He's basically doing it to have his name remembered for the person who initiated it.
Also, he prolly wanted the island to keep some of it's identity with the military buildup restricting some sacred land and threatening the culture.
It has to go to senate first, some are for it and some are against it.
I, for one, am against this. I mean i understand they want to go back to the roots cause Guahan was the original name before the US came and the first governor changed the name to guam.
But i mean, there are so many problems in the island already that needed to be addressed in his State of the Island Address that he barely touched on. I mean a name change won't help the economy or bring in the dough.
And another big one is telling people where the hell Guam is. It's bad enough that its kinda hard pinpointing where Guam is, but if they change the name, we gotta get people to learn that we had a name change and remind them where guam is. stressed
