(FUUUUUUUUUUU SOO SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

"Some may, but I like women to act like themselves, actually I prefer that everyone I interact with do that, but I'm getting off track eh?" He said with a slight chuckle, hearing her turn down the alcohol he nodded in agreement. "I suppose you got me there, we shouldn't start drinking so early in the day...especially since I just woke up a bit ago." He said with a mildly sheepish tone, putting the containers back to their places he then reached into a fridge that was under the bar and pulled out a container of juice. "How about some of this?" He asked brightly, placing two glasses on the counter and pouring some of the juice into both of the glasses, pushing one to the woman while taking a small swig of his own.

Hearing her congratulations to him he felt his skin flush slightly, quickly bolting down the rest of the juice to cover this. Breathing in sharply after finishing the drink he poured some more into the glass and walked over to her, taking a seat nearby. "Thanks a lot for the congrats, it's been a bit odd actually, my captain isn't one of the most....coherent of men sometimes so I end up doing guesswork a lot of the time." he said with a grin of his own, he knew she had an idea of what he had to put up with so he didn't want to bore her with a long tale of such trivial matters that he had to deal with. "Anyway, it is great to see you again, really. But what brought ya here aside from wishing me well about the promotion?" he asked with a warm smile.

((Sorry, it’s crap, but I felt the intense need to post XD ))

Hirimi started to grin a little, flattered by his comment. “Well, that’s good to know!” The funny thing was though…. She had been acting like herself there, or… Her natural self. It’d taken quite a bit of discipline to get herself to open up the way she did now. And it seemed like fewer and fewer people realized that…

“You didn’t hurt yourself when you fell, did you?” Suddenly she was concerned. If he had hurt himself all because she’d come to visit… Well that didn’t sit well with her. At all. His change of subject though brightened her mood once again. “Sure!” When it was offered, she didn’t even hesitate to take it, accepting the glass instantly.

Unlike him, she didn’t gulp down the entire contents of her own beverage in a matter of seconds. “You’re going to make yourself sick if you do that, you know.” She just smiled at his silliness. Ah, how she’d missed the oddities that were her friends. “Really? Anyone I know?” That smile turned to a grin then. She doubted she knew his Captain, but it didn’t hurt to ask. “I think that’s a required trait to be a Captain. Mine was the same.” She felt nostalgic, thinking about those days…

She chuckled at his question, taking a sip of her drink before even considering answering his question. After a few moments though, she spoke. “I wanted to catch up. Things are so different now, and so many people are gone, you could say I jumped at the chance to have a conversation with someone I’d known before. Even more so when you, accident prone Zaine, have made a name for yourself in my absence.” She was grinning. When she’d been in fourth, he was one of the most frequent…. Visitors they had.

((Lol got promoted to Captain))

Zaine began to laugh loudly at the inquiry to his well being. "C'mon you've seen me suffer from far worse than a spill from bed and come out of it swinging, no need to worry about me at all!" he said brightly, grabbing his bicep in a vigorous manner, then immediately letting out a breath when she commented about him getting ill from drinking too fast. "I'm not that weak ya know, nothing like a bit of juice will take me down." he said sheepishly, suddenly his words were interrupted by a loud hiccup that made him blink rapidly and blush. "Pardon me, I stand corrected.." he said dryly, "My captain is Tezuka, he was the past Lieutenant for squad 1 and may have been in the infirmary often also back in the day." he commented helpfully, ignoring the jab at him being a frequent visitor of the Fourth Division, "Well sorry that I couldn't avoid trouble that found me all the time, but at least I got to see you a lot eh?" he said warmly.

((I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry it took so long.... I completely forgot about the thread until now! D smile )

"Hm......" Hirimi looked deep in thought. "That's true. Old habits die hard, I guess." She was far to used to asking people if they were alright, how they were injured, if they needed medical treatment....

She was laughing at his display, and announcement of invulnerability.... and laughed even harder when he hiccuped, completely ruining his act. "I warned you." When she finally managed to stop laughing, she took a sip from her own drink, only she was determined not to get the hiccups!

Tezuka..... She was deep in thought once more, trying to put a name to the face. Finally she sighed a shrugged. "Name doesn't ring a bell. Maybe he was always there when I was off duty."

Suddenly she blinked, looking at Zaine.... And smiling. "Well, you kept things interesting, that's for sure. Never a dull moment when you're around."

There was a distinct lack of interest emanating from Kuuya as she made her way into the office, not from the lack of a visible expression, but as her masked face turned about to gaze at the walls of neatly bound books she made no indication that the sight stirred anything within her. With cautious foot falls, Kuuya rounded the desk at the back of office, finding no trace of the Captain there besides clutter, she continued to prowl. Hidden lavender eyes sought out the immaculate titles of court records then descended to what a low lying table held. Not much of a clean freak now is he? Commented a shrill voice within her mind, soon followed by the quiet rustling of wings. Kite, as she called the spirit was never one for a mess and he made it most obvious whenever his nerve was struck on the issue. Surveying what appeared to be a three day old ramen cup; half filled with noodles and lost in papers made her nod solemnly.

“Most definitely,” she returned absently, nothing more then a whisper muffled by her mask. Tilting her head to the side, Kuuya dropped onto a couch, shoving aside a pillow and dog eared book and proceeded to stare at the ceiling. The slow turning of the fan soon lulled her into a mild stupor while the squawk and chatter of her inner spirits kept her company.

Suddenly a previously unnoticed lump in the covers began to move, slowly at first but then with a short shout the bedding shot up into the air and a tired looking, stubble faced Zaine looked around the room bleary eyed. Standing up and stretching mightily the captain stumbled his way to the rest room to take care of business and get himself washed up. Filling his sink with ice cold water the captain looked in the mirror and with only a moment to prepare himself he dunked his head into the freezing liquid, forcing his entire nerve system to snap to attention and wake him up. Lifting his soaked face from the sink he reached blindly for a towel until he found one and brought it to his face, starting to dry his hair and walking out of the bathroom.

It was at this exact moment that the captain realized he wasn't alone in his office, looking at the masked woman sitting on his couch with a surprised and inquisitive expression. "Erm, hello...who are you?" he inquired lightly, keeping his voice calm and friendly the captain walked back towards the fridge he kept and pulled out some apple cider he had managed to snag from the world of the living a few days ago, the captain had somewhat of an addiction to the drink and while it was possible to produce in The Seireitei he preferred the real thing that the humans produced. "Care for a drink? Just ask, I probably have it here in one form or another." he said, gesturing to the walls of various beverages and other such items he had collected over the years. Pouring his first glass of cider the captain waited on the woman's response politely.

The innocuous appearance of a stubbly faced Captain barely received a blink from the silent woman, not did his sporadically placed questions. Kuuya’s hidden eyes remained on a spot near the far corner of the ceiling, a war of introspective ideology currently keeping her rooted. Expected to join a squad, she had little faith in any Captain nor anyone beyond the handful of Academy teachers that had spent a majority of the past few years trying to divine her thoughts and intentions. She’d been called mad, delusional…unfit for society. Really, she’d just ignored anything she felt trivial, and that happened to be most to the drivel that others spouted. Still, she had made a promise, and if anything, she was true to her word.

Slowly, her masked face turned to Zaine, the movement slow and deliberate while she stood up with equally sluggish motion. A subtle bow inclined her head while her hands came to rest on either side of her mask. Kuuya paused then, her uncertainty towards what she was about to do momentarily overriding her loyal nature. Determination taking over, the mask slipped smoothly away from her face, pulling the overabundance of milky white hair with it.

Bored lavender hued eyes turned to meet the flecked set of the Captain’s, her dark red lashes kissing her cheeks, once…twice with her unwavering stare. Rare few had seen beneath her mask, but Kuuya was undoubtedly stunning in the soft curve of her face and undeniable set of her perfectly proportioned features. That quiet beauty only took on a brighter cast with the addition of a fiery spray of fringed bangs that framed her. “Ibaraki Kuuya,” she stated blandly, voice a low pitched thrum in the near silent office. “My teachers bid me join your Division, where that leads is up to you.” In conclusion, she shifted her grip on her mask, holding the red lacquered wood to her ample chest and itching to replace the covering on her bared face.

Glancing at the woman over his glass the captain suddenly felt his face go a bit red and choked on the drink, luckily this helped cover the momentary look of embarrassment he had let slip when confronted with the beauty of the woman before him. Coughing to clear his throat he looked back to the no longer masked Kuuya and nodded, "I see, so you are the new member after all. I had stayed up late last night finishing your paper work, hence this." He said, gesturing to his scruffy appearance. "And the fact that I was sleeping when you arrived, I apologize for that as well, didn't expect ya that early." he commented sheepishly, "Anyway welcome to the Ninth Division! Is there anything you'd like to know?" he inquired warmly, noting her grip on the mask, along with her uncomfortable body language he smiled kindly. "Go ahead and put that back on if you wish, I don't mind really, by the way I'm Zaine Tsukioma the captain of this squad. However I'd rather you just call me by my first name." He said in a matter of fact tone, quaffing the rest of the cider and then pouring himself another helping. "Are you sure there's nothing I can get you?" He asked once more, after all it couldn't hurt to make sure.

Kuuya’s head shook once in the negative, then again when asked if she’d like anything. Really, once the option to return her covering to her face, she took it. With care the wooden mask swathed her face and the white backing hid the fiery play of her pinned hair. Releasing a contented sigh, the tightness in her shoulders abated. “No,” Kuuya finally supplied, the sound muffled and touched with an echo of the wood. She sounded unusually masculine, something that always tended to confuse anyone fortunate enough to hear her speak. Lowering her hands, the left drifted to the two blades at her waist, one a slightly over long katana and the other a matching wakizashi. The katana barely reacted, but as soon as her fingers brushed the tsuba of the wakizashi, the chattering voices of Kotengu filled her head.

Kite scolded her on how her hair would be in disarray, like always. Shrike grumbled to himself, the sound of ruffling feathers the only indication that he disliked Zaine. Kestrel just laughed heartily before quieting. Kuuya couldn’t help but smile beneath her mask, the little Kotengu a welcome relief against the stress of leaving her home at the Academy. Lifting hidden eyes to the Captain, she came forward, removing the navy wrapped wakizashi from her side in on swift motion to hold it securely on up raised palms. Once close enough, she thrust the blade at Zaine, continuing to push it towards his chest in an effort to get him to place his hands on the saya.

Unique to Kuuya’s suppose spirits, they could commune with others besides her so long as they were in contact with either one of her sealed swords. Considering her aversion to speaking, learning of that fact had reduced her need to issue a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ more and more.
