a preface:

hi hi to anyone reading. if you hadn't caught it yet, this is my journal. welcome welcome. I will do my best to keep it as updated as possible. if you ever need to speak with me, just toss me a private message, don't be shy, I'll get back to you damn near instantly if i'm home~

my life has been, as of late, taking a drastic turn for the better. I'm not around as much as I would like anymore, but I will do my best to stay on top of things. this journal will be a bit sparse until I have more time to fill it out some <3

i think i'll save the rest of this for any little announcements i may feel need to be made <3

PROFILE.ganymede

Name: Ganymede

Personality: A pretty face and appealing coloration hide the mind of a frightened, nervous boy. Pheasants, often hunted for sport, are a species that live in constant danger, especially the males, who are genetically flashier and more vibrant. This holds true for Ganymede, who will never have to worry about being hunted for sport, but will always have to live with his wings, and the fact that he isn't a normal little boy, just like the ones he sees playing outside. He'll always be a bird. He's confused, so confused, so lost and out of place in a society which still isn't quite used to having the results of science gone mad wandering the streets.

Lonely and timid, Ganymede wishes for friends and a normal life, but he can never quite build himself up enough to get the few words out to prompt an introduction. A social butterfly he is not, but sometimes he likes to imagine himself a tiny chrysalis, filled with unlimited potential, ready to burst forth and take a life for himself. It's just a little dream, but it fills him with hope, just enough to survive with what is probably a mild case of depression he's obtained from his own father's genes.

PROFILE.geraldt

Name: Geraldt White

Age: 27

Appearance: Nothing out of the ordinary, maybe not a man you'd want to buy a drink for on a whim, but certainly not unapproachable! At just under six feet tall, Geraldt is neither towering nor diminutive, and his broad shoulders and proper posture give off a certain manly sort of charm. His angled, handsome face is unfamiliar with real joy, only the occasional chuckle Ganymede is able to bring to his face. Dark blue, almost slate-colored, eyes sit below a powerful brow, and his head is crowned by a mane of raven hair, usually tied back into a low tail for the sake of manageability. The only real evidence of any kind of vanity is his beard, which he pays special attention to keep well-groomed. Generally, he is calm and collected, always in fine clothing and a measured look on his face.

Occupation: Geraldt is a university professor, fresh out of a university himself. His field of expertise is ancient civilizations and the cultures related.

Personality: Geraldt's cold eyes and his seldom smile make him appear much harsher and more severe than he actually is. He is soft-spoken and level-headed, deeply analytical and approaches everything with as little outside emotion injected as possible. He is slow to anger and even slower to upset, with most unintentional offense drawing an exasperated sigh and most intentional insults only eliciting a tiny chuckle. He's just a detached man.

The only real area he shows any emotion in is the raising of his son, surrogate or not. Ganymede fascinates him, the only part of the world that feels familiar and similar to him. He wants only the best for the boy, and that leads to the few examples of actual stern words from his mouth. He never means to yell, but he's scared, almost as scared as the boy himself, that he'll do something wrong. He wants to protect the boy, it's his only real goal in life.

History:There are many doors across many world, veritable portals to otherwheres and whens, a prime example being the Portal itself, found in Aerr. The world is just thinner in some places, the very fabric of reality strained under the weight of infinite worlds and people. It stands to reason that if there's one hole in space, there's bound to be more, places where one could just... push through. It is from one of these alleys in the cloth of everything that Geraldt came from. His memories of the place fade as time goes on spent in this new world, and he has the feeling he'll forget it all, soon. But that's not what's important, not the girl who he once knew and not the life he once had.

He arrived when he was barely a man, not a day over seventeen, at the outskirts of Korr. It's almost laughable how simply and quickly a extra-dimensional traveler integrates into society, but that's mostly owed to Geraldt's own superior intellect, and, indeed, his own desensitization to trauma such as this. He had come from a world where such things as skipping worlds were thought to be works of the greatest fiction, fantasies to daydream of but nothing more. He had always hoped to leave his old life, so getting there was more of a dream come true than culture shock.
He stayed in Korr for a few years, until it became evident that his expansive mind would be well suited for more … academic affairs than working as a deckhand on a fishing ship. After a small amount of debate, he set off for Aerr, with the intent to find some way of getting into one of the universities there. Fortunately for him, the laws of physics, life, matter, science, math, the accepted qualitative principles of his old life held true here, so the only problem he had was history. How does one begin to understand an entire people that have nothing to do with your own? Beyond that, an entire planet of differing people? It only presented a healthy challenge to Geraldt, however, and he excelled, even came to love it. The stories of old fascinated him, it was just like studying fiction, only realized. It would eventually become his career.

It was in college that Geraldt would become acquainted to a fellow history student, soon to be an upstart young scientist, who went by the name of Amerald. Though they were no close friends, they had spoken on a few occasions, and Geraldt did not mind his company. So when Amerald approached him with a radical idea, another one on top of the almost impossible notion of Geraldt's arrival on the world, he went with it. The idea was to take a small amount of his DNA, and, using it, create a whole new life form, using a pheasant feather. It was insane, of course, and Geraldt agreed. He had nothing to call his own in this world, nothing like him, and the idea of a son appealed to him a great deal. It was a success, of course, Amerald being the brilliant scientist he was, and Ganymede and Geraldt went off their own way.
