What an... interesting night.
There were no doubts in Aurore's mind about what was going to happen at the graveyard, but she wasn't expecting to actually come home with a demon. Her second. She hadn't expected as many people and she hadn't expected to attract something there.
The panic and tension she had felt in the cemetery was slowly fading as she walked, Athanase floating silently behind her. The night was quiet; the only sounds being from what life was still active. Most insects were holed away or dead from cold, and other animals were either sleeping or prowling. No one would have believed that anything had happened on a peaceful night like this one.
Despite Athanase's silence, the Wendigo within Aurore was full of life. It felt as if it were tugging on the back of her mind, trying to reach its new, demonic comrade.
Ignoring this, Aurore thought about what she had seen tonight and the people who had been there. Some of them were obviously afraid, some of them didn't care. The one who had stood next to her had wanted one so badly, so desperately... What could he have needed that badly? Aurore couldn't recall.
The one that contracted the second demon... he seemed rather cold and distant. Aurore could only wonder if she would meet him again, but wasn't sure if she would have wanted to.
That little girl was terrified, too. What was she doing there?
Adjusting the strap of her bag, Aurore turned to look at the ever-silent Athanase as he floated carelessly along. What was it that attracted him to her? The boy in black said that he wanted the demon inside of her, but... what then? What would he do once the Wendigo was gone?
She turned once more, lost in thought.
They were getting closer to Aurore's apartment and Athanase's new home. She wondered if he would like the place... he had chosen her, so it looked like he really didn't have much choice at this point.
Within a few yards of the apartment, Aurore paused. What was that she was hearing...? A second set of footsteps? Turning, she glanced around to see if she was being followed, but... nothing. No one was around; the night was still. Noticing that Athanase was no longer gliding behind her, she panicked. Where could he have gone?
Other than at her feet.
A small chuckle rose from his girth as Athanase gently touched Aurore's leg, nearly causing her to fall over from surprise.
He had taken a physical form! And... a strange one, at that!
Aurore stared down at her new companion, unsure of what to make of his appearance. He was now a lump of what looked like fleshy-tissue, his stomach slit open and secreting some sort of green ooze. His acidic, green eyes stared up at her and he had the largest grin she had ever seen on such a tiny creature. Though, really, tiny wasn't the right word. He was slightly larger than an average house-cat, and only walked on two arms.
He was going to be a bit harder to walk around with than she first thought. Offering her hand, she lifted Athanase up in her arms and into her large tote. He was happy to curl up at her side and watch from the top of her bag.
Turning forward and attempting a smile, Aurore led her companion to his new home.
