Extra: Hikagen was only recently promoted to Head of the Main Branch after the death of his brother. Criticism surrounding his flighty nature and the mysterious circumstances behind his promotion has caused Hikagen to become a jittery bundle of nerves. He is constantly fretting over his popularity with others and dislikes making definitive decisions. He tends to speak through his partner, the Branch House's leader, and avoid direct contact with others whenever possible.
At the same time, Hikagen refuses to back down from his position at Clan Head and his hyper-cautious disposition has made him into a strict, bordering on ruthless leader. As timid as he may be, he won't hesitate to neutralize a perceived threat.

Life's Story:
Hikagen was originally intended to become head of the Hyuga Clan's Branch House while his older brother succeeded their father as leader of the Main House. That is to say, this was the case until his older brother was assassinated three years ago. It was only shortly after the incident that Hikagen's aging father's health began to rapidly decline, leaving Hikagen to take on the role of Clan Head.
Before taking ill, Hikagen's father had been deeply opposed to his "weaker" son succeeding him in his brother's place, while Hikagen himself had always been the favored child of his mother. This has only exacerbated the unrest in the Main House, caused primarily by the fact that the perpetrator behind his brother's death was never found. Due to the promotion the assassination brought him, Hikagen believes the rest of the clan views him with suspicion and contempt, which in turn has made him paranoid of being overthrown.
While on the surface he is self-conscious and weak-willed, Hikagen is a frighteningly competent medic-nin and notorious for being quick to activate the cursed seal.
