With Dragon Age II’s release imminent, senior producer Fernando Melo feels the sequel has far more reach than Origins, even potentially attracting the same kind of crowd that flocks to gaming’s biggest franchise, Call Of Duty.
Speaking to NowGamer Melo said: “We have data that shows there are a lot of people that enjoy playing RPGs although they won’t necessarily call them RPGs. They’ll play Fallout, Assassin’s Creed and even Call Of Duty, which have these progression elements – you’re putting points into things – but they don’t necessarily associate that as an RPG. So we think that if we expand that out we’ll attract a much bigger audience.”

There’s certainly logic in his thinking, and with individuals who failed to be enticed by BioWare’s original epic actually being swayed by the sequel – not to mention the upcoming demo giving gamers a chance to sample its goods first – there’s every change Dragon Age II may succeed in this goal.

Yeeeeaaahh... They can try. But I don't think they'll go far with that. CoD crowd is a totally different crowd from the Bioware fans. We're LotR and D&D nerds. CoD's majority of fans are a bunch of jocks, army brats and little kids with parents who place a violent video game in front of their face and call it "parenting". DA is just waay too nerdy for that crowd.

I really hope that doesn't happen. I have huge problems with CoD's so-called "community." I do not want to see them come over to a game I'll be playing regularly.

They can try but it won't work. ._.
Plus i wouldn't like to see the CoD community over on DA. I mean... Other than the occasional nice person now and then.. There just jerks. They would be polluting DA'S community... IMO at least.
Plus i don't even think the CoD community would want to try a game like DA out.

I agree its not the way to go, their fan base is great where it is and if they
are looking to expand their audience they should look into getting
maybe the FF crowd or maybe the WoW crowd but idk those stretches
seem like they can be just as wide.

NowGamer Melo is not too bright then, the people who see a game and call it an RPG when in all reality it isnt they are stupid to consider so. Dragon Age, Star Ocean, and Final Fantasy fans would go beserk over fools like that. Assassin's Creed is an awesome game but is in no way an RPG.

Plus in my opinion Call of Duty sucks and is a repitive boring game. Games like DA, Assassins Creed, Fable, and the like have variety things to keep one occupied. So this would certainly not happen, the CoD community are azzhats as well, I played on my friends live account and they are just rude to everyone they meet.

I hope my opinion hasnt offended anyone but you asked for an opinion so . . .yeah.

Not many FF fans have gone with this style of games, but I am one of the few who love FF and Star Ocean that likes games like DA.

I wouldnt consider the WoW community with this for they probably seek a game experience they have 20 people helping them which they will not get in DA, but personally DA beats WoW in my opinion. WoW is Dungeons and Dragons on steriods that doesnt have originality.

I have to agree with you in a way, Personally I like WoW and play hardcore RPGs but I was a fan of bioware long before I was a WoW player.
Honestly at first glance bioware capturing the FF audience may not seem
like a stretch but after thinking about I think Bioware has already acquired all the FF style audience they can without making more J style rpgs
(I consider Jade Empire more of an homage to old kung fu movies than a J style game)

I have no problem with them expanding the fan base, just as long as they don't ruin the game in doing so. Although, CoD is a shooter and is an entirely different genre than DA >_> The only way to really appeal to CoD fans, in my opinion, would be to have it like a shooter, which would no longer be DA anymore. (although if they somehow made ranger an fps class like oblivion has, but I dunno how that would even work)

I think the CoD thing was more a way to say mainstream gamer
I mean, you don't say ghost recon gamers or Rainbow 6 gamers because while those games have a very solid fan base, who are incredibly dedicated to them and usually hates CoD with a passion (Run and gun B.S.), CoD is more mainstream and on every consoles and on pc.
So I think they just meant "about every gamers"
