In Flanders Fields By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-191 cool Canadian Army
IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

I didn't mean to make anyone cry... it's just such a very beautiful poem and I wanted to share it...

You should see what Margaret Atwood did with that poem. It's really cool. She took the words of the first verse and fleshed them out with her own stories. If you like the original, you should read her transformation.
It doesn't make me cry, but it is very beautiful.

I'm with TMO. Every year on ANZAC day that poem gets recited at schools across Australia, and every year my brain tunes it out a little more. Over-use ruins all potentially good things.
I voted 'creepy'. The last verse is like 'we will haunt you if you forget us'. D00d.
