Today was the day. If you'd asked Amerald what day, he would have likely just shrugged you off, and gone back to tending his shop. When he'd recieved the first letter from this Tyler fellow, concern had flared. He'd heard a rumor of the Hraapea. This was a dangerous thing in and of itself, especially since it could mean the end of both himself, and his darling children. So, he'd done what any sane father would do....He'd written him back. After a few exchanges about his work, and how it would go, he finally had just told Tyler to meet him here.

It would be best if he found a way to keep Tyler quiet...and Amerald almost wonderd if including this man in his experiments would be that way. So, standing outside his shop, he was waiting patiently for Tyler to arrive. Silver hair was done neatly back, and blue eyes were stoic....Moments of truth.

It had taken quite some time to travel here from his own Lab in the Science sector of Aerr, and he was tired from the journey, yet excited to finally meet the man who might just be able to provide him some clues for his own research. He was carrying a small sort of briefcase/suitcase as he came down the path - having come straight here from the train station without even finding a place to stay yet whilst he was here. Though the tone of Amerald's letters had been congenial, Tyler got the feeling somehow that the other man was nervous about this meeting for some reason. If he ended up being sent home straight off, he'd be disappointed ... but ... he hoped that wouldn't happen.

And it was obvious when he spotted Tyler just who he was. Frowning darkly, he moved to meet him, standing in front of the man and giving him a congenial smile, "Tyler, I take it?" He offered a hand, standing at his tallest, and showing himself to be the confident man he was, "My name is Amerald Laraan. I am the one to whom you spoke by letter." Formality and an ice not usually used glazed over Amerald as he spoke. This was protection for his family...and all the families....Until he knew this Tyler better.

Tyler blinked at the other at that cold tone. He'd expected something of the sort from the letters, but ... not to this extent. Reaching out to shake that hand, he eyed the other. "If I might ask ... what is it that I have done to offend you so? I picked up on it a little in your letters, but now..." he trailed off, looking rather confused.

Amerald took a slow breath, leading Tyler into the shop as he decided it was time to explain, "...The nature of my research, Tyler, is a classified thing. Only myself, the men and women who have my children, and the children themselves know of it. You must understand that I am concerned not only for my own well-being in this one, but for the well-being of my family....and the other families around Aerr." He sighed, rubbing his temples, "The fact that you know at ALL is a heavy-pressing concern on my mind."

The Doctor blinked at that, tilting head a little bit. Families...? What in the world was he talking about? "I ... have no intentions of harming you or anyone that you care about," he said slowly. "All that I know of your research is a much-passed-on rumor heard from one of my assisstants, that what you are doing here might be similar to some things I've been trying to work out in my own lab."

He sighed a bit, "...You knowing is enough, Tyler." As he said this, Amelia came out from the back, worried. The shop was closed today, after all, and the fact that her father was making soundss like that at someone....Something was wrong. Looking at Tyler, she let her wings fluff up, standing behind him, "Is something the matter, papa?" Amerald sighed....And there went the hidden part, "....No dear....Go to the back. Papa's taking care of it." Looking back to Tyler, he frowned, "Something more complex, I fear....than what you seem to realize, but delicate research none the less."

Tyler blinked as the child suddenly emerged from the back ... a child with -wings-. He couldn't help but stare for a moment, until she disappeared again ... then his gaze shifted back to Amerald. "I ... believe that I begin to see..." he murmured, glancing back to where the child had been a moment ago. "Though you should know ... I would never ...even think of harming a child."

Taking a slow breath, Amerald looked at him seriously, "How was I to know that?" He asked. Honestly, he'd never met Tyler. How was he supposed to know that the other wouldn't turn him and his children in? "So....You wish to be a part of my research, Tyler?" He had to ask. If so....Perhaps he could strike a deal with this man. A child...A Hraapea for Tyler to watch, and for the child to keep his eyes on the man.....and to use a feather he'd been hoping to for quite some time.

"You had no way of knowing," Tyler answered the first question immediately. "I understand your caution now, and ... I will not mention this to anyone else if you wish." He paused then, blinking at the offer. Be part of his research? "I ... how would I do that?"

"You will not mention it to anyone else.....Because I will give you one of the children to take care of." He said, softly. Those eyes looked at him seriously, and he held out a rooster's feather, "All I need is some of your DNA, Tyler. Once I have that, Tyler, if you stay over for...a day or so, You shall become a part of the process....Does this sound fair?" Oh it was so much more than that. The people who took his Hraapea home with them....Those were their children. This created families too...

Tyler blinked at that, rather aghast at the offer, now that he understood what it involved. "I .... you would trust me that much?" he asked, at a bit of a loss for words at this point.

"....It is for my own sake as well as yours." He explained, not meaning to make the man think that he trusted him entirely, "The child ensures that I will have a way to talk to you and keep an eye on you with some necessity." He offered a friendly smile, "Now, would you like some dinner?" Ahh....the formalities of business~.

Tyler hesitated for just a moment, and then nodded, eyes straying to that feather. "Of course I will join you for dinner ... and ... I accept your offer. I hope that I will prove to be a good guardian for the ah. Future child..."

"Perfect." With that, Amerald turned on his heel, and lead Tyler back into his home, smiling. This would either prove VERY fortuitous, or very bad. The former seemed to be the one to which Tyler was most likely inclined, and the thought of this filled him with glee. One more child....One more life changed.
