Character Name: Talisan
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft/Rank: Fishercraft/Apprentice
History: Talisan is the second of four children born to his parents. He was born in a typical fishing village to parents who both knew how to sail the seas. His mother was landbound after badly injuring her leg, his father still works on the seas. He has one older sister, aged twenty, married to a sailor. Two younger siblings, aged thirteen and nine, male and female respectively.
Talisan was born before his Mother's injury, and spent several years in the general creche of the town until he was five. His mother, now unable to sail and hard pressed to walk fast, spent her days with her children under her watchful eyes, doing whatever work she could help with. She treated her children much like she would young sailors, and they were expected to respond promptly and with respect.
As soon as he was able to be taken from his mother, he gladly jumped on any excuse to get away from her watchful eye. He took to the seas as soon as he was allowed. Already well trained from his demanding mother, he was found to be an obedient young man who took to the craft quickly.
It was with some regret that he accepted the summons of Search. Trading something that he was good at for something he might not be so good at? It was frightening, but he wasn't about to deny the Weyr their right!
Description:
Talisan is of a medium height and a thin build. His skin tans easily with a tendency to freckle heavily. His shoulders are very heavily covered in freckles, his arms and chest and face are lightly covered with them. He has brown hair bleached a lighter shade by the sun and wide set narrow blue eyes.
His features are androgynous and youthful; he looks younger than his given turns. Either he'll hit a growth spurt and fill out, or the poor boy is doomed to be small and youthful forever.
Personality:
Talisan is a biddable young man who takes orders easily from his superiors and knows well the line between work and play. While he's in the mindset of work his behavior is serious and reserved. He's respectful and hardworking. There is no room for horseplay; the consequences of such actions can be dire.
But when work is done, the boy behind the serious face is let out to play. Talisan seems to have limitless energy and is never as happy as when he's running around or exploring. He has a knack for squeezing into small places due to his size, which is bound to irritate a lot of people.
With him, everything needs to be fast. His speech is fast, his pace is fast, everything that's slow is boring! He has little to no patience for things that take up time in his personal life. Life is far too short to spend it waiting on little things! He has to constantly be doing something, anything, or he'll simply die of boredom! His constant buzzing about can be either an annoyance or a great help to those nearby; either he'll be constantly bothering you, or you'll be able to rope him into helping you.
Talisan has never met a stranger. He seems to think that everyone he meets will be his friend eventually, so why bother being a stranger? This leads to many instances of too much information being spread about to those who'd rather not hear about the time that he had a cut on his finger that ripped down so far you could nearly see bone, and -
He's very easygoing. It's hard to rile him; one would need to insult his family or his craft to really get him annoyed. He just can't seem to hold a grudge. What's worse is that he can't understand grudges. While his companions may be annoyed from an insult from a foreign Weyr, Talisan won't really understand why they're so mad. Insults and anger really don't stick to him.
Other: Last minute apprentice is last minute.
