Ever since his chat with his brother, Kimbizi had been feeling a mix of lonely and supported. He was happy, in a way, to have talked to his brother about the things that bothered him. He was a little uncomfortable about it, too, since he wasn't used to just talking about his feelings like that. He also felt lonelier than he had before in some ways, though. Talking about the things that troubled them made them more true, more tangible. It was now more apparent to Zi how much he wanted the next stage in his life to already be happening.
He was wandering today. He had a lot on his mind and an itch in his paws. Silently, never mentioning it to anyone, he sometimes wondered if there was a reason his mother had been so attracted to running. He couldn't bring himself to do something like that, but he could see it as a nicer looking option. Run away, not dealing with problems, always on the move. But what kind of life was that?
That was the kind of life Kilua lived. She moved every day, or every two days. Sometimes she revisited old places for the fun of things, sometimes she visited with old friends. She never stayed in one spot for too long, for fear it would get boring. She didn't like getting to know someone. She didn't like learning their faults, their fears, their vices. She just liked the first impression, their qualities that shown right away. It was easier that way. Safer.
Today, she was entering the Pridelands. She'd skirted the giant territory a number of times in her life of gypsying around. She'd yet to go inside it. There was a LOT of life here. The place was teeming with energy! She'd already bumped into several friendly lions and a few other creatures, too. None of them had piqued her fancy enough for a long conversation, but that didn't matter. It was still fun and interesting and new. That's when she spotted the grey and blue lion walking ahead of her. Hmmmm...

The first thing that Kilua noticed about this grey and blue stranger was that his emotional energy - the way he looked from afar, the way he walked, the air around him - was quite like the colors he wore. He seemed to be down and out, upset about something, unhappy with how things were. Killy was drawn to him for this, though it was strange. She was such a bright and happy creature, and if she wasn't she was at very least so on the surface. This lion was so openly unhappy. Though, the way he carried himself was proud. Perhaps he didn't mean to exude such an outpour of emotion. Perhaps it was simply that he couldn't contain it any longer. Whatever the cause, she was pulled in by it. Her curiosity was getting the best of her.
She was walking in his direction when it became clear that she had been noticed. Kimbizi's gaze shot to her - she was hard to miss. Bright pink and walking around like she owned the place. Zi quickly changed course and went back to sulking. He assumed that would be enough to drive away the lioness, but it wasn't. Killy was more determined than that. She quickly altered course as well, and quickened her pace to make it to him before he could try another evasive manuever. "Hello, there." She practicaly cooed out to him, trying her darndest to draw him in if only for a moment.
Zi near ignored her, only nodding his head curtly and sped up. The pink and white lioness had fallen in line beside him and had little effort in matching his new pace. "It's a nice place, here. I'm guessing you'd be a Pridelander, right?" She was trying to goad him into saying something. Unfortunately, Zi was rather stubborn today. Her response was a huff and another curt nod. "Well ain't that nice. I'm a bit of a loner myself. Although I definitely like a bit of life around me. I just don't like to be in one place too long, y'know? Gets boring." Of course, she was only telling half the truth on that one, but she'd never told anyone baout her commitment issues before. In fact, it was likely she didn't know what to make of them.
Kimbizi was now realizing he had to say something. "That's lovely." He stared straight ahead, not casting even a glance on her. For some horrible reason, they were completely alone. Go figure. The one time he could use another lion as a distraction for this lioness to leave him alone, there was nobody around.
"I'm Kilua, by the way. Some folks have called me Killy, but I go by both." She was undaunted by his apparent desire to be left alone. She was rarely concerned with manners, though she could have them if needed. She'd only be here a few days max, anyway. No need to make the best impression. "I'm assuming you have a name?"
"No." Zi said dryly. Why this girl couldn't take a hint was beyond him. Kilua quickly switched tactics to grab his attention.
"Well, that's awfully sad for you, then. Your mother didn't care enough to name you?" With that remark, she'd struck a chord. Unfortunately, it was one she hadn't meant to. Kimbizi was quick to react. He stopped and pivoted on his front legs abruptly, lips peeled back to show shiny rows of teeth, eyes glaring.
"You know nothing of my mother, or me. I suggest you keep that pretty little mouth of yours shut about things that are none of your concern or business. If you love wandering so much, this would be the perfect time to put it into practice." His anger was was trembling through him. He hadn't ever snapped at someone like that, most especially a lady he had yet to meet properly. Even in annoyance he held his tongue and remained polite and respectful. However, he couldn't handle a jab at his mother, even if it was meant in jest.
Kilua backed down quickly. She shrunk a little, put back her ears, took a step backwards. This had definitely not gone has she'd seen it playing out. Curiosity killed the cat, right? "I am sorry." With that, she took his advice and moved away. She made it a few meters before she broke into a sprint, carrying herself away from the angry male, yet deeper into the pride's territory.
Kimbizi huffed, still seethingly angry. Without a sorry thought towards her, he turned back in the direction he had been walking, and stalked rigidly away from the spot.
