Are you sure you got your facts right?
See I've heard, decorated trees being used to celebrate holidays did start with pagan religions but it was between the Romans and Germans. The Romans started the whole decorating and with the red and green, and the Germans have to do with the tree itself. BUT! The tree has nothing to do with a sun god, instead it has to do with Thor and a saint and goat chariot that became Santa's sled. I should go hunt down that History Channel episode.
And the Christmas tree is not a freaking phallic symbol! It is a representation of fertility and Spring because IT IS ALWAYS ALIVE AND GREEN ALL YEAR LONG not because of it's shape!!!
And I call BS on the mistletoe wands! First of all, mistletoe is not even considered a very magical wood out side of some small luck, a bit of protection, and maybe a poison antidote. Second, it's not even a good wood! Have you ever seen live un-cut mistletoe!?!? It's a parasitic shrub that grows on the top of dying trees and has tiny, sappy, branches. After you go through the trouble of finding a long piece, harvesting said piece, cleaning it, drying it, ect, it would still make a pretty crappy wand especially considering the wands of the past were not the small Harry Potter wands we know but big rod-like sticks and small staffs! The wands depicted in historic paintings like Hermes' caduceus are huge!!
Also, Christians DID NOT take the legend of Horus and rename it Jesus! I mean REALLY How dumb can you be!?!? Do you even know the story of Horus!?!? The only possible thing that have in common is the tittle of "Savior" but they both earned it for different reasons! The truth is Horus was a parasitic alien that helped to enslave humanity across the galaxy jkXD I highly doubt the "Loving and Forgiving" Jesus was modeled after a god of such a graphic history, unless of course you mean Jesus was an inbred bird-brain conceived through a golden d***o and grew up to slaughter his insane uncle and screwed around with his sister/mother/daughter/what ever female relation the historians agree on this century.
As for Jesus, whether or not he existed, or whether or not he was a messiah can be debated but Roman records and artifacts can not. You see, there really was a man named Pontius Pilate, and he really was a prefect of Judea around the time Jesus was crucified. This does give some credence to the gospel history.
As for Christianity itself. It didn't really steal from other religions, instead it adapted and incorporated into them. All Saints Day, Day of the Dead, Dia de los Muertos, the are all the same today, but originally, were separate holidays celebrated on separate days. The early monks and missionaries combined them in a way that made Christianity appeal to the natives without depriving them of their traditions. The same for Easter, they didn't steal the bunny and eggs, they just added one holiday to another already celebrated.
I take a neutral point on all religious views but at least keep your facts straight!!
