Just because I figured it was bound to come up at some point. Just to warn you, I am utterly confused on what he is offering, so it would be helpful if someone who knew what was going on with it would post.

Beautiful! I have just discovered that I am not the only one who doesn't exactly understand the healthcare debate.
What I know is this: We pay for healthcare in our taxes. Healthcare is issued through Medicare and Medicade, which helps old people pay their medical bills. Most beople believe that, when they get old, healthcare will no longer be around to support them or the rules will have changed to where it still won't support them. Thus, most people believe that the system they are paying for with their taxes will not benefit them. So, what else is new? XDD! At least that is what I have come to believe.
Personally, I don't mind either way. It doesn't worry me for a plethora of reasons.
General reasons why I am not worried about healthcare: 1. We pay for tons of things through the government that don't really benefit us. Who pays for Obama's $50,000 hair cut? That's right, we do! Woot! What about his $100,000 shoe shine? Guilty as charged! =D (do note that I am exaggerating here. At least I believe I am exaggerating . . .) 2. Does it really matter THAT much if we recieve benefit for our money? You're helping pay for your grandma's wheelchair. Isn't that nice enough? Quit complaining, United States of Complaint! D=
Personal reasons why I am not worried about healthcare: 1. To be blaintly honest, I don't think the world is going to last much longer. At a glance, I can tell that the rapture can come at any day now. I can't wait. C= 2. All of the work I do is community service. I work for free pretty much. I believe it's my duity to help others without recieving a paycheck. The only paying job I have ever had is a bit of tutoring this semester, which they don't pay me much for, but that doesn't matter to me either. You only pay taxes if you make a certain amount of money. Therefore, I don't pay taxes XDD! 3. I am not concerned about money. If I was concerned about money, I would get a decent paying job, and I would have plans on furthering my education beyond an MFA, which you only have to go to grad school for. An MFA allows you to teach creative writing at a college level; however, you don't get paid that much. Big deal! 4. I am a hardcore Christian. I thoroughly believe that God will support me. they can keep their lousy healthcare, I've got Godcare XDD! It's been working great for me so far!
And that's all I have to say about that. =o

by the way, medicare is for the old and medicade is for the poor. What I know is that the most expensive groups are covered (those that get sick most often) and that the idea is to bring in groups that are generally healthy so that the overall system will be cheaper.

O mai! *puts on a helmet* Hey, I didn't vote for him, but I've been supporting him as far as defending him from the people who don't know that it takes time to fix an economy. He cannot just snap his fingers. But that isn't about healthcare, so yeah.

@Only AMEN, HOMESKILLET!
but yeah, you've no idea how all these Sarah Palin groupies are runnin' around with sand in their vajays cuz of this proposed universal healthcare. I think it's just cuz they're racists. Like, im so sure they don't give a damn about healthcare.
Doesn't it work well in most countries it is implemented in? >.>;;

Yeah, like France, for example. They have to pay MASSIVE taxes! Like, nearly 40%. However, the benefits are worth it. The healthcare is awesome, they get all kids of insurrance, and the government seems to take care of pretty much everything else. America has pretty low taxes compared to the rest of the world, but our benefits are lousy. It's because we're stingy. "No, I don't want to pay extra money even though it might save my life!" Meanwhile, taxes are around 31% while the gov. spends 34%. Silly Americans LOLOL!

So my dad was telling me about healthcare recently. I tend to drown most of his speech out because he rambles, but I do remember one poignant fact. The most recent healthcare plan by Obama would require everyone to have healthcare and those that could not afford it or chose not to pay would be jailed. Unlike mandatory car insurance, in which only those with a car have to buy it, everyone would have to buy health insurance because everyone gets sick at one point.

Holy cow, that's terrible! It's like, "Hey, we're sending you to the big house because you're poor." I suppose it isn't all bad. I mean, they get free food and all. Still . . . *vomits*

yeah, it's like when poor people used to be jailed for having debt. Like, even to the point of separating families.
