I have gone and done the unthinkable. I became involved in real life with someone off the web. redface
We met, we talked and talked. We went from here to other sights, then to the phone and to skyping. We were even planning on meeting, had our days planned and scheduled....till hopping from profile to profile....I found him in a relationship with another. eek It's not the first time I saw something, the other times he had a believable explanation. Now I know it's all lies. crying I am so stupid. Beware of others on the internet, not saying all are bad, I have heard good stories. Just a warning from someone old enough to know better and didn't.
I'm taking a break for a while. Good bye my guild mates.

The best advice I could ever give to anyone in this sort of situation is to make Real Life and Online two seperate worlds. If real life bleeds over into the Online, that's not so bad, but still I recommend avoidance. Online bleeding over to Real Life usually ends in excessive drama.
It's like having two sets of friends, who know nothing about the others. There's the group that thinks your cool for jamming guitar, and then there's the group that thinks your cool for playing Dungeons and Dragons. And under most circumstances, never shall they meet each other. This is to the benefit of all involved.
Best of luck to you Lilith.

Having originally met my spouse online, I'm not one to say that you can't ever trust anyone online and should never get involved. However, it is definitely a good idea to be cautious about it as there are those that don't take online relationships very seriously, even if you are taking it seriously and they act like they're taking it seriously. There are also those who will keep up an online facade for as long as they think they can get away with it... which can be quite a long time depending on the kinds of interactions you have with them and the type of facade they're maintaining.
But heartbreak happens no matter how careful you think you're being. Just keep in mind that this type of thing is not exclusive to online. It can happen in real life just as much. Believing you can escape from getting hurt again by avoiding the place{s} online that you often went does not actually solve anything. It's just running away.

I don't know you well but, I feel your pain... I know what that's like, I did something similar. One time I had a stalker who wouldn't quit until he was arrested, one relationship fell apart because of the distance, the last one i was in, we met over facebook and I sacrificed something I can't get back and he cheated... If you need someone to talk to don't hesitate to message me. We're all here for you, I'll help any way I can. I'm so sorry that happened...
Sometimes good things are a result of a net relationship but it's also easier to lie over the internet in my opinion but the same happens in real life.
I wish you the best and all the happiness the world has to offer you. heart
Do take care and always remember, try to be strong, show you are better than that person and they win't win...
