Shallow Seas Tips!

detective1598 Wrote:
In the third level of the shallow seas, where the lantern fish attack you on the narrow pass, elffromspace and I noticed something the other day.

If one person runs ahead of everyone else, the fish concentrate their attacks on that person....and seemingly ignore everyone else.

So go in a group (as you should almost always)
And make sure at least one person has defib.
(Preferably everyone in the group should have a defib ring.)
Let one person run way ahead of you.
Defib the person and repeat this process until you make it to the lab.

CAREFUL: on the screen with the grunnies, if you attack them they bring all the Fish!

Also on the screen with only one batch of robos, and on the last screen where the path is close to the fish, use of any Area attack will draw all of the fish!

Additionally, to take out the Queen easier, I suggest taking out one guard, and then the other before the queen. You can kill the guards quickly and it reduces the number of things attacking you!

Hiving Tips

The Hive, also known as the Star Portal, is an alien world where your crew will face wave after wave of progresively harder aliens until you're overwhelmed. Watch out, even the walls attack if you get too close! It is a mini-game of sorts since it will reward you with orbs if you make it through enough waves.

There are 3 badges to be gained by fighting in the hive:
Alien World Refugee (5 Waves?)
Alien World Survivor (20 Waves?)
Alien World Conqueror (50 Waves)

The hive scales itself to your crew's CL. You definitely MUST go in with a crew all at the same CL! Any Cl from 7 and up works well, but the hive will scale to your strongest member!

The hive also scales to crew size. The more people, the more monsters you get. The hive is actually easiest for a medium sized crew of 3-5 skilled players.

RINGS:
BUFFS BUFFS TEAM BUFFS - You will not make it far without having a good set of buff rings in your crew. You can have each player bring a few buffs, or may assign one person to being a dedicated buffer. This will help them attract less attention and get attacked less. If so, that person will not bring any attack rings, but only buff rings, healing rings and crowd control rings.

You'll definitely want to have: Divinity, Rock Armor (remember this doesn't work with turtle!) and or Improbability Sphere, and Adrenaline. It is also useful to have Iron Will, Coyote Spirit and Teflon.

CROWD CONTROL: Duct Tape or Scaredy Cat. These rings are invaluable for delaying the next round and also useful for fighting! They DO miss! Improve your odds by having full Ghi, and using Iron Will or Fitness. Do NOT bring both rings in the same crew. Using them both on the same monster causes issues! Also, do not attack any critter that you want to remain taped or asleep!

PERSONAL SHEILDS - If you have players who intend to get a lot of agro and do a lot of attacking, they should try to bring along Ghost, Meat and Turtle.

PLAY

Stay near the center. This will help you avoid the tentacle attacks from the walls and will make it easier to heal and buff each other!

Warn before casting Divinity so any players who've wandered a bit can come into range!

At the end of each wave, if you leave one critter alive and use Duct Tape or Scaredy Cat on it, then the next wave will not start till you kill it! This is a great way to heal and regain stamina! You should make sure to do this any time any member of the crew is at less than half health or stamina! Be sure to use this time to refresh any buffs that have worn off! Duct Tape and Scaredy Cat DO miss! You should reduce the missing by keeping a full Ghi, and using Iron Will and or Fitness. If the CC misses, have everyone heal the person the monster is attacking!
