I think that if the lions take him that there series will do alot better not that it would take much
What did you say?
I was wondering the same thing. LOL
I think if you replace the word "series" with "offense" or "team", then it becomes clear.
I'm a Georgia alumni, so I've seen most of Stafford's games. He is NOT ready for the NFL. His tendency to try and squeeze the ball through tiny windows (all. the. time.) is a recipe for disaster in the NFL, where said windows either do not exist or are traps set by crafty defenders. He certainly has the potential to become a good NFL quarterback if he is allowed to develop as Aaron Rodgers was, but Detroit has no ability to develop a quarterback. Daunte Culpepper has got to be able to last the entire season, at minimum, to give Stafford a chance. There is no way he's going to become a Matt Ryan-type success (especially without anything resembling a Michael Turner!) which is what his fanbase expects of him.
I am afraid that Ryan and Joe Flacco are going to destroy some careers. They had so much success in their rookie season, that the bar has now been raised as to what is expected/demanded of a rookie quarterback. Thus far, the Lions seem sane and are set to start Culpepper this year. If Stafford gets thrown in in 2009 (and probably 2010), he's going to fail. No weapons, no O-line, not ready.. he'll be David Carr 2K9 if he starts this year. If he gets two years of development, though... then he can become something.
The Lions' disastrous year was just capped by a draft with no obvious immediate impact players. The only good option was to trade down, which was impossible. I think they would have done well to get the best lineman they could, but all that can be done now is to move forward.
