Thud. Thud. Thud.
Feet concealed in high end mens dress shoes echoed their steps in a smooth and steady rhythm against the cobble stoned walkway. While the echoes did not hold a slow pace, they were not quick either. It was even all in all seeing as the man walking was in no real rush at the moment. Once again Verchiel found himself making his way to a chosen guardians abode with two tasks that needed to be completed. First, the inspection of the home to ensure it was suitable for the slumbering gift to reside in and secondly to further analyze the guardians worth. Just as before, earlier in the day, he had been given a list of people to interview, people who had shown some form of interest in being a guardian for the elusive beauties that Amerald held dear to his heart and whom he thought were worthy. While before he felt the man too trusting when choosing guardians, over time he had come to see things in a new light.
Just with all other guardians that came before this one, Verchiel had spent some time gathering information on the womans history and was content with the things he learned. He was even amused to find that they had a few things in common. So much so he had to chuckle. With a flick of his right wrist and a glance downward, Verchiel took note of the current time and smirked. Five minutes ahead of schedule. As per usual.
Three more minutes passed before he came to stand outside the front entrance of his targets house. In silence he raised his right hand once again and gave the door three firm knocks before lowering his hand once again. In his left hand was a black brief case with unknown cargo but by the way he carried it and with how the handle and his wrist were cuffed together, it was easy to tell that whatever was in this case was very precious to him or rather very important and could not be put at risk of being stolen.

Justyna sighed and took her glasses off. She had been translating some writing on an urn one of her old school friends sent her. She could so far tell it was used in some sort of ceremony but couldn't figure out the last part of the writing. It was severely scratched on the bottom so she wasn't able to tell what any of the ancient symbols were. After staring at the urn and not being able to will the scratches to fade, she got up and went to go make something to eat.
She was half way to her kitchen when she heard a knocking on her door. Muttering a silent curse she headed to the door and expected it to be her colleague wanting that translation on the urn already. She grabbed the door handle when a sudden pain flared through her left leg making her almost double over. Quickly massaging her leg to make the pain bearable, Justyna let go of the door handle and reached for her cane next to the door. She hated using the thing since it reminded her of why she worked from home.
Straightening herself up and taking a deep breath she once again grabbed the door handle and opened the door. To her surprise it was not who she expected but instead a man she didn't know. "Um... hello" was all she was able to say. Her eyes barely able to look at the man. She wondered what he could possibly be doing here and her thoughts quickly jumping to the worst possibilities.

"Hello Ms. Justyna. I'll make this visit quick as I am sure there is much you have to do before the day is over and being a fellow researcher of sorts I would find it most rude to consume a great deal of your time."
He'd fallen silent allowing his eyes to give her a one over but it was not in a crude manner as most men did. No, for someone like her, it would be easy to tell that he was studying her. No not studying her, perhaps memorizing her would be the better word for it. First his gaze started with her hair, then her face all the way down to her clothing, cane in hand and shoes. Why he was memorizing her would of course be beyond her knowledge but his reasoning was simple. He wanted to have a visual of the person who was obtaining this little blessing.
"I am Verchiel Corbet, apprentice to Amerald and I am here concerning and interest you brought to his attention. If you don't mind, I think it would be best to continue this conversation inside."

A sigh of relief came out of Justyna. A fellow researcher he said. Maybe bringing her a new artifact or some writings to solve. Her rising excitement fell when she noticed him studying her. Now she absolutely knew he was a researcher because that was the almost same look she was giving the urn in her study not that long ago. She began wondering what his field of study was when he introduced himself.
"Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Corbet. Yes, of course come in. Would you like something to drink? I was just about to get something myself when you knocked."
She opened the door wider and moved aside to let him in. She looked around quickly and was glad to see that her house looked clean. Luckily she had cleaned a few days ago and had not managed to mess it up. Except for the study that is. She would have to keep him away from there if she wanted to look professional before this man.

"While I appreciate the offer, that will not be necessary as my visit shall be brief."
In a smooth and fluid motion he entered her abode, a jade colored orbs ever watchful and studying the decor of the place failing to miss any detail. He moved over to a wall for no particular reason other than to keep from standing in the middle of the room. He figured he could wait a while at any rate as the procedure to be taken would be a fast one and as it were, she'd been about to prepare sustenance for herself before he arrived.
"I shall wait here while you acquire sustenance and do take your time. I am in no rush and I wouldn't want you to put more strain on your leg."

"Very well then. May I ask the nature of your visit? I don't get many guests so excuse me if I seem rude."
She closed the door, watched him come in, and tried to study him as he looked about he house. Her leg unfortunately went into another spasm, this one was only a mild one and just made her close her eyes and wince. Another deep breath and she saw that he had taken to standing by the wall. She smiled softly when he said he could wait while she got a drink.
"That's mighty kind of you to think of me. If you follow me, we can find you a seat so you don't have to stand." She headed off to the kitchen and motioned for him to follow her.

Verchiel found no issues with following her lead as she so beckoned him to do. Getting off his feet would be a nice reprieve from the long walk, that and it would make their conversation a bit more personal as they would be at the same eye level...more or less since he was indeed a tall man.
"A very good question indeed. No need for apologies. I am here concerning the Hraapea who have chose to serve as a guardian for. As with all guardians that have come before you, I have come here to inspect your home to make sure it is suitable and to answer any lingering questions you might have before leaving you with your new ward."

She listened to his words and her interest suddenly peaked. What a day this was turning out to be. She led him down the hall and into the dining room. It was a good sized room for a few people. There was a table with 4 chairs in the middle of the room.
"I see. Please take a seat at the table. I will join you again as soon as I get something to drink."
Justyna pulled out a chair for Verchiel and headed off the the kitchen in the adjacent room. There she opened her fridge and pulled out the milk and then got a glass. Pouring the milk only halfway, she drank the glass then filled it halfway again. She put the milk away and then proceeded to rejoin her guest in the dining room.

Verchiel simply gave her request a curt nod before finding himself a seat and taking it. To keep his cuffed wrist comfortable, he set the briefcase on his lap and waited patiently for Justyna's return. His eyes roamed across the decor of the room, locking away every detail within his memory for safe keeping but his attention returned to the door frame when his ears picked up on the soft scuffle of Justyna's return.
"So have you any questions for me regarding your Hraapea?"

Justyna remained silent as she sat down next to Verchiel. She did have questions but none she could seem to think of at that moment. It was all so strange. Normally she would have jumped with questions at the chance but she still remained silent. In the end she decided to simply ask one question.
"When may I pick it up?"

A smile crept onto his lips, but because this was a rarity in itself, the smile although genuine made him appear all out sadistic. In silence he moved the briefcase cuffed to his wrist to wrest atop the table. With a single fluid motion, he moved his free hand to the chest pocket of his vest and removed a silver key only to soon after uncuff himself from the briefcase.
"Oh there will be no picking up of your ward as your ward has already arrived. All that remains is to awaken him or her."
There were a few series of clicks before finally the briefcase was open revealing a white feather with slanted black stripes rest on a blue silk pillow. Beside it was a vial of blue liquid and a needle.
“Before you is a feather that comes from the Snowy Owl."
As he spoke, he removed the vial and the needle from the brief case and then removed the cork that prevented the blue liquid from spilling out of the vial. In a single and fluid motion he turned to Justyna, moved over to her, grabbed her wrist and pulled it closer only to soon after p***k her index finger with the needle and allow two droplets of blood to fall within the vial. Within a matter of seconds that liquid turned purple and began to glow. Without a single word he removed a syringe from his vest pocket, collected the liquid with it and then injected it into the feather.
Once the task was complete, he removed the pillow from the briefcase and set it in a chair before placing the syringe, needle and now empty vial inside the briefcase and closing it. With that done, he stood and made his way for the exit. Once there he paused for a brief moment.
“You will need to place the pillow on a large and flat surface, however I suggest that you make sure the surface is comfortable. You wouldn’t want your ward to be uncomfortable when it awakens. If any questions may arise in the future, feel free to contact me.”
With that said, Verchiel placed a contact card on a near by table and left. He still had much to do and very little time to do it in.

The few seconds passed by in a blur as she stared at the feather and then had her finger pricked. She pressed down on her finger to apply pressure and stop the bleeding. Turning back to Verchiel she saw him inject the feather with that strange liquid. She admired the feather and wondered if the child would be just as beautiful.
"I understand. Thank you for stopping by."
No other words needed to be spoken. There was work to be done. Taking another swing of milk, she gently lifted the pillow and headed for her spare bedroom. She left the cane behind, thinking that she can make it. Opening the door to the dark room, she headed to the bed and placed the pillow at the head of the bed. She looked about the almost bare room and decided she would have to go shopping once the child awakens. She would have done so earlier but she didn't want to buy anything before knowing the gender. She opened the blinds so some light shined through. She would need the light to write down her thoughts in her journal. Which she needed to get from the study. Muttering about what an airhead she was, she headed off to get it. This was something she needed to write down while it was fresh in her mind.
