After the deadline expired and an initial 1 day extension, the NFL and the players have agreed to extend talks an additional week, meaning that the current bargaining agreement will not expire now til March 11th.

Many players and owners see this as a positive sign and have hopes that a new deal will be worked out in the week to come since both sides have agreed to extend the deadline. However NFL lead negotiator Jeff Pash said. “We've got very serious issues, we’ve got significant differences.”

Of course if a new deal cannot be met by the end of next Friday, talks can be extended once more, but many players have shown a dis-interest in doing so, and want a deal to be met this next week.
