Hello all. I am creating this thread because I am a duelist who has only recently come back to the game and am in need of some assistance. I am lookin to build some new decks because quite frankly my old ones are most likely outdated and would get obliterated by the new strategies that exist now.

I know one type I'm particularly interested in is the Blackwing monsters so if anyone has some suggestions for decks involving them I'd really appreciate it. Of course other ideas are good too seeing as I plan on making several decks in the weeks to come (and maybe over the weekend I'll post my old decks so I can get some input on how to possibly improve them as well). Thank you for taking the time to read and I look forward to your input. Happy dueling biggrin

Jazzy Synchron has decided to make me explain how the deck works.

Let's start out with breaking down the monsters. Oh, first, I'm assuming you understand card advantage and how synchro summoning works.

Blackwing - Blizzard
This card special summons a Blackwing from the graveyard upon its normal summon. This is an automatic +1 to your card count. You gain a card for nothing. Yes, it's in defense mode and you can't attack with it but Blizzard is also a tuner. Blizzard is a tuner who isn't limited like Vayu is. Blizzard is overall weak though, it should primarily be used as a gainer or auto-synchro.

Blackwing - Bora
Bora is kind of an anomaly in the YGO world. He has no real effect aside from his ability to swarm and pierce. In the end he seems to simply be a 1700 beater to use for monster side field sweepers. How? Well, in the end, destroying a monster via battle is a +1 before all other effects are taken into consideration. So, say your opponent has two monsters on the field, both under 1700. You have two Bora in hand. Summon one, special summon the next and kill off two of your opponent's cards. You've gained from this one simple maneuver.

Blackwing - Gale
This is the premier Blackwing monster. It has Bora's special summon effect along with a permanent stat dropping effect. Gale was and remains the only Blackwing monster to ever be splashed in decks that don't use other Blackwing monsters. He is the supreme being of the deck. His ATK halving ability allows him to crush anything under 2600 attack. Since he can special summon himself he can also allow Shura to take down anything short of a staggering 3600 attack but, we'll get to Shura later. Keep in mind that Gale is also a tuner with no synchro restrictions.

Blackwing - Kalut
The second key Blackwing monster that lead's to the deck's success. This little sucker will RARELY be on the field for an extended purpose. Honestly, there should almost be no reason for it to touch the field at all. Kalut's attack boosting effect allows anything short of 3200 to be smashed into oblivion by Shura. Couple this with Gale's effect and the monster BETTER have 6400 or more attack to handle a Shura backed by a Kalut and Gale. Also, this guy is the only nontuner worth running that's not a level four. He adds versatility to Blizzard's synchro summoning capabilities.

Blackwing - Shura
The recruiter. I've already mentioned him twice with Kalut and Gale but we'll talk solely about him for a second. Remember how I mentioned that a monster kill is, without effects, a +1? Well Shura's effect makes that a +2. They lose a card and you gain another one. The monster brought out by his effect is usually Vayu, simply because Shura will negate its effect to be used only for BW synchro summons and that it must be used in the GY. This allows you to synchro summon with the Bora and Shura on your field into Mist Wurm, or just the Shura for a lv5 synchro. Hunting down a Kalut isn't always the worst idea either. If you're sitting with a Blizzard in hand, it will add the versatility to Blizzard that I discussed earlier.

Blackwing - Sirocco
This is my least favorite of the Blackwings. He's overused in most of the game, in my opinion. He is the BEST Blackwing to couple with Black Whirlwind short of Shura. He is also a normal summon 2k beater. Not much can stand up to that in the normal summon category of this game. Also, his effect naturally couples him with things like Gale and Bora that come out alongside their bigger brother. Sirocco will pump up a single Blackwing and allow them to take down a bigger opponent that BWs might have issues with without Kalut.

Blackwing - Vayu
Probably the most overhyped Blackwing in the bunch. His in GY ability is only useful with Sirocco or the BW synchros. Elphin too but Elphin is terrible. Don't use him. Vayu's ability to be summoned with Shura is what really sets him up for usefulness, as I've already covered.

Dark Armed Dragon
The king of all Dark monsters that aren't banned. Yes, having EXACTLY three Dark monsters may be a slight hassle but when you utilize Blizzard and Vayu it's a lot easier than it sounds. Drop him and he'll force your opponent into using their powerful options or they'll lose their field.

Ok, too tired to continue, someone continue.

Icarus Attack is the absolute most necessary item to cover.

Hey, thanks for the explanations. Though I do know about card advantages, synchro summoning, and what these cards can do, I like the extra detailed strategy on how to use them. That'll definitely come in handy. biggrin If anyone would like to continue with the rest of the cards I'd appreciate it.
