We got the news yesterday. He has about 6 months until his quality of life becomes too poor and a decision will have to be made whether to put him down.
His name is Brownie, and he's the family dog, not just mine, and he is almost thirteen. He's a half-Chow, half-German Sheperd that we adopted him from the pound at age 2, and the vet said he had been so badly malnourished he probably would not live. But he did. He's lived a long, full life for a dog of his size and all we can really do now is make the final part of his life as comfortable and happy as possible. He really is part of the family, he's been around for nearly half my life, and it is hard to imagine him not being here.
I've lost four pets in my lifetime and it just never gets any easier. Any prayers on his behalf would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

Oh sweety, this hurts my heart. May the God grant you strength and the Goddess comfort your heart in this difficult time.

As one who was raised with a whole passel of critters, from dogs and cats to bunnies and birds, I can empathize with you. Make the best of what time you have left with him, and see to it that he is in as little pain as possible.
