Her efforts were noted with a chuckle, although not at Eden in particular. Illidad preferred to do the work over having someone else offer, it gave him purpose and needed distractions from all the silence that went on in his head. Even in situations that proved to harm him more then to help, did Illidad find himself doing over-time.
At times he wondered if his parents would be proud, when it was that he thought of them at all, and more so then them he wondered if Marcy would agree. It was a sad trait to have, but there seemed to be a lot of sad traits within the gene pool.
"Not true, Eden, I-I like your h-hole. Plus I liked d-digging so it's ok." He said, eyes lit up by her compliment. But their work was not done, and as Eden gave her final command so did Illidad begin the routine all over again. For him, thoughts came and went, actions were a thing of the moment and as soon as they were finished, so went the thought of them. However, Eden was fixed in his brain like a song and he figured she would be even after they parted ways. Eagerly the male picked the seeds up off the floor and walked them over to random holes, dropping them and then returning for more. Occasionally he would stop and look to the female, smile and then continue...He wanted to make sure he was still going to be there when he glanced away for even a second.

A curious, curious individual indeed. Picking back her humming, Eden followed her own order and began nudging seeds to their appropriate holes, careful and precise in making sure they were dead-center within each. Over some she crooned, admiring the smooth shape and trying her best not to get them covered with dirt before they actually had to be covered with dirt. For all intents and purposes they were her children, The Gardener's seeds, and deserved only the best from her. After all, she would soon have to let them go . . . and a pang of sadness ran through her heart as she realized that she couldn't always be with the little growing seeds.
Still, Eden kept her smile up as she began gently patting down the mounds of dirt back into the holes from whence they came. "There there, little ones," she murmur, "soft dirt to keep you snug and out of the sun until you're ready, water nearby it you thirst, and a mother's love." She pressed her snout down at the center of each covered seed . . . sneezing every few times that dirt got into her nose. "Grow tall!" She looked over to watch Ilidad's progress with a warm smile. "Thank you so much for the help, Ili, I probably would have taken the afternoon if I was alone." More from her doting on every little soul than anything else. "I must repay you somehow. Would you like to come home with me for some lunch?"

Illidad had stopped short of his role to watch Eden, ears poised above his head to catch all that would be said. At first the act confused him, that wide face Illi bore tilting to the point of absurdity before switching sides as she began a new sentence. Then, and even after he settled on his own conclusions, Illidad could not comprehend the why. Yet, as it was with the poor boy, in the end it didn't even matter. Despite how lovely the words were, and the ache that surged when her eyes did not pass over him with the slightest hint of that same tenderness, Illidad's mind was moving on and moving fast.
Payment was gratitude, in a form Illidad had very little experience with. He began his response with a tail wag, a gentle sway that would hardly pass for a gesture HE could offer and then, with peppy bark he said, "W-Where does E-Eden live?" Not that he was worried about being kidnapped or killed--he didn't even worry about his own sister not being able to locate him in the end, would he venture off with Eden to some far away land. Really, there was no concern on his face nor in the way his body wormed about on all fours...It just seemed right to ask.

"I don't live very far from here. My family doesn't move a lot, we just tend to go where is safest," Eden explained, trotting up to him after she had cleaned her legs of excess dirt. "I think my father's been looking into a pack for us all to live in, but I like to wander too much you see . . . But right now we're by a river that has a lot of fish this season." Oh, it reminded her of their first fishing trip together as a family! If only they all weren't beginning to drift apart now as adults . . . "D'you like fish? If not, I'm sure we can find something on the way over~"
She began to trot forward, flagging her tail to alert him to follow as she went at a slow walk. Truth be told, the work had actually made her tired, dainty thing that Eden was. It embarassed her that such a simple task like planting seeds made her pant, and she hoped that Illidad wouldn't notice. But perhaps company would do her parents some good, or for herself if nothing else should they not be present. It had been so long since she had activated her little muse . . . It was wonderful to be someone else for a change!

He chose not to respond other then by hopping and sprinting over to Eden’s side. Safety was a word Illidad had come across plenty of times; Keep safe, be safe, that isn't safe...Like Eden, he too tended to move where the scenery seemed peaceful and the creatures nonthreatening. Not often was it possible, but he was still alive and that had to mean something…he assumed.
And certainly he felt safe beside the dark female! His limbs stretched so far as to keep pace with Eden’s, snout facing in front of him while his eyes wandered over to her face. "I-I love fish!" He finally said, voice echoing as they left the seeds behind, his heavy pants becoming faint with the distance.
In truth, Illidad did not favor meals from rivers, but he would suck it up for this girl…if only for just one night.
