I've recently heard about a creepypasta (or urban legend, whatever) called "The Slenderman", and i wanted to know more about it.
Appearance, story, possibly powers, any info you people have will do, because i think this one is a creepypasta that's worth investigating...

There are a few different origins that are suggested for the slender man. Many claim that he was a made up thing from the Something Awful forums, but like a lot of "made up" stories, there's always either a kernel of truth or an already existing myth. Seeing as how I am 26, that's long before the Something Awful forums thought it up. He was, indeed wearing a black suit, looked as if he had very stilted legs, and had 2 very long arms. It wasn't until a few years ago that I thought to look for a myth concerning it. I had never heard or seen anything concerning him when I was a child. The sudden interest in searching for it for me was spurred by a friend showing me the Marble Hornets videos. Needless to say, it freaked me out considerably.

Thank you for the information. It really helped a lot with my reaserch, tough, i have been studying him for quite a while, since this topic didn't get any replies since i've made it. I already know the Marble Hornets Project, and i find it a very disturbing proof, but i don't tend to believe in creepypastas, i study them because i find it extremely fun and scary...
By the way, i would be very grateful if you could tell me more about your dream, if you still remember the details, of course...

I know what you mean about the interest in "Slendy" xd I have a pretty strange fascination with him. I have been pretty into other stories like that (even obviously fake ones) but there's something about this that... I dunno... creeps me out.
I'd heard about Slenderman from a friend who'd been looking at the Marble Hornets stuff, lots of people say it's fake. I'm not sure, but some of the non-MH pictures on google really make me nervous. I can't remember exactly, but I'm dead sure that I've had nightmares about him before. I'm ten years younger than Silvermoonfall but still, that's far too long ago by my count.
There's a truth in every story, but I'm not sure on what proof there is for now. I'm pretty curious though, lemme know if you find any information.

Well, i am collecting info as well, i was hoping for this thread to be a good source, but nobody posts here, so i'm looking up to other places.
I don't believe in most creepypastas i read, but still, i love to read them, scary things and horror stories fascinates me. Another one i'm into is BEN DROWNED. It is one the most... How can i say it... Real i've ever seen.
It really creeps me out.

I know about most of the popular pastas including BEN, which was one of the first ones I ever read. It creeped me out quite a bit, but also reinvented my interest in the Majora's Mask game biggrin
With Slendy tons of people imply that there are references to it in mythology, but so far either there has been none or my search was not very thorough. I find it interesting when people show it to go that far back though, because to me legends seem far more realistic when there's mention of it in the far past. Cool eh?

Unholy Omen By the way, i would be very grateful if you could tell me more about your dream, if you still remember the details, of course... Sorry it took me so long to respond. Real life ate me. Well, that and it makes me really paranoid to talk or write about Slenderman. I don't remember a lot of the dream. I was at my Papaw's house and I had looked out of the window, which was around a story and a half up and saw someone pass by it. That piqued my curiosity and I went outside to see what was going on. When he noticed me, he started chasing me. I ran around the block and back towards Papaw's house. He caught me and held me down, though since he was crouching, his limbs were almost cage like around me. I struggled to no avail. For some reason I was screaming out something to the effect of don't rape me. Thing is, I don't think I even knew what rape was yet at that age. Of course, taking that into consideration, one must remember that the word rape has a few connotations. Also, there's a chance I just got the word wrong in my head since I was definitely a kid. It all sounds simple enough, but it's hard to describe all the feelings that were running through me. I definitely knew that if he caught me he was going to take me away.

Yes, that was the only time I dreamed about him, thankfully. I don't know if I'd be able to handle it well, now, considering I have night terrors. Harli_Nightmare Wow that's some freaky stuff Agreed!
