The Daruma Details Daruma are living forms originally created by humans centuries ago through the use of genetic manipulation. Over time, procreation and abnormal genetic mutation split the Daruma race into several shapes and forms. Their genes are somewhat different from the genes of animals; they mutate much more quickly due to an extra sequence of nucleotides that was not created by humans.
The Daruma have well-developed minds. Compared to the humans from before E.J. (Extremes Judicium), the Daruma are relatively more intelligent. If one were to compare IQ rates -- the average human IQ was said to be 100, whereas the average Daruma IQ is 180. Although this measure of intelligence is long obsolete, it illustrates the stark difference between Daruma and humans..The Kaos Moving the Universe The Kaos is a form of matter discovered by the Daruma in relatively recent times; it became extremely important to the Daruma society ever since. Kaos is described as the inherent unpredictability in the behavior of complex natural systems. The Daruma found out that Kaos was the precursor to the catastrophic natural disasters that devastated human and Daruma civilizations again and again over the centuries, destroying their cities and killing their citizens while they stood powerless, able only to watch. They observed that the Kaos was fluid and could accumulate like energy. When that energy reached certain thresholds, it could suddenly manifest as a chain of coincidences or circumstances that would lead to a natural disaster, proportionate to the amount of Kaos in the area. For a long time, the Daruma knew of the Kaos but could do nothing to control it. Later on, scientists made an important discovery that unlocked the potential within their race: Daruma have a latent ability to shape Kaos, stemming from their extra chromosome, now known as K.C. (Kaos Chromosome).Kaos Chromosome (KC) Daruma's Inner Changes Humans were never able to understand the presence of the extra chromosome in the Daruma's genetic structure, but further study done by the greatest minds of the Daruma society unraveled many of its mysteries. The most accepted theory so far is that the chromosome created itself from random lines of codes left loose by humans in the atomic structure; a radical addendum to this theory is that the formation of this chromosome happened deliberately due to Kaos. It's said that when humans were creating every structural aspect of Daruma's genes, Kaos contaminated the frail structure of the unfinished pieces of chromosomes and used the extra bits of random code to create a completely new chromosome, the K.C. The deliberation and "intelligence" of Kaos itself is still being debated.
This chromosome apparently absorbs Kaos from around the Daruma, and can be used to perform unnatural feats, including changing any aspect of a Daruma's anatomy. This is only possible when the amount of Kaos harnested reaches certain amounts, which in turn is only possible within a specific state of mind. During the scientific experiments, this state of mind often had to be induced, but in a very short time trained Daruma became able to reach this state without the help of devices. Kaos became incredibly useful and therefore widespread in Daruma society. It is important to note that overuse of chaos can cause great harm to both the users and those around. Laws were created to assure that Kaos would only be used in extensive amounts inside specially created domes. These domes reverse all the destruction within range after being deactivated, resetting the inside reality to its original state. This is possible thanks to time-space anchoring technology developed previously and used mostly in vehicles, but further enhanced to work within the domes. With time and creativity expending Kaos in the domes soon became a sport, supported by the authorities. Not only did engaging within the domes lessen the chances of natural disasters, but it was also competitive and fun, to boot.

--- more stuff will be here soon ---
✖ Breeding Back when Sedes was called Earth and humans ruled, Daruma were created as a plaything -- a servant race that could entertain or aid the needs of their masters. Human technology had gotten pretty far; it was possible for humans to "manufacture" or grow organic matter. Three species of Daruma were made: the Lepus, the Canis, and the Tigris. Scientists had long known how to tinker with DNA to get it to do what they wanted, and creating Daruma was not too hard a feat. They were grown from a "template:" a bundle of cells with a specific DNA, usually changed for things such as color, temperament, strength, and so on, depending on what the human master wanted from their Daruma.
Once the DNA was set, the actual growing took very little time. A mass of cells would be placed within a special incubator, and it would quickly grow. When the time came, the Daruma were placed in special "pods." The pods were not strictly for growing, though they did provide the Daruma with nourishment and protection. Putting Daruma in pods allowed the manufacturing companies to ship their product to their customer without risking the Daruma getting harmed or lost in the process.
After the Daruma took over, many changes were made. For one, the Daruma figured out the art of upgrades, and later the art of "evolving" or undergoing a procedure to change into a much more advanced second stage. Here is how the breeding process works:
When two Daruma think they are ready to have children (and this is not a "on-a-whim" decision; Daruma are not as rash as some humans were, and even being considered for breeding can take a long while and many checks), they will visit an agency that will help them accomplish their goal. Both stages of Daruma can have offspring, although they must be the same stage, or else the DNA won't be compatible. Two different species can breed; in this case, scientists will choose either one or the other species and its respective chromosomes, and then combine the other chromosomes for genes that match (those for things such as color).
To start the process, scientists take DNA from haploid cells found within both parents, combining them in ways previously mentioned. The cells are then incubated, grown, and placed in pods, much like as before. The process never yields more than four new Daruma -- and even that is very rare. Usually at least two Daruma can be created, sometimes three.
Due to the ethics involved in creating living matter, producing Daruma for specific jobs or work reasons is usually not allowed, and agencies that create Daruma children must go through a rigorous process before they can start their practice. Eugenics is a slippery slope, and the Daruma are quite careful to guard against it.
✖ Why Upgrades Carry Over Oftentimes parents who breed are already modified with upgrades. Since upgrades are alterations to genetic code, it is not uncommon for at least one of the children to inherit these alterations, although usually in a milder form than if they were to get it done artificially.

Daruma society's most exciting pastime. Engaging is a beloved sport worldwide. There are many different styles -- from the basic duel, which is the most common, to famous championships with special rules and conditions. The best Engagers often become celebrities in the Daruma society.
The most important rules of Engaging are: 1) Do not kill another Daruma, and 2) Accept your opponent's surrender.
After each fight, the Daruma are able to heal every wound and regenerate every broken bone through the advanced Dome technology.
Professional Engagers almost always make use of Upgrades, which are the more refined method of using the Kaos Chromosome (and usually more permanent). These Upgrades range from new body parts, like wings, to special modifications to allow attacks, such as shooting plasma darts from fingertips. The possibilities are rather vast.General FAQ: Q. What's Engaging, exactly?A. Let me explain! Engaging is battling another Daruma or any other target. Engages between Darumas can take the shape of different styles of fighting. You can have a basic fight with few rules, or fights with special sets of rules, such as team fights, capture the flag, etc.Q. Can I create my own styles of Engages?A. Sure, send the idea to us and we'll judge if it's possible to work it in with our system.Q. What do I get from Engaging?A. You get Mutagens, which you can use to grow your Daruma to the next stage of evolution, or to buy upgrades.Q. How do I Engage?A. You Engage by using your Daruma's skills to overcome your opponent.Q. Are there rules for Engaging?A. Yes, there are basic rules, such as not killing and stopping the battle if the target forfeits. Beyond these rules, new conditions can be instated, changing the Style of the Engage. For example, a Time Attack is a match where the Engage needs to end after a certain number of posts. If the limit is reached and there's no clear winner, the winner will be decided by a certain condition, such as "whoever lost the least HP," "whoever attacked the most," and etcetera. There are several styles and you can even create your own.Q. Where do we Engage?A. You can usually only engage in the Daruma Guild, either inside a normal RP thread or in a special sub-forum for Engaging. There may be times during events when you’ll be able to battle in the main shop thread. Do not Engage outside the guild otherwise unless giving permission by one of the staff. (:Q. Who judges the winner of the Engage?A. Everyone involved in an Engagement must be 100% aware of the rules and possess a minimum knowledge of the system. Usually an Engage will be carried out by its two (or more) participants. One of the staff may check in occasionally to see that it went smoothly and to give out mutagens, but we will not necessarily moderate the whole match.Q. Can Daruma kill each other during an Engage?A. You can only kill another Daruma if both participants are willing to participate in a "to the death" match. Be aware that in the Daruma society, killing is seen as a grave crime, leading to possible consequences in future RP. It's doubtful anyone would want to do this, though. (: Daruma aren't bloodthirsty savages like some humans!

Daruma Enhancements Upgrades are an extremely developed part of Daruman technology. They allow for the alteration of a Daruma's body through the stimulation of the Kaos Chromosome. Mutations can be permanent and visible (new body parts, wings, etc.), but there are also mutations that can be "triggered" at the proper moment. All Upgrades use great amounts of Kaos energy; Engagers with powerful Upgrades often amaze viewers with a godlike display of power and skills.
The use of Upgrades isn't limited to Engages, however. There are mutations that can be used in the everyday world, though it is important to note that using a strong and destructive Upgrade outside a Dome is against the laws without a permit. Special Forces, construction workers, bodyguards, and many similar Daruma own permits of certain grades, depending on what they need for their work. Permits are not limited to these Daruma, either; there are, for example, Biologists who have them, needing the power of Upgrades to handle some of the most dangerous fauna on Sedes.
Normal Upgrades can be bought anywhere these days, but more advanced ones are sold with great care. The correct permit is needed to even have access to them. Unlawful black markets for selling Upgrades exist, causing big problems in some cities for the local police forces.
