small companion asked quite concerned. "Look" The lady whispered pointing to the line about the new bounty for corrupted. Selestina frowned and patted her friend's hand softly. "Don't worry, you will be ok I promise."

▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔

"Wake up Lorena," said a voice from afar. A distant place which didn't concern Lorena much right now. "WAKE UP YOU WRETCH!" came the voice louder now, crisper and much more angrier. A soft moan came from the woman as she turned over, stuffing the pillow over her head to block out the small sprite.

Now agitated to the brink of rage, the boy pulled his bangs from his eyes and huffed. If she wasn't going to wake up now- he'd have to do it himself. But then again, would it really matter now? Another soft moan came from the woman as seconds ticked by, he did not have much time now. He plopped his small frame on top of the pillow and shook his head, 'this is what I do now...instead of being what I am supposed to be...here I am waking up this lazy wretch,' yet another moan from Lorena. "You asked for it," stated the small violet-haired sprite as he began to transform into a larger 5'6" male sitting on top of a woman.

She began to stir, like someone coming from a coma, a small smirk coming to Dresius as he remained stagnant. More stirring, until eventually a muffled screaming. The smile began to grow as well, Dresius nearly laughing to bits. Finally, the woman had pulled herself from the pillow prison and stared wide-eyed at Dresius. "WHAT IN THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT FOR?!" she screamed as she struggled to put down her bedhead. The little sprite chuckled and returned to his small sprite form. "You didn't wake up, I had to do something- didn't I? You're going to be late for confessional anyway." Yet more wide-eyed became Lorena as she cursed underneath her breath and jumped off the bed, struggling to find appropriate clothing for the morning. Finding a simple white spaghetti strap delighted Lorena very much, so she tossed it onto the bed while Dresius sat motionless, now with a straight lip as his music blared in his tiny ears. Lorena stared at Dresius fora brief moment before running away to find a pair of pleated calf-cut dark gray pants. Smiling with the sudden progress she was making she dashed to find an appropriate cover-up to cover the white shirt she had managed to find. Now all she had to do was find that cover-up and a nice pair of heels. While being the tomboy, she still had to dress nicely for Sunday morning confessional. Ever since killing her father, a tormenting thought had troubled her ever since. "A-ha!" she finally stated gleefully as she pulled out a emerald green elbow-length wrap, and that too fell onto the bed like falling leaves.

Now all she had to do...find some nice flat shoes...perfect for the occasion yet still faithful to its heritage as a tomboy. Ooh! Shoes with a decorated zip-line! She smiled now, although time was running short she couldn't help but remember how she loved these specific pair of shoes!

"Oh ********> she muttered as she dashed into her bathroom, flipping the shower head on and jumping inside, with a moan of distaste she found the water to be freezing, 'what better cure to sleepiness?' she thought as she massaged her scalp quickly with some generic shampoo from the thrift shop. Soon she was onto the body wash section of her cleansing and soon was finished. "DRESIUS," she called out the bathroom. The little sprite reluctantly got off the bed and came to her with a straight face. "Dresius, do you mind drying me off? I need to brush my teeth and I can't do everything all at once...I know...I know...just do it." The little boy transformed yet again to human size and pulled a towel from the rack and began to rub it against her skin, trying hard not to look at her naked body as it somehow made it more awkward than it already was being with her 24/7...or did they call it that nowadays? Would it be...the thought made Dresius' head hurt and he immediately stopped thinking about it.

As Lorena finished up and spat out the remaining toothpaste and brushed her hair she paused for a moment and gave Dresius a hug, "thank you" she stated as she did so, her toweled body pressed against his hooded one. Dresius fought a crude remark and remained quiet until Lorena had left the bathroom. Returning to his normal size he left the bathroom and hitched a seat on the end table near the front door. Lorena was busy dressing herself, slipping on her bra ever so sultrily, and after slipping on a pair of black panties to go with it. And with a smile she placed the goggles onto her neck and fled the apartment with Dresius hopping onto her shoulder.

It wasn't long until she found the chapel. But the strange thing was- no one was in the venue, not inside, not crowded around except for a few drug smugglers talking about their latest con. "Dresius..." she began to say, "what time is it?" and with a sort of coy, and snarky response he stated "7:26am, Lorena." Lorena muttered a curse, "a*****e, YOU WOKE ME UP TWO HOURS BEFORE THE-" her voice cut short as she noticed the smugglers' looking her way with curious expressions. "I'll get you for this " she whispered as she left to the cafe.

"One Frappucino," Lorena instructed the cashier, "and one muffin please- make it Blueberry." She twirled in the stool a bit before Dresius hopped on the counter and sat on a napkin, looking at Lorena blankly. "You know you love the muffins Pack, you know you do." He shook his head, denying the accusation.

Soon the coffee was brought to her and so was the muffin, Lorena thanked the cashier and handed her a $10 bill. The news came on at the particular time Lorena was about to make a remark about the Corrupted- the topic being exactly what she feared. "All Corrupted are to be sent to Sans Certif Hospital, bounties are placed on each Corrupted and you will get a reward for your work. If you find a Corrupted- tell an official." Lorena lowered her head and sipped her coffee a bit more, glancing left and right to see if somehow, in some way just being there would trigger an accusatory finger Lorena's way, and she would find herself dead.

Glorianna and Belladonna

User ImageWhile the useless wretches skittered on the streets and in the apartments around her, Glorianna rolled her pale grey eyes derisively, standing at the window of her apartment and gazing down on the streets below. As bad as cockroaches, all of them. Worthless. Useless. And they had dared try to enclose her in among a number of the weak, whiny little brats that tried to call themselves her equals. As though such a ridiculous assumption could ever be true. They had been blessed with a power, but she had heard nothing on the news yet about anyone truly worthwhile having been erased. A few meagre citizens here and there, most of them infected – what good was that to teach the unworthy ones just what power now walked among them?

No, Glory’s dreams were a little bigger. She had been granted power over life and death – not that she hadn’t already taken that for her own, she thought with a little smile, but it pleased her that it had been handed to her on a platter – and she, she alone, was worthy of it. She alone would put it to the use that it deserved, the use that its magnificence begged for. Let the others who had been given this power quiver and whine and crawl among the cockroaches, trying to be like them; Glorianna had always known she was born for more, and she would have it. Looking down upon the street, a smile that was not quite sane stretched across her pretty face.

The city would be on its knees for her mercy before she was through. Whether she gave it that mercy or not…well, that would depend on how quickly it knelt for her, wouldn’t it?

“Glorianna,” said a small voice severely. Glory turned and looked at the only one she had never considered forcing to kneel to her.

If Glorianna loved anyone, Belladonna was that someone. The tiny little android companion was sitting on the bed, her little legs swinging. Like Glory, Belladonna looked innocent and fragile and harmless. Like Glory, she was anything but.

But Bell was far more sensible and levelheaded than her human counterpart, and Glorianna bowed to Belladonna’s sharp mind and quick analysis of every situation. She had never needed to fear that something had slipped her mind that would get them caught; Bell thought of anything she missed, and usually her little companion took perfectly good care of it herself. Glory loved Belladonna and trusted her with her every dream and hope, and only Belladonna had any sort of control over Glory’s emotions.

“What is it, Bell?” she asked absently, turning back to the window and gazing downwards once again.

“Have you your things together?” inquired Belladonna, sitting comfortably on the edge of the bed. “It is an unfortunate fact that we do not have the entire day.” She raised a porcelain-coloured hand to her long red hair, pushing it back and neatly adjusting her bow before hopping down and brushing fussily at her skirt.

Glory pouted. Belladonna knew perfectly well that Glorianna hadn’t gotten together her things – why should she have? They wouldn’t be leaving for another little while, since Belladonna still had to do a bit more research into the living quarters they were breaking into before they left. What was the point in being ready before Bell was? “Not yet,” she replied, her voice still a little sulky.

Belladonna, already at the door, turned and gave her a patient, pointed stare. “Then perhaps you should do so, Glorianna. We will be leaving shortly, as per your request at twenty-one-hundred hours and twelve minutes last night.”

As Belladonna breezed out, Glory looked out the window one more time and her smile flickered brighter than before. Then she turned away and went to the closet. Of course she had already chosen what she would wear for this, her first step in her mission; Glorianna would never be caught looking less than perfect for anything she chose to do, whether it be art or murder.

Of course, she was of the belief that art and murder were not so far apart. After all, killers were artists in their way – the victim, the method, the setting were all part of their signature style. As she brushed out her long sandy-brown hair so that it fell perfectly straight and even, she considered her own style.

The setting would be the victim’s own home – simple, yet terribly effective. Calmly, she tossed her nightdress to the floor and slid into a pretty, frothy white dress that made her look much younger than she was. The method would, of course, be the newfound power that she had been blessed with – what else could she possibly use when she had been given such an incredible thing? Sliding on elbow-length white gloves that matched the dress and added to the sense of childishness, she also picked out a pair of shiny black little-girl shoes.

The victim…well, eventually it would be the city as a whole, but for now she would content herself with starting at the top.

Glorianna studied herself in the mirror and found nothing wrong with her disguise. A pretty, shy, sweet young girl stared back at her, innocent as the morning sun. Nobody would connect her with anything dangerous. At least, not until it was too late.

Seeing her door slowly beginning to open, Glory looked over her shoulder. Belladonna stood in the doorway, the teddy bear that added to her adorable stylistic choices dangling casually from one hand. The woman smiled at her counterpart, and the smile had a chilling edge. “I’m ready,” she told Belladonna. The little companion merely nodded and gestured with a small china-white hand.

Yes, it was time to go. More than time for the two of them to finally begin this.

Glorianna swept out the door ahead of her little companion, but before she did, she took one more look down at the city below her and her eyes took on a hint of cold glee.

You will kneel for me.

“You will kneel to me.”

Raphael and Isara

User ImageHis hands moved with smooth, practiced ease over the warped and twisted metal, the faint shriek of steel against iron the only thing that disrupted the silence. It had been a piece of wreckage, the remnants of one of the flyboards that were popular among children of a certain age these days. The boy had been fine, but his flyboard had been utterly destroyed, and the kid had been devastated. There had been a knock on his door later that day, and the boy’s mother had come to him with the wreckage of the flyboard. He’d understood.

They weren’t as poor as he’d once been, but they had scrimped and saved for months and months to afford this flyboard, and there was no way they could afford to replace it. She hoped that there was something to be done. As his hands and tools slowly began to smooth out the warped metal of the board, he smiled dryly down at it. These days, he compared every job to his finest achievement; they always came up short when it came to difficulty. There were days when he felt like there was nothing he couldn’t do. But he tried to keep those sorts of thoughts curbed; they were very much frowned upon, especially for a young man who lived within his rather straitened means and would never set the world on fire.

Not for most people, anyway. But he could do some things.

He could fix and return a refrigeration unit for a family who could never have bought a new one. He could make a young boy’s eyes light up when he returned a fixed and functional flyboard to him – the corrections now that he’d straightened it out again would be easy enough.

He could bring back a little sister he’d thought he would never see again. Maybe not in her own body, but then, his genius was with things, not people. Speaking of which…

“Isara,” he remarked without looking up from the flyboard, “bring me the wiring, would you? I think some of this will need to be redone.”

There was no response, but then Raphael didn’t really expect one – Isara was not much of a talker. He knew she was in the room, and the soft clicking of little booted feet a moment later heralded her presence even before a tiny hand shoved a pile of multicoloured wires onto the table beside him. “Thanks,” he murmured, his mind already back on the flyboard. It was smooth and flat now, as clean-edged as the day it was made. There were some scuffs and cracks that would need to be buffed out, but some of them came from the boy’s feet, and anyway they added character. He might leave a couple of them. No need to make the boy feel as though his own additions to the board were imperfections that needed removing.

He opened it up with sturdy nails and an old-fashioned screwdriver instead of one of the laser spinners that more affluent mechanics might have used; he took care of old tools and they served him well. With clever hands and patience, he meticulously rewired the flyboard, occasionally calling to Isara for help – her tiny fingers could fit into spaces his couldn’t. Whenever he glanced up to see what she was doing, she would look back up at him with enormous green eyes before returning to her pencil sketch of the finished flyboard. Isara liked to draw the ‘before’ and ‘after’ phases of his work; she claimed she was keeping a record of his successes for him.

Raphael had never bothered to remind her that she had only been there for the ‘after’ period of his greatest success. He knew she knew it as well as he did.

Sometimes he wondered what had become of the people who had thrown Isara out. She was so quick and devoted and patient; what would they have done without her? Then he sternly reminded himself that he didn’t care. She was his companion now, and he didn’t care if their dying wish was to see the little companion that they had so carelessly tossed out with the trash, he would not give her up. Where would he be without her?

Probably in a trash compactor of his own. Only his would be mental. Closing his eyes against the thought, he reached out blindly until his hand touched Isara’s long blue ponytail. He felt the little companion turn her head to look up at him, and he let out a long breath. He was overreacting, that was all. Things had turned out just fine. He had made it this far, and he’d make it farther still; more to the point, no one was going to try and take his little partner away from him. Why would they? They’d thrown her out like trash.

Opening his eyes again, he looked down on her and smiled wryly. “I’m okay,” he promised. Isara studied him for a second longer and then nodded, returning to her pencil art as Rafe began doing some last patches and tidying on the flyboard.

When it was done, he leaned it up against the wall and took a final study. Yes, it looked like it worked. “Isara,” he said, “c’mere and test this, would you?”

The companion hopped up and climbed onto the little machine. Watching her whizz around the room on the shining flyboard, Raphael felt a real smile touch his lips. It was fixed. It was perfect. She was fixed, and perfect. Everything was going to be fine.

Shaking his head, he told himself that he had to get out of his workroom more often. He’d been in there for the past four days, doing nonstop fixing. It was understandable that he was beginning to get a little loopy. Maybe he’d walk the flyboard over to the boy’s apartment when he’d done a final polish on it. As Isara halted the flyboard and climbed down before offering it back to him, Rafe leaned it up against the wall again and looked around at the piles of things that were still waiting for his magic touch.

Then again, he had a lot to do…maybe he’d just get Isara to walk it down. Who needed socializing, anyway?

Valeria Snow & Selestina

╔══════════════╗

Valeria looked up from her paper recognizing the voice that ordered, her eyes grew wide. She recognized this woman, she just didn't know from where. The woman looked down to Selestina. "Do we know her?" She whispered and the tiny android who was sitting on the table looked up at Lorena and and Derius. "Selestina we know them." her voice was soft and serious. Valeria was always a very quiet person she kept to herself a lot, so to be so sure she had met someone before, to recognize their voice was saying a lot.

Selestina stayed very quiet and turned to her owner, "We do. . . But it'd be be best to keep it quiet. . . She is one of us." The little girl whispered in her ear. Valeria's throat got tight, although she recognized her they didn't really ever speak to each other. The blonde had no idea what kind of person she was, she could be one of the evil ones. . . But she could be a good one too. The woman bit her lip and looked down at the paper, her knees shaking as she sat her nerves were bad. Out of the whole city out of every place why here? Why now? What were the odds of meeting someone like herself here?

The tiny android patted Valeria's hand. "Don't be so nervous, she probably wouldn't recognize you. But what if she did? You said you wanted to make friends, what better than someone like you?" Selestina told her softly, and it eased her mind just a little.

"you are right, all of this is just getting in my head. How could anyone else know?" Valeria tried to convince herself of that as she said it, chances were that she wasn't a monster, just a poor unfortunate girl like herself. She gave a heavy sigh mustering up the guts to go walk over to her. After ten minutes of inner turmoil Valeria got up taking her breakfast and walked over to Lorena.

"Hello, mind if I join you? And I'm sorry but have we met before?" Valeria asked kindly just wanting to know if the woman recognized her as well.

The newscaster continued to ramble on about the day's crimes and other horrible propaganda that seemed way too over-exaggerated than it really was. The man who threatened the government was just a protestor protesting the act of harming people for profit. The woman who was a drug addict was only a woman who overdosed on the pills given to her, unaware of the slight increase of dosage that the doctor prescribed, being very lethal. Lorena gave a quiet huff and lowered her head, sipping the coffee as she shook her head, what lies were these bigots feeding them? Were they actually supposed to believe them?! Of course not, it was what kept Lorena and her senses aloof from all these big liars demeaning her.

A voice interrupted her from her quiet sulking and as she slowly rose her head up, she was met with the eyes of an angel, a beautiful maiden Lorena never thought existed in the real world. She, ironically enough was giving the Victoria Secret Angels a run for their money! She tried to muster up words, of where she could have seen her before- wait a second. Didn't Lorena's face appear on the news cast? Oh s**t, oh s**t, they've found her. Lorena swallowed deeply and tried to pull the fabric from her neck so she could breathe a bit easier since her throat felt as cramped as a disco tech. "I-I don't mind at all," Lorena said with a struggle for breath, turning away from her quickly, "I don't think we've met...but it's...uh..." Lorena stopped speaking, Dresius rolling his eyes, "she's wanted, if you haven't noticed, you should have seen her face by now- so don't be surprised if it appears on TV, she's her own little celebrity!" Giving a sarcastic chuckle Dresius picked himself up from the stack of napkins and patted himself down, crossing his arms and sticking a tongue out at Lorena, "it's not so much as a pleasure to be with a fugitive as you might think," he stated with a sigh and a shake of his head. Lorena swatted Dresius away and cursed in Spanish under her breath. Turning towards the woman she rose from her seat, sipping the last of her Frappucino and stealing the small muffin away as she grabbed Dresius by the hood and tossed him onto her shoulder and quickly exited the cafe without the slightest hint of goodbye.

Was she going to be pursued now? She glanced up at the boards above on the higher levels and saw that it was 8 o'clock now, just another hour until confessional. 'I hope no one knows where I'm going...I don't need those government agents following me around everywhere like blood hounds...' thought Lorena solemnly as she hurried across the sidewalk, hoping to catch the first elevator to evade this woman who seemed so kind, but Lorena had heard and seen it all. She might seem like a saint, but she could be a demon for all she knew, a deceitful and cheating snitch.

Lorena was scared for her life, shivering even as she stood still, Dresius being like a bobble head holding on for dear life onto her wrap. She pressed the button like a Parkinson's patient, every few milliseconds a tanned fingertip hitting the circular button.

Valeria Snow & Selestina

╔══════════════╗

Before Valaria or her companion could react the Lorena had left. Valeria was in shock, they'd found her, they knew who she was, she could only assume it was over corrupted matters, but one thing is for sure Lorena didn't recognize her. She looked to her android. "Selestina we have to help her." she said very seriously. For some reason even though she hardly knew her, the one thing that made them alike made all the difference, she didn't even know her name but she knew she had to do something. Little did the woman know that Lorena was a murderer, who killed her own father, who was probably on the run from a lot of other charges as well. Those thoughts didn't cross the beauty's mind.

Selestina looked at Valeria and nodded, "Just finish your breakfast and we can track her down. I have that companion of her's location. Where ever he is at I am sure she is as well." Selestina explained calmly. The blonde nodded taking a sip of her coffee and a bite of her pastry. She continued looking through the paper, glancing over all the bull s**t. "if they put the truth in these I'd bet it'd be ten pages shorter." she remarked a little peeved, then finished her breakfast. As she walked out she got a few admiring looks from men but she kept waking.

"Don't you think this can wait? I think some of those guys wanted to talk to you." Selestina tried to tell her,

"No Selestina, this is too important. Think about what would happen if they catch her! You remember what they did to me, think of that but ten times worse. She needs someone. . . I can just feel it"

"She didn't ask for help Valaria!" there was a sturn stubborness in her voice.

"She can't trust anyone else Selestina! You think people just openly ask for help when they're a fugitive? Like oh hey so you know I'm running from the police can you help me out? No they don't! We are going and that is final, track them down." Valeria ordered, Selestina reluctantly obeyed floating along side of her owner she lead the way.

"They're in there." The android pointed at the church, it was already in session. Valeria wasn't a religious person, and she didn't want to make a scene
"Fine, we will wait here." The woman sat against the church and waited. Thinking of how to approach her, she didn't want to frighten her. All the thinking made her stomach sick, what if she tried to hurt her? Valeria was frail and it was obvious that Lorena was much stronger. She just had to keep telling herself she had to try, she couldn't just step back and let her be captured.

She waited patiently at the doors, sweating beading off her tan face as she leaned against the church's pearly white wall, panting like prey. When the doors opened by the small church boy with a kind disposition and a dirtied face, Lorena nodded in respect and walked on inside, with the boy smiling sadly, apparently having heard the story all too long ago.

Entering the sanctuary she was hit in the face with a dry breeze, as all churches were accustomed to- reminding you that you were entering a dead zone, a place where life ends, and the spirit begins. Making no time to enjoy the scenery Lorena began to pace herself towards the Confessional room, finally ridding her of all the horrible nightmares she's had over the course of the month- blooding spilling everywhere, but her own blood shed as the agents broke into her home and shot her dead on her bed, while Dresius snickered and walked away with a cash prize. The Reverend swore anonymity and secrecy, so even her harshest secrets were safe with him, after all he was the same man who baptized her all those years ago. She had confided in him for everything she's done, form petty crimes to even a near murder.

She approached the small room and opened the door, gently closed it behind her and set Dresius down on the small bench behind her, leaving on the counter as a frame slid on the other end. A familiar, yet old voice spoke to her, "Lorena, I see you've come- has something troubled your mind, petit rosa?" Lorena blushed at the comment, turning her head away briefly before returning with a weary smile, "Father, I need to confide in you again, I know and understand it's all been the same subject, but I cannot get rest. My face has-" she stopped speaking, raising her pointer finger she signaled the man to wait- the old man nodded and slid the frame over the cut wood as Lorena faced Dresius- "Dresius, do I take your oath to secrecy and confidentiality, or do I have to put you in sleep mode to shut you up?" Dresius gave an obligatory tongue at Lorena and crossed his arms, "I'll do what I want you wench." Lorena gave an exasperated sigh, "FINE!" her voice gave a heightened pitch as she so angrily announced "sleep mode- ACTIVATE." Dresius head fell slowly to its side, and his body with it. Feeling a bit ashamed of how she acted, she placed Dresius under her wrap as she took it off and placed him in a comfortable sleeping position. As if it would help an android sleep, but it came out of motherly nature.

She returned to the cut wood and knocked three times, the frame slide again and she met the gaze of the old man. "Father, I've been having visions in the form of nightmares- seeing men in government agent suits coming to kill me in my sleep. And in my nightmare...I see my father. What does this...all mean, Father?" The old man grumbled a few words, pondered it seemed and then nodded. "Child, you must seek peace- I have seen your face on the news, you must flee and shelter yourself, you cannot be here any longer." Lorena lowered her head in shame, "but Father, I cannot just...go-" "you will go my child, there are people who can help you" "no one can help me" "CHILD. GO WITH GOD- FOR HE WILL SHELTER YOU IF YOU ARE HIS." Sudden silence, Lorena hadn't expected the man to rile up in angered shouts. She swallowed in understanding, "yes father..."

She left the church with quiet tears staining her marked face, holding a sleeping Dresius snuggled in her wrap with her head lowered. She approached a worn bench against the church wall, and as she sat down a tear dripped onto Dresius' pale sleeping face. Smiling wearily she wiped the tear off of it slowly, enjoying the time she had with him. She didn't know if she would have to leave Dresius behind, as he connected with the whole network in this god forsaken place she called home.

Valeria Snow & Selestina

╔══════════════╗

It seemed as though Valeria didn't wait long at all before Lorena came out of the church. She was crying, what happened? She looked to Selestina with a worried look, wondering if this was a good idea. The android nodded and nudged her arm slightly. "She needs someone Valeria. . . And I think you're the only one who will help." she clenched her fists a little in nervousness before getting up and walking over to her.

She placed a steady soft hand on the woman's shoulder. "I am like you. . . I can help." her voice sounded with its naturally quiet disposition.

Valeria was still a little socially awkward, this was entirely out of her comfort zone. She was never very good at talking to people let alone try and comfort them. Her years of solitude made this very difficult for her to handle. Even as she spoke she wondered what Lorena might do to her, she was emotional, and Valeria worried she might get harmed. Despite the fear she sat beside her.

"I don't know you from the news or the paper. I've seen you somewhere else. In person." She didn't look at Lorena, she watched intently at the people passing by. Making sure they weren't giving them any notice. Selestina sat on Valeria's shoulder quietly.

Her body quivered in fear as she cradled the small purple-haired android who, even though insulted her o a daily basis was the only family she had now. She felt a firm, yet warm hand grasp her shoulder and at an instant a rush of adrenaline split through her spine and she was paralyzed with fear, like prey waiting until the predator came to rid her of her woes. Was she ready...for death?

A rising sensation to puke was coming all over her now, but she tried to told it in. What did this woman say? She peaked her head from her corner of shame and as her face grew with confusion, the woman's seemed to grow with kindness, confidence and reassurance. But Lorena couldn't be sure if she was to be trusted. The little android beside her made her think twice however. "I am a fugitive, Senora...no one can help me, and no one can help you either" said Lorena as she rose from her bench seat and took Dresius along with her as she began walking away from this strange, yet kind woman whom she didn't even know all that well. If she was like her, being a Corrupted soul that could be used for horrible things, killing mass of people and letting everyone forget that it ever happened.

She didn't know what to believe anymore. And while in her state of self crumbling she couldn't allow Dresius to wake up either. If he saw her with shimmering clear droplets running down her face he would never forget it and use it as blackmail materials forever.

Glorianna and Belladonna

User ImageGlorianna wasn’t even looked at twice as she walked briskly along the sidewalk – a young girl who knew where she was going and had no concerns, anyone passing by might have thought, if they thought about her at all. These days, the world was so frantically chaotic and so full of people that most everyone tended to ignore strangers passing by; even when two people collided, they didn’t tend to speak to each other. Glory smiled to herself – with everyone so absorbed in their own little problems, was it such a surprise that the Corrupted managed to go unnoticed?

Winding her way through the busy, dirty streets, she eventually paused at a tall building. It was a high-level, fancy apartment building, of the sort where only the rich stayed, with a guard on the door. She stared up at it, her white dress rustling around her knees, and just like that her entire persona changed. Her grey eyes went big and confused and maybe just a little scared, her lips drew into a nervous pout, one gloved hand went up to twist a lock of light-brown hair while the other fiddled with her skirt nervously; she was the image of a lost young woman, perhaps sixteen at best, who had no idea what she was going to do now.

After a moment or two, the guard spoke. His voice was kind, and Glory knew she already had him hooked. “Can I help you, little girl?” he asked.

She was nothing if not a good character actress; at his voice, she started and then looked shyly down at the ground. “I…I don’t know,” she mumbled, staring at the ancient stones beneath her feet as she stumbled over her words like a shy child. “I just…Uncle Norman said he would meet me, but, but he’s not here, and I…” She shot a nervous look over her shoulder; if the guard was any good at all, he’d know the sort of harassment that a pretty young girl might have gone through on the street while walking here from another part of town.

Clearly, the guard was good, as his instinctive move was a defensive step forward. Then he studied her again and asked, “Norman, you said?” In these days, Norman was not a common name, and Glory knew it – she had chosen it specifically because there was no one in the building with that name. “There’s no one here with a name like that, honey.”

Her eyes went very wide. “A-are you sure?” she stuttered. “He…he said here. I think.” She stared up at the number emblazoned on the building as though that would help it make sense. “I was sure he said 264…unless maybe it was 246…”

As she shot another glance over her shoulder, fearfully, she watched the guard’s kindness overwhelm his wariness – she could see it playing out behind his eyes. What was the harm, after all, in letting her come in for a minute until her uncle came? She was just a little girl, and it was obvious that she’d been harassed on the way there. She was scared. Eventually, the man spoke again. “Well, little girl, why don’t you come in and use the phone here? You can check with your uncle and make sure this is the right building.”

Glory let gratitude fill her face and shine out from it. “Really? Oh, thank you so much.” She followed him in, making sure to stare and gawp like an uneducated child at the decoration of the open entrance area.

She was lucky – the phone was around the corner from the door, so the guard could no longer see her there once he went back to his post. Picking it up, she tapped in the number for her own home phone, and after it had rung twice she began to speak. “Uncle Norman? Where are you? You said you’d meet me at 264, right?” She continued to natter nonsensically, pausing occasionally to pretend to listen, until the guard went back to the main door. As soon as he was gone, she slipped away from the phone, opened up a side window to let Belladonna in, and the two of them went through a doorway; hanging on a hook that led upwards into the darkness, Glory found the basket, big enough for Bell. Perfect.

Lifting Belladonna into the basket and grinning as her beloved companion gracefully stepped in (disdainfully shaking out her skirts once she was inside – judging by the look of the bottom of it, trash had been the last thing this basket was used to haul), Glory pulled on the rope that would send it up towards the higher apartments and sent her android companion upwards. When the rope was tugged on twice, gently, and then went slack, Glory knew Bell was in. Allowing the basket to descend again, she came out of the compost lift and closed the door quietly. Silently, she picked up the phone and then set it down firmly – it would be, just barely, loud enough for the guard to hear from where he was.

When she came back out into the main area, the guard glanced over at her and lifted a brow curiously, and she smiled radiantly at him. “Uncle Norman said he’s going to be late,” she said, “but he’s gonna call his lady friend and if she’s there, maybe she’ll let me sit upstairs with her until he can come.” It was the cheerful, bubbly relief of a child, and the guard smiled a little at it.

They heard the buzz at the same time, and as the great elevator opened, Glory skipped over to it and waved a goodbye to the guard as it closed on her. Once the doors were closed and she was on her way up, a cold smile touched her pretty face, and the childish innocence was gone again just like that.

Stepping out on the top floor, she found Belladonna waiting for her. In perfect silence, the two of them walked towards their next destination.

Glory could barely contain her excitement.
