I accidentally watched CNN the other day, and they were going on and on about how the phrase "state's rights" has nasty racist connotations. For added effect, they threw in some poorly-typed, hyperbolic Twitter messages from viewers, calling Rick Perry a "traitor" and demanding jail time.

It's getting harder for me to believe that the media is simply incompetent and not outright malicious. I don't agree entirely with Rick Perry's approach, but the media bias against it is palpable.

(oh hey, I'm back!)

Silly Texas Republicans, too much de-regulation has been the cause of the worst economic woes our country has ever experienced...

I disagree, I believe that too much red tape bogged down some of our best companies. As you slash the profits of a company you also slash the owners money, I know the common instinct is to say good let the owners pay thier share, but if owners didn't get high salaries they might decide they don't want to be owners anymore. Would you put in extra toil and hard work to do a job that gets you just above the pay grade of those you employ? I sure wouldn't.

The economy is like nature, the more you try to fix it the better chance you have of totally screwing it up, however if you step back and leave it be it will gradually fix itself and pretty soon there will be no indication that it anything went astray.

States rights are a major threat to the Federal Governments power because it IS 100% Constitutional. As long as they don't try to break off and form their own country again, they have every right to defy the Federal Government in any matter that the Constsitution doesn't explicitly give to it. Its nice to see some people are finally starting to wake up to this fact.

The representitave in that artical is from my small district brandon Crieghton. HCR 50 simpely tells washington to back off and let texans handle texas affairs wich is in our constitution and bill of rights which the 10th amendment give states the rights not mentioned. and dont stereotype the republicans here, there is a differance between being a republican and simply being conservative. If anything you should have typed "Silly texas Conservatives" for the most part the republicans in the country are simply "Progressive light" and moved centre-left while in texas and various other southern states Both the Democrats and Republicans are more Actual conservatives. Conservatism and not Republicanism deserves the credit for the sudden remberance the we actualy have a constitution that is law, not just guide lines left to interpratation. and Im pretty sure the 30's were the worst economic woes, and this current resession.
