Ok, so here's how it happened: Langston did not apply for this job. He walked in (like so many people in Gaia randomly walk into places), hit his head, and when he woke up he had a job as the shop's accountant and a spit fire of a dragoness who likes to leave charcoal footprints on all of his paperwork. He's awkward and people shy - mostly because he's obnoxiously tall as well as being nothing but arms and legs - and prefers to hide behind books all day.
Today is not one of those days. Pacifica was not in the store, and that left him to attempt to run things. Including the "dealing with people" things. Which made him a wreck; he paced around the shop, wringing his hands together and pushing his black rimmed glasses up his nose in a nervous twitch.
He knew someone was going to come into the shop - they always did, intrigued by the sign. They never suspected that one of the little dragons in the special tanks would have that "certain something". Next thing you know, you're going home with a bundle of terror...er, joy. Yeah. Joy.
Langston glanced over at Solstice's cage. Usually he allowed her to be out and about with him, but not today. Not when he was so stressed, she'd only add to it. Because of this, she sat in an angry pile at the back of her tank, glaring at her owner with dark tendrils of smoke rising from her nose.

It really wasn't all that often that Aden went anywhere with everyone as a group because it was a rather loud mess of people that all wanted to go in different directions and normally did. The three with him were, if nothing else, brightly colored and it made it easy enough to keep an eye on him when they were walking along though having to deal with all three of them at once had him smoking... but then again the man would likely be doing that anyway, it was one of his vices after all, "You know that the three of you can stay a little closer together, none of you have cooties." He commented though the only one that seemed to have heard was the firow known as Bjiou who was walking alongside Aden silent.
Of the three Midori was the worst away striking out on his own, hating to be stuck with his family more then anything because in the boy's mind he was a witch in training and his family was only going to weigh him down! Or something like that... Aden normally just nodded along when the neon haired boy started to go on and on about his training, his need for a proper familiar, and so on and so forth. Was it always so hard to raise kids? Sure his first son was difficult but that was just due to what he was. Midori on the other hand was difficult to be difficult, never wanting to sit still, never wanting to be home, and seemed to have the overwhelming obsession with cats that told the doctor that it wouldn't be long before his second son was smuggling the furry beasts into the house in droves.
Beryl was just as hard to deal with though less because he felt he had training to do and more because he just never sat still, the mix of DNA that the boy was made of, that of gluttony and diligence, made him like something akin to a hummingbird on speed. He never sat still, ran on ahead, and never bothered with something as dull as sleep which meant he was tromping around twenty four seven made worse since he became a teenager since it seemed his energy had somehow spiked along with the growth. If nothing else he hadn't found the spawn interested in girls or anything yet so he wasn't trying to sneak them into his room. That was at least something...
Of the trio it was Bjiou who was the only one that knew how to behave but he seemed to take it a step too far, almost always silent, shy, fidgeting, and seemed to try his hardest so that he could stay with the family... as though Aden had the heart to kick the skittish creature out, he was sure he'd end up wandering aimlessly as he'd been doing when Beryl found him and brought him home like he were some sort of lost puppy. Given the ears and tail he had he supposed the firow looked a touch like a puppy but still, that was no reason for Beryl to bring him home and ask if he could keep him. His eldest never was the sharpest crayon in the box, was he?
"Alright you three! Calm down or we are going to go home!" Aden called after Beryl who was, once again, trotting on ahead, and Midori who was looking as if he were trying to find an escape route away from the 'fun' family adventure.
Instantly Midori turned and asked, "Promise?" He was all for that because it meant an easier get away on his part, as it was he was forced to leave his broom at home, locked up in his room, so he wasn't able to fly off this time around. Such a bore.
"Haha." Aden said, dropping his cigarette butt to the ground to stomp it out before reaching for another, he paused though as he did so, noticing the strange looking store that they were standing in front of, "Here, how about we stop here, looks like some sort of pet store." Maybe they had cats and he could finally get one for Midori so he wouldn't have to hear about felines constantly? He wasn't really a cat person so he couldn't say that he wanted to hear about them all the time and how they were the best thing to have as a familiar other then a crow. He had a feeling once his son got a cat he would start asking for a bird next...
Three sets of eyes other then Aden's turned toward the shop front, seeming as though all three of them were taking it in before they were heading for the door, Beryl in the lead if only because he was fastest, before the three were invading the place, curious to see what sort of pets they were selling, "Tempting to stay out here for another smoke." Aden muttered to himself, debating the idea before shaking his head. Naw, he didn't want to abuse the store owner he decided as he put his smokes away, vowing to have a couple once they were done here, and followed the other three inside before they were able to break anything.

Poor man - what had he gotten himself into?
Before the jingle of the bell that hung above the entrance, before the door even opened...Langston heard them coming. He heard the children outside, approaching, and froze mid-step - terrified, the color draining out of his face - just a dozen or so feet behind the front door. Oh god, what do I do now?
It's not that Langston doesn't like kids, by the way. He just...doesn't know how to talk to them. He certainly doesn't know how to tell them to behave. That's what parents are for, but adults who properly controlled their children were so rare.
The frightened man bit the inside of his cheek so hard he made himself bleed, but at least the pain brought him back. Just in time, too...the door opened, making the bell jingle, and in came the...children? Oh god, these were adopted children. Special children. Children who could possibly burn down the shop or, worse, make it implode on itself.
Why wasn't Pacifica here?
"H-hel...lo," Langston stammered, before clearing his throat. Must follow protocol. "Welc-come t-to Pocc-ca Dr-racon-n-na."

The three boys were looking around the interesting shop with wide eyes before Beryl and Midori went in opposite directions to explore it, wanting to see what sorts of pets it was that they were selling in the place. Bijou stood there stock still for a moment, his long ears twitching, before he turned to hurry after the teenaged spawn quickly, not wanting his friend to leave him behind. Better to stay with the one that had taken him in after all instead of Midori who only ever picked on him and made it seem like a crime that he was more of a canine in appearance then feline.
Aden watched the three as they split up before he turned to look at Midori, "No sneaking off." He told the boy, not that he would get to far without that damn flying broom of his he thought to himself before he turned to look at the stuttering Langston and his lips turned up into a smile, "Well now, it seems that there is a reason for me being here other then keeping an eye on my brood, huh?" He said, deciding that this trip wouldn't be so bad since he had found a rather interesting and cute guy in the shop. Maybe he would see about taking him home he thought to himself with a grin, "Sorry for invading like this, the shop just looked like an interesting one that might distract them for a while." He told the guy who looked a bit like a deer caught in headlights... which only made him seem that much more adorable to the doctor.
As Aden flirted it up Beryl kept pressing himself against the glass of the cages, making a game of trying to find what was in each of them, but found himself completely enthralled when they got to the cages that looked a bit like fish tanks and it reminded him a little like Torekane's cage from the Labs... only on a much smaller scale, "Cuuuute!" He murmured, tapping a finger lightly against the glass to get the attention of the one inside the tank.
Having circled around the shop, and to the tanks that were made for the water type dragons, Midori starred into them, giving a choked sound, "The Hells...? This one looks like Beryl." He muttered to himself, finding it strange and somehow amusing at the same time to find a little... whatever it was, lizard maybe, that looked like his brother. He kind of liked it, he wondered if he would be able to get this one? It wasn't quite a cat but it was interesting nevertheless... though before he could even think about asking for it the firow Bijou gave a shriek and lunged toward Beryl, clinging to him.
Beryl, Midori, and Aden all jerked their heads around to look over at Bijou who was shaking from heading to toe, eyes squeezed closed, and stuck to his tail, slowly scaling him like a jungle gym, was a strange, pale colored beast with four eyes that had bailed out of the cage Pacifica had left open after feeding him last and pounced the fluffy, brightly colored thing that he decided that he just had to have! All those colors, it had to be some sort of walking treasure! Not that it seemed Bijou was taking to well to the creature that was climbing him... where as Midori and Beryl were laughing at the boy's predicament.
"Always an adventure." Aden muttered to himself, a bit of a grin on his lips as he relaxed, realizing that Bijou was alright if a bit startled.

The shop...keeping-assistant continued with his wide eyed stare, trying frantically to watch all three children at one time before coming back to their parent/guardian. Was he...was he flirting with him? Ohgodohgodohgod...Langston felt the blush engulf his face and the sweat start to trickle down the back of his neck.
"Ah, w-well. You see...oh, please d-don't tap the g-glass," he interrupted himself, talking to the boy by the aquatic tanks before returning his attention to the man. "I'm...I'm n-n...OH NO!"
It was the scream that completely drew his attention away, and upon seeing the brightly colored boy attempting to merge into the first boy, he knew exactly what had happened. It could only be one of the dragons; for as sweet as Pacifica was, she was always forgetting to close a cage or something. It was different when the girl was here, she was much better at corralling them then Langston would ever be.
"N-now, don't p-panic," Langston mumbled, almost whimpering. "They're not all...d-dangerous." He actually was crawling around on the ground, trying to find the tiny creature who was causing trouble.
And then he saw it, climbing up the dog-like boy's tail...and the color drained out of his face. Of course it had to be one of the dangerous ones - he knew what that nasty looking stinger meant.
"Oh, oh dear....just, hold still," he offered, getting back to his feet. He had to get the gloves; there was no way he was going to touch that thing without the gloves. "I'll g-get him off you."
The gloves where in a drawer not too far away, though it felt like forever while Langston got them and, hands shaking, attempted to put them on. Who knows what would happen in the time it took for him to finally get back over to help out.

The little dragon, known as Exuviae amongst bone, gave a hissing sound when Langston approached and starred at him. It would seem as though the human were thinking about trying to put him back in the cage he'd come from... not in this life time! The dragon gave another hiss, teeth barred, and lifted that barbed tail in a threatening fashion before continuing the ascent up the brightly colored tail. Was it just him or did one seem to get even brighter as he went up? Oh he just had to have it! As though choosing his owner was his choice and not that of the terrified creature he was scaling.
"B-Beryl... get it off of me..." The firow whimpered as he dared to lift his tail up to peek toward it, something he regretted instantly when he saw the spiny creature starring at him with not two but FOUR eyes. How scary... why was this thing crawling all over him? Was it planning on eating him? The thought made him a little dizzy and he collapsed to his knees, whimpering all the while.
Beryl starred at his friend for a long moment before he sighed, "I think it just likes you." He said, reaching out without a second thought to grab the spiny thing by the tail, plucking it off of Bijou... and the little dragon gave a rather indignant shreik, as though he couldn't believe that someone would dare to take him away from what was his. The creature flailed about for a moment before he was able to swing himself up to catch hold of Beryl's finger in his mouth, biting down. Beryl starred for a moment before started to laugh, loud peels of laughter, as if the attack was rather amusing, "He's got a lot of guts for something so small." The teenaged spawn commented as he watched as the pale beast tried to chew on him.
"Ah! No! Beryl! D-Don't just let him eat you!" Bijou cried, reaching out to grab hold of the spiny beast with both hands, pulling him away from Beryl. Much to the surprise of those watching the beast didn't turn and attack Bijou, instead seeming to calm a bit when he was back in the hands of the one that belonged to him.
Aden reached out to catch hold of his son's hand, looking the wound over. It wasn't anything really, a few puncture wounds only. The doctor had seen far worse, "You should rinse that off." He suggested before looking over at the fretting Langston, "You have a sink?"
And were was Midori during all the drama? He wasn't paying attention, not in the least bit. Instead he was moving a finger along the glass of the Beryl looking dragon's cage, getting the brightly colored thing chasing his finger. Turning toward Aden as though nothing else were happening of importance other then him playing with the creature he said, "I want this one! Get it for me?"
Aden nodded, "Sure." He answered instantly, without even looking at what he was talking about, since he wanted to make sure Bijou was alright with that thing in his hands as well as wanting Beryl to go wash his hand since they didn't know where the spiny thing's mouth had been.
