Father was busy with his books again. Not that this was unusual - father was always busy with his books. And he'd forgotten to go grocery shopping, so the only thing edible in the house was half a loaf of bread and some orange marmalade. Elesa was utterly sick of eating toast, and she knew where father left his pocketbook, so the young scent had taken the responsibility of grocery shopping into her own tiny hands.

She wouldn't be gone that long, after all, and she would return bearing food. Father would never know she had left at all, and she would have the satisfaction of knowing that she was a capable and grown-up young lady. Nodding to herself, Elesa picked up Landon's pocketbook and slipped out the front door, closing it behind her with a soft 'click'. She would be back later, a queen triumphant.

"Bye-bye, Father," the little blonde said, waving at the house before skipping down the step and off down the street, heading in a direction that she thought might lead to a grocery store. And maybe a toy store or a clothing store. Surely father would never notice if she bought something nice for herself while she was out. It would be a reward for taking care of things.

Yes, this was a brilliant plan - nothing could possibly go wrong. Nothing at all.
