I'm not a big fan of prisons.
I don't understand how one who has committed a crime against society, killed someone, robbed a place, etc is supposed to get better when they have their life already set before them. In jail, you get three meals a day. Granite they may not be good sometimes, but you get fed. There are workout rooms, libraries, free 'cultural' events like concerts and speakers, televisions, radios, and more. How is that punishment for what they have done? Honestly, if I were given the choice, I would want to live in prison too. It could teach me to toughen up a bit and let out all my stress by getting yelled at and beaten up by some person who's already in there. Hell I'd just beat them up and yell at them right back. That sounds like it's the worst of it and it might not even happen.
If I had family, well obviously, there would be the punishment right there. I can't see the ones I love everyday, but they sure as hell can visit! It's sucking up government money. Seriously, even if you don't pay child support or you have a stupendous amount of tickets, you can go to jail. What the hell does that do but put them in even deeper debt when they can't work to pay the money back and are living for free in jail and being given all the necessities of life? I don't get it, so someone please explain to me what jail centers and prisons are supposed to do.
Answers I'll Get::
- Keeps the creeps and freaks off the streets.
- Society is safer.
- Rehabilitate criminals so they can be a part of society once again when their sentence is over.
Give me something different, because those don't work for me.
Oh! And If I get caught or fail at an attempted suicide, I can go to jail...what the ******** is that supposed to do for me? I don't understand why.
**True the center in the article is in a different country, but that's not the point.
