A day in Noctis and Daichi's Life
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Daichi's eyes landed on the man in front of him. A sharp object stood next to the sleeping head, the blue tear-drop demon rolled over to push the object away with small mass of his body. Daichi had often observed that his contractor often slept at the strange location he always worked at. He left a pillow for Daichi to sleep..but where was Noctis's pillow?
Daichi could share. Much struggling was involved as the small demon attempted to move his pillow closer to Noctis by improved headbutting, often finding himself buried into the pillow than actually moving it. Daichi struggled to climb out of the soft material, the large pillow seemed like a valley of effort to him. The constant headbutts had the table shaking slightly, waking Noctis up a while later. One eye opened under his crooked glasses, an obviously tired and tuckered Daichi stood in front of him.
Why was Daichi so exhausted? Suddenly aware of Noctis's movement to lift his head up, Daichi inched back, shrinking back as he had done something wrong. At Noctis's inquisitive glance, Daichi seemed to muster the courage to speak up. "S.. S-- Share?" The demon seemed to have some slight difficulty in pronouncing the word loudly, looking up with his seemingly sad expression, which Noctis had come to recognize as a normal feature of the demon. A smile curved on Noctis's lips, gathering the timid demon in his hands.
"Thanks for the offer Daichi. But why share a pillow when we've got a bed?" He lifted the demon to put Daichi on his shoulder, an activity he often did because his hands weren't often free to hold the demon. Even now, he carried books to be put away before he slept.
Noctis honestly had to admit, he had been stuck with a good partner. Daichi didn't do anything that Noctis abhorred in his laboratory and that was the best part. He didn't break things, mess things up or interfere with Noctis's work in any way. In fact, he seemed content to familiarize himself with Noctis's methods and items, sometimes getting materials before Noctis could reach them himself. The only part Noctis could complain about was Daichi's quietness. Often times, Noctis forgot the imp was there until feeding time rolled around or he walked away, a whimper reminding him that Noctis wasn't alone. Sometimes, he rolled and slept in crevices, Noctis only found him hours later. But he was getting used to Daichi's sleeping habits.
Soon enough, they crawled into bed, or more specifically, Noctis crawled into bed from exhaustion. It had been another day of failed experiments but as an engineer, failure was nothing new. That didn't make him feel any better though. Perhaps if he changed the output a little more and touched up on the gears, order some new gears----
"Sleep." A sudden bite to Noctis's ear had him snapping out of thoughts that plagued him suddenly, his sensitive reaction nearly threw the imp off his shoulder. "I gotcha. Sleep. Gotcha, Daichi." Noctis chuckled, setting the imp down on the pilow beside him, pulling the covers over himself. Within moments, the room vanished into complete darkness, sounds of shuffling on the bed could be heard, Noctis's fingers rubbed lightly over Daichi's head.
