Summary: In the land of Cyrsero, thieves and prostitutes are common. Evander, a theif, wishies to escape from all this and runs away, where he meets a king from another land. Not knowing he is royalty, Evander challenges him to a duel and wins. It is later found out that the king knew he was to die and though childless, set an heir-his murderer. A short story, by the way.

This is just the beginning of the story and what I have so far. ^_^

That of delusion and reality,
To pressingly approach, that of despair,
Pessimiste of the dominion,
Satirical theatrical of pretense

"Pessimiste," by Moi Dix Mois

The cobbled roads of Cyrsero seemed to lead to nowhere, or at least to Evander it did. Cyrsero itself led to nowhere; nothing was interesting, nothing was new or good or well. The population consisted of mainly whores, thieves (such as Evander himself) and half-senile old men who claimed to be wizards. It didn't help that there wasn't magic in Cyrsero at all, unlike the other countries that were well-known to flaunt their sorcery.

But did it matter now? He still followed the raods.

With his hands stuffed in his coat pockets, Evander continued to follow the rock-crafted paths. His head tilted to the left so as to hear that side a lot better. The right side of the paths were always vile to see. Children were weeping, women were being raped and men were growing aroused from the victim's loud shrieks of tortured agony. Animals were half-starved and young boys ran off with stolen money. Girls as young as eight or nine, perhaps younger, limped home from selling their bodies to random strangers off the street. They were satisfied with the meager handful of coins that they earned in exchange. Evander shook his head. Pathetic.

Not that he was any better, of course.

At least on the left side of the paths, things were just a bit better. Elderly women eyed Evander warily as he strolled past them. Those that were younger and fairer of face, squeaked in terror and ran inside to the safety of their houses. Evander shrugged, indifferent to the rumors that apparently protrayed him in such a negative light. Yet, it was merely a rumor and opinions didn't matter to him. At any rate, he had never been close to the villagers to even think about running off with their women. He kicked at a stone and stopped for a minute, listening to the silence that seemed to reign before moving on.
