I'm just kind of aghast today. I was taking my room mate to an interview for a job earlier today and there's this bridge that we have to take that goes over the 1-5 highway traffic. We saw that there was a lot of backed up traffic and the highway ramps were closed off and a lot of cops. Later on I find out from my room mate that this is what she saw when she crossed the bridge later.

14, the kid was ******** 14. The worst part that disgusts me is that with the amount of people who drove by this kid and definitely would have seen him going to jump...but no one even attempted to stop him. scream One of my best friends mother is a funeral coroner and she had to be the one to pick up the body.....

Well, the article itself says they're not sure if he jumped or if it was an accident. There was one story I heard of in which some teen was trying to spray graffiti on an overpass and fell. Not saying that this kid was there to cause mischief, just pointing out that there could have been other reasons for him being there that you're not even considering.
It also says nothing about how long he was there before he either fell or jumped. If he jumped and was determined, no one would have had time to stop him. You're also assuming that no one attempted to stop him. You don't know for sure that no one did... you just feel that since it happened, that means no one did anything to help him.
When something tragic and mind boggling happens, it's pretty common for the first response to be anger and trying to place blame... usually on others but at times people will also blame themselves. But you should keep in mind that not everything actually can be prevented. Bad things are always going to happen. I'm not saying that you should become callous about it and not care, but you shouldn't lash out at others who don't deserve to be blamed.

Agreed. The article was not nearly conclusive, nor will it be until an investigation is complete. Patience is always advised, until all the facts are known. Then a course of action can be taken. Jumping straight to action while emotions are still high only lead to more trouble. Give it time.

Yea, I know I'm speaking out of over anxious anger and what not. Like I said I was driving by it after it happened so yea I know I' m kind of jumping to things. They're still going on the investigation and from the small updates I've seen they're leaning towards suicide. I don't think I could ever imagine what runs through the minds of people in general. Times like this only make me think on things I don't wish to think, like one's own mortality. I know things are gonna happen but I try not to focus on them too much and enjoy my life as is.
It also doesn't help when later that night at one of my best friend's bday party her BF accidentally lights himself on fire making her a drink and ends up in the ER for burns. sweatdrop
Thanks for the advice TES, FireSpark. I know I was jumping to conclusions but yea....I have initial reactions.... stare

Still, if the kid's 14 (or any age for that matter) it's still fairly tragic and my heart goes out to them.
