I have a religious story in mind, following Satan. Essentially, Satan comes down to earth after studying it for a few centuries. his goal is to fabricate a diploma and get a job on wall street, move to the top of the corporate structure and take over the world through lobbying, warmongering and ******** with the economy. Essentially, the goal of every CEO on wall street, amirite?
However, during this, he gets caught up in alcohol and drugs and other pleasures of the flesh he missed in Hell. Long story short, he tumbles downward to a life of mediocrity and ends up a lower-middle class junkie sitting on the couch watching TV and shooting up, wasting time, unable to move further up- Essentially, the great deceiver and evil of the earth is destroyed by something even more sinister- Humanity itself.
Of course, that's an ultra-rough synopsis of my idea, I hope to make it a novel. Ideas on the concept?

Did you ever read I, Lucifer?
It sounds a bit similar.

I like the idea, but I'm not sure I'd read it (It'd probably make me unconfortable religiously). It's not the way I think things would really go, but it's an intresting concept.

It sounds like a really cool concept. How do you plan on ending it, if you don't mind me asking? Does he die? XD Can he die?

Two ways- He either gets stuck there forever, useless and jaded, or gets "saved" by demons and returns to hell, cursing humans for posessing wickedness that surpasses even his own.

4shi While this has been done before, I like both endings. I figured it may have been done before, but I hadn't expected it to be done with Satan actually failing and ending up some bum. Where has it been done?

Very interesting story. I like the first ending it seems to fit better with the whole motif besides, why would demons save him...you should make the whole going to earth thing the idea of one of Satan's top 'generals' who was trying to get rid of him. Or even better, make it a suggestion by God...

That reminds me of a series of youtube videos me and my friend were going to make involving satan... It was going to be a comedy (not meant to be offensive so if you are too easily offended by religious jokes ignore the rest of this post... I don't apoligize though, free speech and all that jazz...) in which Satan and Jesus are best friends.... One day satan sees this gorgeous girl and decides he wants to do her... she forces him to et married first and has her friend be the preacher. While the wedding contract thing is being signed her friend switches it with another document that states that he gives his title of Satan to the girl and has to be her slaave forever ect.... Well he is fooled and thus she becomes satan... shortly after you find out that she was really a demon that had a christian family (yeah thats right, a family of super religious christian demons) who didn't treat how she wanted because they were constantly trying to get her to worship God with them. That is why she vowed to become Satan ect... Then Jesus tries to help the original Satan, now only known as Lucifer, escape from his wife, Satan... not only that but she gets preggers but make Lucifer carry the baby....

Where has it been done? Someone mentioned I, Lucifer. Depending on how you want to look at The Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain is another one. I'll check my lit class books again to see what else I can pull up.

I looked at the synopsis and it seems similar in the fact that it is Satan living a modern human life. However, the difference is the motivation and twist- In I, Lucifer it seemed that God was offering Satan a chance to change and making a deal with him. In mine, Satan in being malicious and wants to mess with the humans from the inside. Also, Satan was not allowed to harm his body or, if I read it right, mess with the human world in a negative way.

That still leaves The Mysterious Stranger. I haven't had a chance to look through my lit books (I know there are others, I just can't remember all the titles right now) but I'll hopefully get to that today. Even though they're different to some degree, they still might give you an idea of how to do it, how not to do it, or even where to go.
