About Tyler Name:: Tyler Moorcroft Nickname(s):: Ty. Date of Birth:: 14th November Age:: 13 Gender:: Male Nationality:: English Abilities:: Empathy Height:: 5ft3ins (conciderably more if you include the mohawk) Hair Color:: Teal and Indigo Hair Style:: Mohawk with short shaven sides. Eye Color:: Really dark blue, though they sometimes look a little more like dark grey Body type:: Slim and rather wiry
Distinguishing Marks:: His hair...? There are a couple of scars on his arms and legs from where he's taken falls and stumbles over the years, but nothing horrible. He also has a small birthmark on his right shoulder blade. It looks likes it's trying to be the shape of a playstation controller, so he likes it.
Clothing:: He likes baggy band T-shirts with logos and sometimes less than polite working on them. Though in all honesty any kind of t-shirt'll do as long as its in a darker shade. He'd rather not wear pale colours, and certainly nothing 'girly'. He likes to be comfortable, and isn't really one for fashion, so cut-offs, 3/4legnths, and shorts in general are fine with him if its hot, though he prefers trousers. Honestly, his favoured look is one that most adults deem, 'scruffy'. He does love his bright shoes though, the more obnoxious and garish, the better.
Accessories:: None. They'd probably clash with his shoes and hair <3
Personality::Loud and out going for the most part Tyler has the unfortunate habbit of being a little too happy to just speak his mind sometimes. On more than one occasion this has gotten him into some serious trouble. This tends to happen as it doesn't matter to him if his opinion is insulting or not, if you ask him for it, he'll tell you. He generally tries to be well behaved and not cause any trouble, but this doesn't always happen. He's honest to a fault for the most part, as he doesn't like to disappoint his seriously cool (in his opinion) parents.
If you can get past his highly blunt side and just take what he says without letting it get to you he can be a pretty fun guy. He's always up for trying to make life more interesting, and with people like bullies he's always had a highly no nonsense attitude. He won't let people who only want to be mean for the sake of it get to him, and with his gift he can sometimes read their intentions... their feelings at any rate... it does come in useful when it decides to work, though it can be troubling as well...
Once you get yourself close to him though he can be a really nice kid as he doesn't really like being on his own, for all that he is willing to play the cocky confident loner. Oh... and quite a bit of a geek actually...
Habits:: Cracking the joints in his fingers and wrists, telling people what they're feeling when it occurs to him to do so, being very blunt, constantly playing with a pair of 10 sided dice, one purple, one teal, which he occasionally rolls to see how well something will work. (Yesyes. He likes RPG's.)
Hobbies:: Punk music, computer games, RPG's (of the computer and tabletop kind), reading fantasy and sci-fi, the internet, working on his own sci-fi book, playing various card games, he likes gin-rummy. Trying to deafen himself with loud music on his headphones, riding his bike, making models like planes when he can be bothered, drawing in a small notebook. Likes:: Reading, writing, climbing trees, messing around outside, animals, computer games, RPG's, sporty games with the right people, punk, rock and metal music, travelling with his folks, his family, random clothing, his dice, doodling in his notebook, the internet, comic books, comic book movies and funny jokes.
Favourite Food:: Chicken and broccolie pie, the kind made with potato on top. Apples, grapes, melon, and apple crumble.
Favourite Drink:: Grape Juice
Favourite Colour:: Purple or Teal (hence the hair)
Favourite Weather:: Sunny - he's less likely to get rained on
Favourite Time of year:: Summer - He can go outside
Favourite Thing:: His two dice or his very bright shoes
Favourite Place:: His small bunk in the camper van
Dislikes:: Too much rain, things hitting him in the face (he's had a few encounters with the campers wing mirrors), people flattening his hair, losing things, telling lies, people lying to him or others, bullies, people trying to make him feel bad, people touching his things and having to turn his music down. Also his gift sometimes... peoples feelings that just seem to pop into your head..? It can get a little freaky...
Particular Skills::He can fold his thumbs at a weird angle as he's double jointed in them...? He's not too bad at sketching things and he can blow pretty large bubbles with gum if you give him long enough

A Preview A taste of Tyler's personality :: A.K.A. The response to his prompt. Two boys were having a bit of a face off… one of them, a rather colourful haired young man had his arms folded, looking a little petulant… the other seemed to be feeling rather angrier… The colourful one spoke first.
“Well I was right anyway. You do think it’s funny that she fell down, I felt it when you felt it.” “Uuh. No I didn’t. I was laughing at that bird. I never even saw it.” “You did… you laughed as well. It was definitely her.” “What are you, a stupid mind reader or something..?” “No… I just feel things… there’s a difference. And I saw you pointing to.” “Well I didn’t. You’re lying. You’re always telling lies Tyler. And you’re stupid. I didn’t think anything of the sort.” He’d walked away after that and Tyler Moorcroft folded his arms and let his face fall into a rather sulky expression. “I didn’t say you thought it… I said you felt it.” He muttered to himself.
He wasn’t lying. He didn’t tell lies… and that other boy was laughing. He’d felt it when he started finding her accident funny... He had been laughing at the girl when she fell down and he’d lied to the adult about it as well when he came over to ask about it. The other boy had been asked if he’d been laughing at the girl… he’d said he hadn’t, and Tyler, who had seen him pointing and laughing and told the adult that the boy was lying. It was better to tell the truth. You were just meant to, it was more important even than eating all of your greens. He hated it when people lied… it was the reason that this sort of disagreement had already become a bit of a problem over the short amount of time he had been at the camp. Well, it was one of the reasons anyway… not all of the squabbles he got into were because of his weird ability to pick up what other people were feeling either… he was just blunt. So if he thought something needed to be said, he’d say it, and if you asked him a question he’d tell you exactly what he was feeling.
“Okay kids! Today we’re going to go on a walk, won’t that be fun?” “No. It rained all night. It’s wet and unpleasant. Someone will break something.”
That earned a mild chiding for not cooperating with the group..
“Come on, be nice now, I’m sure we’ll have fun.” “No. Tim will complain he can’t keep up. But he’s twice as heavy as the rest of us, so I’m not surprised. He’ll start crying too if you tell him to ‘try a little harder Tim!’”
He’d not meant to be mean. It was just the truth… but he could tell the man was getting a little irked with him… he ended up with a time out after telling him to chill out… not the best thing to say apparently.
He always said things he shouldn’t… but they seemed right to him. He wasn’t meant to lie after all… He’d told one girl her sweater looked silly. He’d told another girl she had a bug on her back and had moved to hit it away for her, she’d blamed him for putting it there. He told a boy he had a problem with him when he’d been asked. They had a scuffle. He told another boy that he was wrong on a quiz… that had just ended in an argument..
Basically he was just doing a pretty good job at making most of the people at the camp with him dislike him. He didn’t mean to… he really didn’t… he just liked to be honest. If someone asked him a question be it – Do you like jelly? Or even, do you have a problem with me? He’d tell them the truth either way. Whether the answer was yes, or no. And when he realised that other people were lying about something that he thought should be made somewhat clearer, well, just went on ahead and told the truth.
It didn’t matter if they didn’t want to talk to him. Okay… well it did. But he didn’t care. Much… okay so he did, but only a little, not enough to do anything differently from the way he already was, he didn’t like telling lies, he’d always been told it was bad to tell lies, and frankly he didn’t plan to do it. He’d have been told off if he had before, so he wasn’t going to do it now. He was however going to have a damn good sulk about it. At thirteen years old, he was sadly not at all above sitting down, sticking his bottom lip out and scowling about all the things that were wrong.
It had probably bothered his parents for some time, the fact that their little child didn’t make friends, but they were a quirky pair at the best of times, so they probably weren’t actually that surprised. Tyler himself seemed happy enough to sit down and read a book to pass the time anyway. He wasn’t shy, he wasn’t retiring and he was certainly not one to back down from anything, bully’s would have a real time trying to make him feel bad or scared, he had a heck of a lot of attitude, but the odd addition of a strong set of morals to go with it. Not to mention his noisy taste in music, not that that was really relevant.
Tyler himself figured that if kids didn’t want to talk to him then what did he care…? He knew that it made other people feel sad when they were ignored or shunned, he’d seen it happen enough at school and group… felt how sad the shy kids were, how they just wanted someone to talk to, that longing they felt when people walked over to them, then the crushing disappointment when they walked right on by… he’d resolved long ago that he’d never feel like that himself. He didn’t think people that wouldn’t talk to him deserved to have him really care that much, so he just didn’t. He’d just shrug it off, say a few bad words that he’d been told not to say under his breath about them and go back to doing whatever it was he’d been doing just before.
Basically, if someone wanted to talk to him, then he’d talk back, he wasn’t antisocial, he just didn’t really like people who acted badly, and he tended not to be too good around people who weren’t comfortable with hearing about it when they did something wrong… in time he would probably learn to control his rather special need to make blunt comments… but for the moment, with all lacking restraint of someone so young he just spoke without really thinking about it.
If they ignored him for too long however he’d certainly manage to get their attention. It wasn’t really likely to be intentional, at least… the probably results of his actions were likely to be unintentional. He’d probably just tell them that he thought they were petty, rude or unpleasant, or something equally likely to earn him another wave of dislike… one thing was sure, this boy was certainly going to need some suitably tolerant friends if he was actually going to get anywhere with the social side of life…
Was this the outcome of parents who thought hair dye and the sex pistols were really the way forward..? Either way, Tyler was certainly full of attitude and often, a bad case of the sulks…
