Name for Wolf: Feathershroud Pack: White Shadow
Prompt Response: /You realize Mine, if you ride me we would get there faster./ Flicking her tail in annoyance, the crimson Wolf paced slowly forward beside her partner, irked at how slow it was taking them to reach their favorite spot. Feathershroud’s veins still coursed with some adrenaline from the recent battle, causing her to be more impatient than usual, taking it sharply out on her Rider in many circumstances.
“Just take it easy my friend, this whole trip is to calm you out, rather to calm both of us out. Try and enjoy the walk! Smell the air and feel the sun warming your fur, you deserve to relax for a while. Plus, I am not going to ride you until that cut on your front leg heals.” Vala knew that her partner needed sometime off after the battle, the female tended to become high-strung if not allowed to cool off from time to time, the fighting instincts in her would remain tapped until she could re-cap them. “We’re almost there anyways.” Smiling as she got a loud snort in response, the young Rider stretched her arms out before her, rotating her wrists and making them crack.
Their entire patrol survived the centipede attack, but it was the first time the young pair had actually fallen in battle. Feathershroud had been to hasty, and for being too hasty, both Rider and Wolf had received injuries. Vala herself was limping slightly, and although the Wolf was to proud to admit it, she was favoring her injured leg too. It was almost a given that she’d be having nightmares for the next few days, Centipedes were frightening enough, but the memory of it striking at them was not pretty at all. Retracting her hands from the air, Vala readjusted the strap of her Rifle, shifting it into a more comfortable position.
/Are we there yet?/
“Look for yourself, you know the way as well as I. Anxiousness is not a pleasing virtue Feathershroud, being able to take it as it is… is.”
/Bah./
It took the pair a few minutes more to reach the ancient oak, its twisted branches casting long shadows which danced softly as the sun filtered through the leaves. It was quiet here, no noisy Recruits or Apprentices practicing close by, and only the occasional shout of a fellow Wolfrider pierced the quiet. Waiting until the large Wolf splayed herself out in the shade, Vala propped her rifle against the nearest root before arranging herself against her Bonded’s belly. It was in these times, that the two females felt utterly and undeniably connected, the bond between them almost tangible in the silence.
/How is it that you are always so laid back Mine? Don’t you feel the fighting need running through your blood?/
“Of course I do, but I was brought up to keep a cool head and not let my emotions cloud my judgment. You know how frightened I am of those giant nuisances, but I know if I don’t do my job, innocent people will die. Therefore, I do my best and try and believe that everything will be okay.” Itching her thigh through her black breeches, the young woman sighed almost inaudibly. “Its too bad, that we can’t live in a time of peace. Winter seems to be the only reprieve from these attacks that we get.”
Silence passed between the Rider and Wolf for a long period of time, both listening to the heartbeat of the other. A soft breeze drifted through the clearing, ruffling the feathers that protruded out from the female’s broach, sending them gently swaying. But of course it was Feathershroud that broke the silence, her tail settling over Vala’s legs and her head angling toward the girl, pupils dilating with interest.
/Vala. What do you suppose life was like before the great War?/
Leaning back so her head rested against the Wolf’s red pelt, the Rider closed her eyes before beginning to speak, her knack for story telling coming through in her words. “Long ago, there were vast cities all over the world. Humans had been the dominant species, and wolves ran wild throughout the forests on every continent. And although the two races weren’t always friendly, there were a few humans that believed in the good side of your ancestors… ” Words flowing into images, Vala began to weave the story that had been told to her by her mother, and her mother before her. The centipede attack had brought up thoughts of a time when their threat was null and void, and stories of the past before the great war, always sedated the need for such feelings.
It seemed that time had paused for Vala as she spun her tale, it too, listening with baited breath. For it had indeed seen, in some ways, happier times.

Name for Wolf: RoseSnow Pack: White Shadow
Prompt Response:Monica ran over into the small field like an excited little girl, despite being eighteen years old, her white wolf RoseSnow following right behind her. She flopped onto the soft earth and smiled. "We survived yet another attack, Snow." Monica said, and laughed. "Think it's luck or what?" You really underestimate yourself.
"Nah, you do all the work, while I ran around shooting, scared out of my mind ." Monica said. She took a deep breath of the fresh air. It felt so good compared to when she was training as a recruit and had to run around the building when she was late in the middle of winter. She was still new, and only bonded a while back. But she and Rosesnow were very close already. Rosesnow curled up near Monica and gazed at the sky. It's nice. she thought.
Monica nodded. "You gotta love spring." she said. She picked a wildflower out of the ground and played with it. She thought about the battle and how scared she was and worried. Rosesnow snorted lightly and thought. If you were a little more experienced you wouldn't need to be worried about little things. Monica frowned. "You're gonna kill my mood." she complained. "And besides, it was my first battle, I wasn't... emotionally ready. It was pretty big, you know." Rosesnow made a sound that might have been laughter. "You're just trying to get on my nerves, Snow." Monica said, and tried to ignore her Wolf. She plucked the petals out of the wildflower. Rosesnow flicked her tail. You were pretty good for a first-timer. You killed a few centipedes. I have a feeling you'll be great one day.
Monica grinned. "You think?"
Rosesnow didn't answer, she just curled up and tried to sleep.

ThemeList of Preferences: White Picolit Name for Wolf: CloudWood Pack: White Shadow Prompt Response: Calla flopped back in the grass, brushing aside her bangs and staring up at the sky. Another round turned back and another well-earned break. She’d already stripped off her uniform and lay there in a pair of loose, threadbare, too big shorts and an old brown t-shirt that she carried in her backpack along with her extra ammo during battle. Shaking her head, she looked over at CloudWood and smiled at him fondly.
“Having fun over there?” She called out; CloudWood ignored her. He was on his back in the grass wriggling in the dirt. After a few moments of wiggling about in a fashion that greatly reminded Calla of a fish out of water, he rolled over and settled down. Closing his eyes he stretched out to let the sun hit as much of him as possible. “You know, we really should go about cleaning that wound.” Calla spoke sternly as she pulled herself onto her knees and then settled into a sprinters position. CloudWood ignored her, hoping that if he continued to do so, she would let him go to sleep. Calla shook her head at the wolf as she launched herself across the short space between her and the much bigger wolf.
Ramming into the side of CloudWood felt very much like running into the side of a brick building after being thrown off the back of a very fast wolf. CloudWood humored her, rolling onto his side and sighing at his foolish rider.
‘Well at least I can get a look at his leg.’ Calla thought to herself. She’d already patched it up and stopped the blood flow but what it really needed was to be rinsed out; she wasn’t sure what had happened. CloudWood himself had not even started limping until afterwards. Carefully, she unraveled the bandages; the blood had plastered to his fur and he did not flinch as she tugged out small bits of hair along with it. In fact, he didn’t even respond. The only sound heard were the soft snores and dream-growls coming from him. The lazy mutt had actually fallen asleep! Calla just shook her head and examined the wound; it definitely needed to be washed. And she knew the most effective way to wake him up.
“Cloud. Bath time.” Calla whispered leaning in close to his ear. She had to move back quickly as his head whipped up and his blue eyes stared directly into her own dark brown ones.
"I don’t think so." He responded shortly, snorting at her to emphasize his point. Calla just laughed and shoved against his shoulder.
“C’mon buddy. It’s been ages since your last bath! You need one.” To emphasize her own point she inhaled deeply and wrinkled her nose mockingly at him. CloudWood just stuck his paw in her stomach and pushed her away. Calla allowed him to and flopped back in the grass.
“You lethargic bag of bones! You need a bath, get in the water.” Calla commanded, standing ominously above the wolf and pointing to the shallow lake on the other side of a small straggle of trees. CloudWood just stretched himself back out in the sun, deciding his “ignore her” method had a much better chance than actually arguing with her, as that seemed to be about as effective as arguing with a boulder. Calla moved around him, standing between him and the sun and casting as big of a shadow on him as she possibly could.
"You’re blocking my sun." Iron stated almost sternly, opening one eye to glare up at his stubborn bondmate.
“Oh, am I now? Terribly sorry, may I suggest you move? I know a very nice location, it’s a very nice, very warm lake.” Calla spoke in an extremely snarky manner, knowing it would get on his nerves. After she spoke she was off like a shot from a pistol, racing towards the trees that stood between her and the lake. CloudWood was right on her heels, about ready to pounce on his owner. Calla knew he would not hurt her, but he could certainly pin her down and go back to sleep, something he’d done before. It was only because Calla had gotten a head start that she managed to make it to the trees before CloudWood caught up to her. She slid to an unexpected halt, allowing the white and blue wolf to run into her and send her body flying. Moving through the air she pulled herself into a diving position as she came ever closer to the water, inhaling deeply as she plunged through the surface. She swam down, gripping the bottom of the lake to keep herself from floating back up and focusing her thoughts solely on bubbles.
After a few moments without his rider coming back up, CloudWood sighed and touched his paw to the water. Shuddering, he growled to himself before moving quickly into deeper water to fetch back his Bondmate. Calla snickered as she rose up to the surface, floating right past CloudWood as she did so.
"Let it be known I am here by choice, not by your petty human trickery. " CloudWood said with a snort as he went limp and let himself float back up to the surface with her.
“It is known, now get over here and let’s clean out that wound, and the rest of you while we’re already here.” Calla laughed, though she should have known he wouldn’t just leave it at that. As she swam closer to the now soaking wolf, he took off away from her and into deeper waters, a wolfish grin spreading across his face.
"Now come on, you aren’t so gullible as to believe that are you?" He taunted. Calla grinned, taking off after him and realizing this was most certainly not the end.
“At this rate we’ll be here all night!” She called after him, but he just kept moving. If he couldn’t have a nap he was going to have his fun first.Word Count: 1,000

Name for Wolf: Snowrose Pack: New Eve
Prompt Response:
"We're lucky to have survived, you know. Why are you being so cold, when you should be celebrating?" Ahna asked her wolf, Snowrose. The white female was in front of her, not even glancing back to see if her rider was following. Ahna stopped suddenly, waiting for the wolf's response.
I never said we weren't lucky. Besides, I don't celebrate. Unless whatever it is has to do with me. Ahna looked disgustedly at the wolf, who was still walking.
"How vain, Snow! Can't you ever think of anything but yourself?!"
Hmmm.... nope. Never. Now the white wolf turned, eyes glittering with amusement. It was just like her to be as vain and nitpicky as a peacock.
"Where are you taking me, anyway, Snow?" Ahna sighed, remembering the "surprise" that her wolf was going to show her.
Do you not understand the term 'surprise' or something, Ahna? Just be patient, we'll be there soon.
"Fine, fine. Make it quick, though. Maybe walk faster or-"
We're here. Please shut up now. The female had stopped on the top of a small hill.
"A hill? This is a surprise? We see these everyday, and-"
Get up here. Please. Snowrose waved her tail impatiently. Ahna sighed and climbed up after her. When she reached the top of the hill, she let out a gasp. Snowrose glanced at her smugly.
Pretty, isn't it? Ahna nodded, breathless. From the top of the hill one could see miles of flowers below in all shades of colors. Red roses grew alongside yellow tulips. Violets, blue, brushed with dandelions. Of all the meadow below, one could see no grass, except for in the sparse places where the flowers broke off, leaving tiny blades of grass growing in their place. None of the field was brown, none barren, all colorful.
"How did you find this place, Snow?" Ahna asked, eyes not leaving the rainbow of flowers below. The wolf turned to her.
That's like me asking you what the meaning of life is. Simple, you don't know. I don't know how I found it. I just... did.
"I actually do know the meaning of life, you know." Ahna said sarcastically. Snowrose, missing the tone of voice, whipped her head around.
Speak, human! Tell me the meaning of life! Snowrose growled, baring her teeth. Ahna shuffled back a few steps, away from the snarling beast.
"I was kidding. Good grief! Are you that desperate to know the secret of life?" Ahna questioned. Snowrose turned away, putting her head on her paws and looking out over the flowers.
Perhaps this is the meaning of life, Ahna. Sitting with friends and loved ones and just... talking.
Ahna grinned. "Perhaps it is, Snow. Perhaps it is."

Prompt Response: Mishika walked down a serene dirt path. The day had not yet come, and the nighttime moon was like a flower in full bloom; its snowy white rays of light reflecting off of every surface, coving the dense land in a eerie white hue. She loved taking walks in the middle of the night; especially during the winter since threats of being attacked where fairly low.
Out again, are you?
Mishi turned around and saw a huge, white ball of fluffy charging towards her, the small blue feather hair piece that was tied securly to its hair bobbing with each fluent movement; it was none other then her compainion BlueMist. She smiled gleefully, "Hey there Blue!" She mused as the large male wolf came to a slow halt next to her.
Ya know Mish, you really should be so naive with your wandering. BlueMist scolded, his jaw coming into a large yawn, showing a nice row of ivory white teeth.
"I know I know... But, its just nice to get out, and I find it much more appealing at night" She mused, her mouth coming to a nice, define smile, "Besides, its winter time" I added.
True.. But, still. Its dangerous. Can't we at least start to head back? The sun is going to rise up soon The wolf urged.
Mishi laughed, "Alright Alright. Well have it your way~" She said in a sing-song voice before clambering up onto the back of BlueMist, "Lead the way~"
Oh yes, You walk out here but you have no intentions of walking back now that I came?... Oh right, I must remember this is YOU I'm dealing with~ the wolf said, taking off back towards the base.
"And whats THAT supposed to mean?" Mish giggled,
It means you act like a blonde sometimes, so to speak BlueMist said, blinking as his paws thrummed against the floor.
"Oh whatever... You big ball of fluff!" Mishika laughed, looking ahead at the nearing base that she now resided in; White Shadow. It didn't take long for the two to reach the small building Mishi slept in.
Now, Off you go to bed, before you accedently kill someone. BlueMist spoke, his mouth coming back in a wolfish grin.
"I'll try not to!" Mish called back jokeingly, and like that, the night drew to a close.

Name for Wolf: Zephyr Pack: New Eve
Prompt Response:
Daiyu sighed softly, letting her blueish black hair fall slowly down her bare back as she unraveled her tight hair buns. Yesterday had been exhausting; the attack of the centipedes had brutally taken it's toll on the young woman's body.
"Alright?"
Coming swiftly up behind the half-naked woman, Zephyr stared with concern at his Rider. A scratch glowed red-hot on her small back, from right blade to left waist. A gift from a centipede while the young woman was away from his care. He gave a whine. She shouldn't have gotten hurt.
"Hm, I am well, thank you, Zephyr," replied Daiyu, releasing her sarong and easing herself into the whirling hot bath. Her black eyes gazed at her wolf. "This has nothing to do with you, little one, so do not be patronizing yourself."
"If I hadn't let you get yourself knocked off of me, it wouldn't have happened, so yes, it is my fault," Zephyr insisted, modestly closing his eyes as he settled down next to his Rider's towel.
"Then I, too, am at fault, for being thrown." Daiyu smiled coyly, reaching out and patting Zephyr's head softly. He let out a murmur as he nuzzled against her wet wrist. "Let us both be happy we are alive," Daiyu continued, leaning back against the hot pool's ledge. She flicked a water drop off her cream colored skin as it dripped passed her star-shaped orange cheek tattoo.
Zephyr opened one eye to view his human. She never raised her voice to him, nor thought anything could ever be his fault...and in turn, he couldn't be more proud of her. Their relationship was strange for a wolf and his Rider, but Zephyr enjoyed every moment of it. Did she feel the same?
"Daiyu," Zephyr began, closing his eye again and placing his head on his paws. "Why do you think you and I were bonded?"
Slightly startled by his question, Daiyu raised herself up, water streaming from her undersized chest and back. "Why? You do not wish to be partners?" Her words were small and filled with a deep sadness.
"No, no, that isn't it at all!" Zephyr rapidly assured her, standing up and staring into her eyes. "I just...wish to know why you would want to be bonded with a small, weak wolf like me...." His voice soften and trailed as his tail went limp behind him. Lowering his head to his white-blue chest, he gave a whine.
A moment passed before Zephyr was suddenly splashed by Daiyu, who let out a merry giggle. "Oh, silly puppy, there is no one better for me to be bonded to. You and I understand each other, in a way no other wolf or human could. And, dear one, incase your sharp eyes have deceived you, I am small and weak as well. Now, come, better get in and clean yourself off. Duty begins again tomorrow."
Grinning a wolfish grin, Zephyr padded into the bath with his Rider. Laughter and splashes could be heard from outside the bathhouse, as Rider and Wolf washed their troubles away.

List of Preferences: White Picolit White Rosso Blue Picolit Red Rosso Name for Wolf: Icefire Pack: White Shadow
Prompt Response:
“One hundred and twelve.”
What? Icefire shifted under my legs, craning his large, proud head to peer backwards at me. The sun was shining, not a cloud was in sight, and tiny white flowers frosted the training field all around us. No sound reached across that wide expanse of blooming meadow save the occasional chirrup or tweet of a bird. Icefire lay half asleep under me…well, I’d thought he was asleep. But apparently not…
“One hundred and twelve blue hairs you’ve shedded today, fuzzball,” I answered, waving a handful of the sky-colored fur in his face. “You’re turning into a regular fluffball.”
A slight shift of movement warned me before he stood suddenly, purposely tipping me off his back. In a swift motion I was pinned to the ground by a huge blue paw. Care to repeat that comment? He bared his teeth in a lazy grin, tail wagging as he obviously enjoyed a moment of absolute superiority.
“Okay,” I whined. “I meant that you’re a magnificently built, exquisitely marked, beautiful-awesome-unquestionable-unchallengeable-mighty-powerful-handsome-flamboyant-fleet-footed-amazing-dangerous display of absolute lupine perfection.” He pushed a little harder. “I mean, the most…you know.” He growled. "The most magnificently built, exquisitely marked, beautiful-awesome-unquestionable-unchallengeable-mighty-powerful-handsome-flamboyant-fleet-footed-amazing-dangerous display of absolute lupine perfection." The paw lifted but before I could react his pink, wet tongue dragged over my face from chin to forehead.
I love it when you say that.
“I know you do.” I pushed his foolish wolfy face out of mine as I stood, hiding a ripe dandelion behind my back.
I saw that. I didn’t care. With a well-aimed, hard blow, I sent the fluffy seeds into his open mouth at enormously high speeds before bolting. “And still fluffy! Cantcatchme!”
With a roar of indignance and injured pride he was on his feet, tearing after me. You are really too much, he announced as he caught hold of my uniform. He promptly and unceremoniously dumped me in the nearest stream, then leapt in himself. The Icefire who emerged was shiny and sleek as a gazelle, and much prettier. Happy?
I giggled and nodded, to which he deposited a slimy glob of dandelion fluff on my head. Groaning, I submerged the offended spot in the cool flow of water. “Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!” I scrubbed furiously at my hair, trying to get the clinging mass out. “You’re so mean!”
And you’re now fluffy, he retorted. I tackled him, and in a blink he was off running with me atop his back. The warm spring air quickly wicked all the wetness from my body as we careened up a large hill at a breakneck speed. By now it was easy to hold on even when he leapt over fallen logs and broken rocks, but I fell off anyways, out of pure fun, closing my eyes as if unconscious. Immediately he turned and stuck his nose against mine. I can see your thoughts, remember?
Darn. It really was hard to fool someone who was privy to your deepest, darkest secrets. I stroked his soft muzzle, feeling lucky to be bonded with such a magnificent creature. “I love you,” I murmured as he lay in the grass beside me. With a contented little sigh I leaned against his big, furry side and closed my eyes. The hillside was quiet and still, calming. “Icefire, what do you think you’d do if I fell to the centipedes one day?”
No answer. I opened my eyes and watched a butterfly drift past. He was fast asleep, dreaming of tender deer thighs, if my guess was worth anything. A little disappointed, I rolled over and stroked his beautiful fur. His ears twitched, and I knew he was faking. “Me…I don’t know what I’d do without you. Probably pine away and die, or some similar unexciting and depressing event.” He lazily butted me with his head, eyes only half-open. I’d eat all the centipedes, and then burst of sadness and centipede poison and a very full stomach. I laughed softly--it sounded like an Icefire thing to do.
“But mostly the full stomach.” Both his eyes slid wide open in offense. NO. I could tell he wasn’t amused by the way he stiffened in a nearly frightened manner. Remorseful, I sat up and took one of his huge paws in my hand. “Icefire, I’ve never, ever doubted your friendship. I’m sorry.” He didn’t answer, only licked my hand, but I knew I was forgiven. I love you too.

Prompt Response: Lyra stoked Blizzard, her hand going through the silky white and blue fur. “What’s wrong?” he asked turning his head to look Lyra in the eyes, remaining lying on the grass. Her eyes looked sad and solemn. “The way you look, you’d think one of us has died, but all of the patrol survived.” “I know…” Lyra’s tone matched the look in her eyes. Suddenly she did a small smile, though to Blizzard it was the most beautiful smile he sees; Lyra’s real smiles, to him, though they were few and far between, they were all beautiful, and he treasured every single one he saw. “The sky is so clear today,” Lyra mumbled as she gazed up at the sky. “Yes, and the flowers are now in bloom, having woken up from their slumber now that it’s spring,” Blizzard said, feeling relief that Lyra seemed to have cheered up a little; but what followed was a somber, not happy smile, a false smile. Blizzard’s ears perked up in alarm, and stood up so that he was now taller than the sitting Lyra. “What’s wrong?” Blizzard wanted to sound stern, demanding, but he could never get himself to sound like that when talking to Lyra; instead, it was a soft, comforting voice. Just what is wrong for her to be like this? Blizzard thought. “These flowers truly are beautiful, aren’t they?” she kept on with the sad smile. “Yes, they are,” Blizzards voice was filled with confusion. “This spot will eventually be the site of a battle with the centipedes too. When that time comes, even this beautiful meadow will become tainted with blood, whether it be blood from the centipedes, a wolf or a wolfriders blood; perhaps this will even become my resting place in a battle.” “Don’t think of such things!” Blizzard’s voice was full of alarm. “You mustn’t think such things. I will never let you die in battle, nor will I let myself die. You must see these flowers as life, not death! When you see these flowers, you mustn’t think such thoughts, by doing so you are insulting them! While they’re trying to bring joy, you are making them give you sorrow. Don’t make them do that; rather, accept their joy, and have faith in yourself. You are stronger than you know.” Blizzard gazed deeply into Lyra’s eyes, and saw the sadness disappear. “You’re right, I’m sorry,” and Lyra leaned forward and gave Blizzard a hug full of love. Blizzard rubbed his head under Lyra’s hand, and then rested his head against her.

Name for Wolf: Riverflight Pack: White Shadow
Prompt Response: A wolf rider and his wolf sat under a tree, watching clouds as they rolled past. The lonely tree sat just inside the fence and a nice walking distance from the fort. They could also heard some cows mooing a few yards away. The human finally sat up to look at his blue wolf, though he winced with pain when he did. His arm was in a sling, he had gotten a bad bite from a centipede. He was glad it was only a brake, and he didn't lose hie whole arm.
"How are you doing, Riverflight?" he asked, a childish smile on his face. Even though he almost had his arm bitten off, he was still in a good mood, but happy was just normal from him.
"You're asking me, Chris. You're who is one hurt. You need to be more watchful," Riverflight told him worried about his rider. Sometimes Chris was just to easy going from his own good, much unlike the more serious wolf.
"Don't worry. I'll be fine. But I've got you a present for your hard work, and saving me once again." With his good arm, Chris, dig though his bag, to pull out a feather charm, and carefully put it on Riverflight. "I know you like these kinds of things, so I got it during winter. I was just saving it for the right moment to give it to you." He rubbed the back of his neck, a little embarrassed.
The wolf at the blue feather, and give a slight wag of his tail. "Thank you. But you really shouldn't have."
"But I did, and I know like it. So no trying to get me to take it back." Standing up, with a grunt, Chris patted Riverflight on the shoulder. "Plus now I can trease you about being a pretty wolfy." With that said he started to trot back to the fort.
"Yet, now you are the one with the pretty wolfy. We'll be tease more then me," he playfully growled. He quickly got to his paws and follow after the rider. He also sent a picture to Chris's mind of him being surround by his fellow privates laughing at him.
"I'll just laugh right awhile with them."
