PROMPT #2: Describe your first Harvest Festival.5th night of the harvest moon- moon riseIt’s almost time for the harvest festival. Everyone is excited! I’m excited too. I’ve only heard about these things from others in the pack, so this will be my first time going.
I was too excited to eat this evening, and now everyone told me to go to bed. I’m just too excited! I can’t sleep!
6th day of the harvest moon- sunriseI almost overslept! Everyone is getting ready to leave, and I’m ready to go! Everyone is ready. Oops, they’re waiting on me!
NoonIT’S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I’VE EVER SEEN! We got to the valley not too long ago, and and and… I’ve never seen anything like it! The fields are so colorful! The corn stalks are heavy and bent with ears and the pumpkins are HUGE! They’re huger than I am! The pack said we should eat first, and I just finished. There was some fish stuff and lots of veggies. Everything was so good and fresh! Much better than the food stores we have back in the den. Oh! There are other pups too! We decided to go to the corn maze together. I didn’t know there were so many other trasts and packs. It’s like a big party and the whole world is here!
Near sunsetWhaaa! The corn maze is so hard! They gave all of us this really smelly thing so we couldn’t sniff our way through, and let us loose in the maze. It was fun at first. We were squealing and playing through the golden stalks while we tried to get to the other exit. I got kind of turned around and ended up back at the entrance once.
But then, when I went back in, I got lost. I kept running into dead ends. It was so frustrating! After several hours and dead ends I just sat down and cried. Someone heard my howling and came and got me. I was 3 turns away from the exit, and was the last one in the maze. But I was given a small radish to stop my crying. It was yummy.
biggrin Someone said someone from the Natura pack won. That’s really neat!
DarkThe sun’s been down now for a while. The pumpkin races just finished, and it was so silly! Watching everyone pushing the pumpkins with their noses over the grass, through the wheat shaft, through a shallow pond. Everyone was tripping over each other and their pumpkins. Someone stepped on theirs. They couldn’t play anymore, so they ate the pumpkin. I heard that the winner was an Erratus.
After the race was over, there was a sweet potato eating contest! The pups I had gone to the corn maze with were there too. We got to compete against each other. I ate the most! Do you know what I won? Another sweet potato. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I kind of feel full. A boy from Animus said I cheated. I didn’t!
After I felt better, I shared my sweet potato with another girl from Natura. She hadn’t gotten to play in the eating game, and was really happy that I shared. I felt good.
MoonriseDinner is being made, but ugh, I’m so full of sweet potatoes… I think I’m going to lay down a while. A lot of other pups are feeling the same. They invited me to join them. Even the Animus boy. He said he was sorry.
MoonsetWe all slept through dinner it seems. A couple Erratus grownups came and woke us up so we could see the bonfire. Did you know we danced! Some of the older trasts from the packs were sitting around hallowed logs, and others had dried peppers and squash they were shaking. It was … it was magical! They played music while others danced. My new friends and I tried singing, but none of us knew what we were singing, so it was just noisy noise about the harvest. A pair from Lacertosus were singing about the colors of the harvest.
red moon of the harvest lights the orange pumpkins. Dance around the golden corn… Ok, I don’t really remember it. But it was really pretty. I hope I can learn the songs for next year.
SunriseThe bonfire is now just ashes and embers, and everyone has begun to go home. I watched my new friends find their packs and start heading back to their dens. It was kind of sad. I really liked these pups. But but but! We’ll be back next year! We promised. Next year we’ll all be bigger, and we can play longer. I can’t wait.
Oh, my pack is leaving now. I guess it really is time to go. I’m already looking forward to next year.
