A sigh fell from his thin lips once again as he watched another minute roll off the clock. It had been an hour since Zack was supposed to be home and Marcus became more tense as he sat there, waiting for him. He sat on the couch, wondering where he could be, looking from the clock, to the door, to the drink on the table. He picked up the glass and finished it off, looking over at the door again. Turning his head back to the clock, he glared at the it as another minute went by, making his tightly clenched fist that was resting on his knee twitch a bit... He hated when Zack was late. He hated not knowing where he was. Was he with someone else? Had he missed the bus? All of these thoughts worried him...
Worried and aggravated him... He could feel that sick kind of feeling in his stomach again. All that anger building up inside him. He felt like screaming, but would at least wait until Zack got home... He stood up and walked over to the door, pacing from it to the other side of the room. He continued doing that as his thoughts wandered on where his boyfriend could be... Could he be right outside the door? That thought made him stop in his track and look up from the floor to the door again. When it seemed no one was coming in, he continued his pacing.
He started thinking once again of what to say when Zack did come home... If he did that is... He was going to College now. He was making friends or so he told him. Maybe he found someone else... Marcus clenched his teeth tightly as that thought entered his head. He hated thinking about that... He hated it because it was all too possible.
Marcus wasn't the best boyfriend... He always lashed out at Zack. And Marcus was positive that if Zack ever did find someone else, he would take the first chance he got to leave Marcus... His fists clenched up again and he tried to calm down a little. Though it wasn't really working... He loved Zack. More than anything else in the world.
And he'd be damned if he was ever going let somebody else take him away... Even if it was his parents trying to get him to come home again. He'd fight them off like the first time... His anger was only rising as his thoughts continued and he gulped slightly. You can't see him when your like this... He told himself. He knew he'd end up hitting him again.... With a slow and shaky breath, Marcus closed his eyes. Thinking back to a good memory of when he and Zack just started dating...
It was the first time Zack said he loved him... He gulped again and pictured the words coming from his mouth in that sweet and quiet voice... I love you, Marcus... His fists slowly unclenched and he could breath steadily again, though he was still mad that he was late. He opened his eyes and looked at the clock, glaring once again. He began walking down the hall of their apartment and to the bathroom. He turned on the sink and splashed his face with cold water, hoping that would help with the whole red face.
As he stared in the mirror, letting the cold water run, he looked into his own eyes. They looked so mean... How could Zack ever love him... It made no sense. He always yelled at him, he was abusive in almost every kind of way... Who could love such a p***k... He told him self and stared down in the sink, watching the water run. Memories of his childhood ran in his head. All the fighting and yelling... It reminded him of how he and Zack fought...
