Books, manga, music, TV shows, etc. I want to know because I need new entertainment lol Also, what kinds of music do some of you meditate to? I've meditated to Ginko Garden's 'A Mystic Day in Mandalay' often.

I personally do seek out any music to "meditate to" but occasionally I do go into a sort of meditative state while I'm listening to IDM or trance by BT, The Flashbulb, Tycho or Boards of Canada, and some others.
I like almost any type of genre of music except death/grunge metal, country, or gangsta rap. Mostly I focus on metal, various electronica, piano types, and other foreign music. Too many to list here.
I hardly watch much tv anymore. I sometimes watch house, dirty jobs, some documentaries, or older cartoons like Rugrats, Courage the cowardly dog, or Robot chicken. I do like a ton of anime though. FMA, higurashi no naku koro ni, Serial Experiments Lain, Elfen Lied, The Girl Who Lept Through Time, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Paprika, and Princess Mononoke. Studio Ghibli films ftw. xP
I've only really read one type of manga: Great Teacher Onizuka; but I like a lot of fiction and dystopian fiction books like Brave New World, 1984, The Last Book In The Universe, and The Giver/Gathering Blue/Messenger. Most of the fiction books I like usually include a hero's journey such as Siddhartha, The Alchemist, Veronica Decides to Die, Eleven Minutes, and Water For Elephants. I also really enjoyed the harry Potter series, and the book When You're Engulfed In Flames. 3nodding
I can't focus too well on most nonfiction books for a long period of time, so I usually stick to online resources for religious info.
I'm all over the place when it comes to media.

I can't meditate to music or anything that makes noise, I'm purely a samatha/'meditation on the breath' kinda gal.
For tv, it's usually History channel. Though I freakin' love Jeopardy, Antiques Roadshow, and House. whee
Music, I've got my main groups I enjoy: Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Hole, Bif Naked, U2, and White Stripes.
And I am in love with fantasy fiction. J.R.R Tolkien and J.K. Rowling are my favs. But, I also love nonfiction (mostly religious texts). Right now I'm really happy that I bought a book entitled, "In The Buddha's Words: An Anthology of Discourses from the Pali Canon"

I'm all over the place when it comes to media. OMG, I love you 8D *shot* lol we have a lot in common. Trance is so relaxing, before I discovered 106.7, I would listen to 93.3's Electronica hour ever Thursday and Friday evening. Nothing like it, unless it is ambience, like water, animals, etc. xP

I read far too many philosophy books and depending on the language that a particular work was written in, I'll often get different translations just so I can get a better idea of what any given text may or may not actually say. (Sometimes if you really want to get into the grit of the message being conveyed, you've got to understand that you're reading more the translator's point of view than anything.) I used to read a lot of fantasy, but for some reason I just can't get into fiction right now.
Let's see I don't watch TV except for the occasional movie with my husband or one of the 'Life' documentaries and 'Planet Earth'.
As far as music goes my profile explains all. I'm starting to like instrumentals from soundtracks more than anything else. Generally though you can include classic rock, 90s alternative, grunge, the occasional R&B, and a little bit of everything else.
Let it be known though I have a weakness for Ninja Turtle comics. I love me my turtles, used to take place in quite a few turtle RPs. Also, WoW.

Ooh, you should definitely read some Tolkien at least once in your life. he's like my fantasy-god! haha. "The Hobbit" is a good start, since it's short compared to his Lord of the Rings epic. And...they're supposed to make The Hobbit into a movie next year. Wooh. (haha...fan girl excitment going on here, if you hadn't noticed). And, hopefully your library has more Buddhist resources than mine. Though, living in farmtown, Ohio, I guess that's to be expected. haha. (I don't even think most folks here know what Buddhism is).

I can't meditate to music either... I've tried a couple times... and it has sort of worked... then failed. XD
I don't watch much TV, but what I watch is mostly Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Who, Star Trek, Nova, and Cosmos... yeah, I'm a real dork. XP
Music... Ah... my favorite bands are Matchbox Twenty, Seether, Rob Thomas, The Beatles, Loreena McKennitt, Enya, Breaking Benjamin... and many others. X3
I love Full Metal Alchemist! I also like Pandora Hearts, Wish, Tsubasa Chronicles, Rurouni Kenshin, and Inu Yasha... with some others... but those are the ones I'm working on currently. XD
