i don't know what's going on the first one... it looks kinda hairy though.

the second one is adorable. nice line work too.

the third one is nice but the ipod people would look better if they didn't have the white around them. part of the appeal is the completely solid silhouette.

For hairness. Eh it looks more like she has split ends, rather than hairy. Perhaps if you got rid of the line at the bottom and just had it go out as lines?
So there's no 'form' of the hair, just kinda flows. I think it definetly needs more shaggy-ness.

O__o; Does that make sense? I tend to be all 'bleh' in my descriptions xD

I like the Zombie, he rawks. xD It looks like he had a bad brain surgery. x3

The last one amuses me I wish I could be attacked by Ipod bearing fanboys and girls. .___.

A commission, again drawn at work. Another experiment in hairiness.

I think the problem with your hairiness is that it seems to be in conflict with the style you're using, which is characterized by simpler forms and a lack of detail...

That is true.

I'm sort of tired of the extremely low-def stuff though. I'm trying to incorporate scribbliness and hatching and lines and s**t. I mean, I know that hair can be accomplished with a well-placed highlight and all, but ... well I don't wanna do that. I don't really know why.

Maybe the heavy line-age breaks it up too much. I shall try hatching/scribbling on some stuff with little/no outline and see how that works out.

Yeah finer lines and also more definition of detail and components in general. Like, if you're going to draw hairs, you should be also drawing other little things to. I guess.

Although, texture can be simplified as well. On the bunny image for example, you used all smooth lines on parts that would be furry, but you could have broken the shape here and there with jagged lines to show tufts of fur sticking out.

Like this sig art i was given:

User Image

The artist is still using simplified shapes and bold lines, but still shows texture in the outline of the hair.

You might also look at VG cats, because the artists draws furry chracters in a super simple chibi type style.

That is fine but I'm trying to get away from the cel shading sort of look.

Problem is that all I get comissioned to do is sonic-type furry things, they don't really lend themselves to the sorts of things I guess I want to do.
