Er... charge?
There's like a few types of charge within zOMG...
You could charge up your rings by holding the left button on your mouse and their effect is much better....
Charge level, or that number that says 3.6, 7.2, 10.0.. etc is your current level... it's next to the little icon that has a little circle with a fire on it
Total Charge level is just how many orbs you've collected

If you press and hold the mouse button when selecting a ring, you get access to a more powerful attack. There are also different animations for some of the rings, depending on how much you charge them.
