Gross?
  Actually, it's kind of cool.
  Definitely!
At least it wasn't human beings.

I knew that in my Natural Science class (Human Anatomy) that we were going to be looking at cat cadavers at some point. What I was not expecting, however, was that it would be the first day of the new semester. @_@ I would have mentally prepared myself a bit better if I'd known.

See, I am a big time cat person. To add insult to injury, the cadaver on my desk was a little black cat. My pet cat is a little black cat named Midnight. It made the class difficult....though I think my seat partner who ate right before coming to class (he also was not expecting the cadavers) had a harder time than I did. XD

I've had to disect 2 cats during my time at school. The first cat I had looked like the one I had at home. So I raised my hand immediately and demanded (pretty much) to switch cats and take a new one. My lab partner didn't care, but she understood why I wanted to change. The teacher understood too, and gave us a new cat straightaway. So nice of him.

Cats? Piglets!?

AAAH!

We had to do these big ugly worms. And frogs and piglets too. Those weren't too bad, but I'm not sure how well I'd do with a cat. I would probably freak out if it looked like mine. stressed

Cats, Frogs, Ah! We did a Lamb!

I did frogs, worms, a shark's head, and a fetal piglet. Yuck. You couldn't pay me enough to do it again.

However, in college, I actually stuck my entire arm into a live cow's stomach. That was veterinary school. Talk about weird. But at least the cow wasn't dead.

The only thing I've got to disect is a cow/sheep eyeball. stare
I was hoping for a human eyeball....

It was a first year university course. ^^ I'm a psychology major, and one of the requirements was having a natural science course.

The parts of the class where we were studying the skeleton was a lot easier to deal with.

We dissected a cane toad once. It was awesome - thought the toad was dead, the heart was still beating, and it was a whole lot less messy than I thought it would be.

I love dissecting things.. But I would not be able to handle a kitty cat. I love them! I'm also allergic.. o.o

In seventh grade, we did worms, frogs, and squids. In tenth grade, we've done clams and we're still going to do fetal pigs and something else I forgot.

Heh... I forgot to mention before. In the Physical Therapy program at my college, the 3rd year students have to disect humans. Most have died of things like COPD or heart failure or things like that. They're all around 80-90 years old too, and they wanted their bodies donated to science. So it's all legit.

As an Occupational Therapy major, I didn't have to do any of the disection but I had to go down to the lab (which is a large smelly room in the basement) with my class and look at certain muscles and joints. I'm so glad I didn't have to cut up any people. But once I'm looking inside the body and can't see the person's face, it isn't so so bad.

Disclaimer: I am not a fan of disecting people. It was just a learning experience. Nobody in my class got sick or passed out or anything. Don't hate me because I've seen a cut-up dead person.

It's weird, but I really hate dissecting preserved specimens. They smell bad and are nasty. But I am not the least grossed out by watching operations, blood doesn't freak me out, etc.
