In recent years teenagers have come more and more into the entertainment industry such as Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Rebecca Black, etc. With this comes an image that should be illegal- and yet no one is really saying anything, partially due to the fact that America's shock factor is overused. That is, nothing really surprises us anymore. Violence, sex and drug use seem to be the norm of society, and it's no different with child stars.
Recently a company called Artist Makers Enterprise has signed young teens to their recording company, including Rebecca Black and a new girl called Jenna Rose. The point of this rant is this. It's Jenna Rose's new single, and this girl, who happens to be twelve years old, is in a video which entertains the notion that only those who look good can have sex. And let's not forget the semi-revealing clothing she is wearing. In conclusion... what the ******** is wrong with America? Why is this okay?

i blame expansion of the mass media and the message the main tv companies put out there like MTV.
They make it seem like being a teen parent is ok, they like to show stuff like Real World, Jersey Shore where sex and conflict and sleeping around is predominantly shown.
It's a shame crying

Yes, the media does show more sex today than it did sixty years ago. But did you know in 1957, the teen pregnancy rate was 50% higher than it is today? We're educating people a lot more nowadays than just "SEX IS BAD, DON'T DO IT." Shows like Teen Moms, I think, do have an impact at some point. In no way do the girls on there glorify it; in fact, they say that they'd like to take it back and at least protect themselves better, if not be abstinent. But yeah, then there's shows like Jersey Shore that glorify the party scene and sleeping around. How this affects teens, I'm not really sure. But worshiping these trashy people is pretty low.

We can blame the creation of the pill. surprised It did change the world, for better and also some for the worse twisted
Yeah, the media and shows like jersey shore kidna sometimes give people the wrong idols to look up.
oh and tv pointing to the negatives in news more than the positives. you always see stuff about murder, kidnapping, rape, robbery etc. but nothing positive like helping a charity, and stuff. if they do show it, it only gets a small amount of attention emo

Yep, like I said, America likes tragedy. And once again, they've seen it so much it doesn't bother them. Suicidal/homicidal threats are thrown around so carelessly that when they are meant, people don't realise it till it's too late. It's really sad. The thing is with MTV is that it wasn't really meant for thirteen-year-olds; it was made for people my age. (I'm twenty.) But since they seem to be marketing teenagers nowadays, they probably should consider what they're putting on. Then again, the greedy corporate bastards at Viacom don't really care about the youth of America, just ratings and money. So I highly doubt that'll happen anytime soon. What's your reasoning on the pill? You mean the birth control pill, right? xD

I think she's pretty, but she shouldn't be wearing enough makeup and not enough clothes to make her look like a twelve-year-old streetwalker. :/ And yeah, at least one hopes she would feel stupid for... that... later on in life. She might not, though, which is sad.
