Hey, everyone! Who is your favorite deep thinker, philosopher or genius from history?

I am very tempted to pick Galileo Galilei for his excellent use of the scientific method to determine what the Earth's place in the universe is. Nowadays we all take for granted that the Earth goes around the Sun and not the other way around, but back in Galileo's time this idea was considered heresy. A real scientist seeks out the truth even if the truth is unpopular.

But really if I had to pick one historical deep thinker as my favorite it would be Bruce Lee. Most people will remember Bruce Lee as a martial artist, but it was really his philosophy and his approach to martial arts that made him stand out. He was a scholar and an athlete and he was always searching for ways to improve himself. Most martial artists train in one style and argue over which style is the best (ie Chinese Kung Fu or Japanese Karate) but Bruce Lee's approach was that it doesn't matter where it comes from, if it helps you defend yourself in a fight you should use it. Here are a couple of quotes from the man himself:

"Emptiness the starting point. — In order to taste my cup of water you must first empty your cup. My friend, drop all your preconceived and fixed ideas and be neutral. Do you know why this cup is useful? Because it is empty."

"Use only that which works, and take it from any place you can find it."

"The meaning of life is that it is to be lived, and it is not to be traded and conceptualized and squeezed into a pattern of systems."

So, who's your favorite deep thinker?
