Anko Mitarshi - The examiner for the second exam of the Chunin Selection Exams.
Aoba Yamashiro - One of the handful Tokubetsu Jonins of Konoha, who is randomly seen from time to time.
Asuma Saratobi - The leader of Team 10, consisting of Shikamaru Nara, Choji Akimichi and Ino Yamanaka.
Bansai - An elder monk in the Temple of Fire. It is unknown if he was a ninja.
Chiriku - One of the Twelve Guardian Ninja, who once was hired to protect the Fire Country's Daimyou.
Choji Akimichi - Partners with Ino Yamanaka and Shikamaru Nara, under the command of Asuma Sarutobi. Shikamaru has been his best friend since before their time at the Ninja academy.
Choza Akimichi - The father of Choji Akimichi and former teammate of Shikaku Nara and Inoichi Yamanaka, and together they were the Previous Ino-Shika-Cho trio. The kanji on his chest armor means "food".
Danzo - A war monger whose politics operated in opposition to the Third Hokage's politics.
Ebisu - Specializes in the private training of elite ninja, as stated by Kakashi Hatake. The name "Ebisu" comes from the Japanese god Ebisu, who is usually pictured as a fisherman that brings wealth and prosperity to believers, and watches over the health of young children.
Genma Shiranui - A Tokubetsu Jonin. He always has a senbon needle in his mouth to use as a weapon.
Gennai - A Genin from Konohagakure.
Hana Inuzuka - The daughter of Tsume Inuzuka and older sister of Kiba Inuzuka. Hana is commonly used to mean "Flower" but in Hana's case it translates to "Nose". She is a Chunin as well as an excellent and respected veterinarian. Her canine companions, three nin-dog brothers who possess dark gray fur, are called the Haimaru Sankyodai.
Hanabi Hyuga - A member of the Hyuga Clan. She is the youngest daughter of Hiashi Hyuga, younger sister of Hinata Hyuga, and cousin of Neji Hyuga.
Hiashi Hyuga - The head of the Hyuga Clan. He is the father of Hinata and Hanabi Hyuga, twin brother of the late Hizashi Hyuga, and uncle of Neji Hyuga.
Hinata Hyuga - A member of the Hyuga Clan. She is on Team 8 with Kiba Inuzuka and Shino Aburame, under the leadership of Kurenai Yuhi.
Homura Mitokado - A former member of Team Tobirama, together with Hiruzen Sarutobi and Koharu Utatane. He and Koharu now form the Konoha Council.
Ibiki Morino - The examiner for the first part of the Chunin Exams and the head of the Konoha's ANBU Torture and Interrogation Force.
Inaho - A Genin from Konohagakure.
Ino Yamanaka - A secondary character in Naruto who is on Team 10 with Choji Akimichi and Shikamaru Nara, under the leadership of Asuma Sarutobi.
Inoichi Yamanaka - A Jonin from the Hidden Leaf village, and alongside Shikaku Nara and Choza Akimichi, he is a part of the first Ino-Shika-Cho trio.
Iruka Umino - An instructor at the Ninja Academy, characterized by the distinctive scar across his face that he has had since childhood. The name "Umino Iruka" can be taken as "umi no iruka" ("sea dolphin").
Isaribi - A human test subject under the control of Amachi who in turn used to work for Orochimaru.
Itachi Uchiha - A missing-nin from Konohagakure, and a prominent member of Akatsuki, partnered with Kisame Hoshigaki. He and Kisame were the first active Akatsuki members to appear. He is Sasuke Uchiha's older brother.
Iwashi Tatami - We first see Iwashi Tatami showing Anko Mitarashi a video of the sand siblings after passing the second test of the Chunin Exams but mainly for her to focus her attention on Gaara cause he was untouched.
Izumo Kamizuki - A Chunin from Konohagakure. He spends most of the time with his partner Kotetsu Hagane watching who enters and leaves at Konohagakure's Main Gate. Many times, most of the time during the Filler arcs, they are easily fooled with Transformation Jutsu or ignored by people who run past the gate.
Jiraiya - One of the legendary Sannin, along with Tsunade and Orochimaru, who was trained by the Third Hokage himself.
Kabuto Yakushi - The last part of the Japanese name for aconite, a plant which can either alleviate pain or kill, an apt description for his character. Additionally, a Kabuto is also the name for a samurai's helmet or head plate. With his former teammates, Yoroi ("armor") and Tsurugi ("sword"), they form an armor-helmet-sword trio. Kabuto can also refer to a rhinoceros beetle. His family name, Yakushi, is the Japanese name of the Medicine Buddha, Bhaisajyaguru.
Kataki Hatake - A Konohagakure Jonin, a former ANBU Captain and the leader of Team 7.
Kazuma - Also known as Furido, is a character who appears in the first filler arc of Shippuuden. He was once part of the Twelve Guardian Ninja who was part in the half of the group who attempted a coup d'etat against one of the "Kings of the Fire country". He is also the father of Sora. As Furido he is mostly seen eating potatoes.
Kiba Inuzuka - A supporting character in Naruto. He is part of Team 8. He and his nin-dog Akamaru fight together as a team.
Koharu Utatane - A former member of Team Tobirama, together with Hiruzen Sarutobi and Homura Mitokado. She and Homura now form the Konoha Council.
Komugi - A Genin from Konohagakure.
Konohamaru Sarutobi - Named after the village he lives in: Konoha, is the grandson of the Third Hokage and by extension the nephew of Asuma Sarutobi.

Madara Uchiha - Also known as Tobi in the Akatsuki, formerly appeared to be Zetsu's subordinate.
Menma - A former member of a group of bandits originating from the Land of Rice Fields.
Might Guy - one of the supporting characters in Naruto. Fansubs have often dubbed his name as Maito Gai, a direct and unaltered transliteration of the character's name, but the second official Naruto data book (Hiden: Tō no Sho) states his name as Might Guy. The English version of the anime and manga both use Might Guy as well.
Mizuki - A childhood friend and fellow Ninja Academy instructor of Iruka Umino. However, he now has far from a good relationship with Iruka, and was the first villain to appear in the Naruto Anime and Manga.
Moegi - The friend of Konohamaru and Udon. She is the kunoichi in the Genin-team led by Ebisu. Her cheeks seem to always have a red blush to them. Moegi appears to have a crush on Konohamaru, and idolizes Sakura Haruno. She also seems to fall for Sasuke Uchiha's charm after he crushes a rock in his hand that both Moegi and Sakura proclaim as "cool".
Mrs. Akimichi - The mother of Choji Akimichi and the wife of Choza Akimichi. Like her son and husband, she appears to be rather fat.
Naruto Uzumaki - The main character in the anime and manga series Naruto.
Neji Hyuga - A branch member of the famed Hyuga clan.
Nekobaa - An old woman who lives in an abandoned city together with her granddaughter Tamaki. She lives with lots of cats, including talking ones (probably summons), like Denka and Hina.
Orochimaru - One of the Konohagakure's three legendary ninja or Sannin, and is known as the "Giant Snake" (due to his affinity to snakes).
Raido Namiashi - serves as the Third Hokage's assistant during the Chunin Exams, and is characterized by a large scar on his left cheek. "Namiashi" means "walking pace" while "Raido" means "following blindly."
Rock Lee - A supporting character in the Naruto series. He is a member of Team Guy. He is a hard-working person, and is very proficient in Taijutsu, though he is unable to perform Ninjutsu or Genjutsu.
Sai - One of many nameless orphans recruited into Konoha's secret branch of the ANBU, Root, Sai was raised and conditioned to have no personality or personal connections.
Sakura Haruno - The name Haruno means "spring" and Sakura means "cherry blossom", which is cherished in Japan due to its beauty and almost tragically short life span (cherry blossoms have historically been associated with samurai). In Japanese, Haru no Sakura means "cherry blossom of spring", which may be an origin of the name.
Sasuke Uchiha - Sasuke's given name comes from the legendary ninja Sarutobi Sasuke. His surname, Uchiha, is another way of pronouncing uchiwa, or a "paper fan", which is actually the Uchiha clan symbol.
Shibi Aburame - Called "Gen Aburame" in the English Naruto Trading Card Game (Also in the official Naruto Character Profile book episodes 38- 80), is the father of Shino Aburame. The second databook says that he is "a self-possessed figure, the pride of Aburame," suggesting that he may be the leader of the Aburame clan.
Shiho - Works on the cryptology squad that was tasked by Shikamaru Nara to decipher the code left by Jiraiya after he was killed by Pain.
Shikaku Nara - Is the father of Shikamaru Nara. Shika means "deer" but shikaku can mean "assassin." He is the father of Shikamaru and the husband of Yoshino Nara. He is rarely seen in either manga or anime, but when he is seen, he greatly resembles his son with the exception of his more matured appearance and the few scars on his face.
Shikamaru Nara - A ninja from Konohagakure. He is a member of Team 10 led by Asuma Sarutobi along with his teammates Choji Akimichi and Ino Yamanaka. Currently, Shikamaru is the fourth most popular character in the Naruto series.
Shino Aburame - A Chunin from Naruto's graduating year (originally from Kurenai Yuhi's Genin Team 8 along with Hinata Hyuga and Kiba Inuzuka). As a part of Aburame clan tradition, Shino was infused at birth with a special breed of insects that feed on chakra. In return, the insects attack and do other tasks as he commands.
Shizune - The assistant of Tsunade and a talented Medic-nin. Shizune is quite close to Tsunade, one of the few people Tsunade will trust with absolute certainty and a fairly talented and capable ninja in her own right, often using jutsu involving poison (such a Poison Mist and Prepared Needle Shot).
Tamaki - A young girl who lives in an abandoned city together with her grandmother Nekobaa. They lives with lots of cats, including talking ones (probably summons), like Denka and Hina.
Tenten - A supporting character in Naruto. She is the female member of Team Guy, teammate of Rock Lee and Neji Hyuga, and specializes in throwing weapons by summoning them from specially prepared scrolls.The change in her outfit from the manga to the anime was her shirt was blue not pink. The animators thought she should have "warmer" colors.
Tenzo - The temporary leader of Kakashi Hatake's Team 7, consisting of Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, and Sai. "Yamato" is actually a codename given to him for the purposes of joining Team 7, his real name being Tenzo (テンゾウ, Tenzō). Yamato, however, seems to prefer going by his codename while near his teammates.
Tonbo Tobitake - A Konoha Chunin who wraps his entire face with bandages.
Tsume Inuzuka - Mother of Hana and Kiba Inuzuka. "Tsume" means "claw" or "talon." Like most Inuzuka clan members, Tsume is tough, but cares for her family.
Tsunade - A supporting character in the anime and manga series Naruto. She took over the direction of Konohagakure after Hiruzen Sarutobi died, thus becoming the Fifth and present Hokage.
Udon - The friend of Konohamaru and Moegi. He is in the Genin-team led by Ebisu. He seems to have a perpetually runny nose and seems to be very sleepy. Udon states many times that he loves math, as he is usually seen writing math problems during class. Udon idolizes Sasuke Uchiha, stating that if he was lucky enough he would be just like Sasuke. "Udon" is also a type of Japanese noodle.
Yakumo Kurama - The last surviving member of the main branch of the Kurama clan, and as such, the heiress to the clan. She inherited the clan's kekkei genkai in its entirety, giving her the ability to cast illusions that are so powerful that they can actually produce real effects. She often uses paintings as a conduit to cast these illusions, causing reality to reflect what is on the painting.
Yoroi Akado - A part of the three-man team of ninja from Otogakure posing as ninja from the Konohagakure, along with Kabuto Yakushi and Misumi Tsurugi. His name (meaning armor) along with Kabuto (Helmet) and Tsurugi (Sword), they make a helmet-armor-sword trio.
Yoshino Nara - The mother of Shikamaru Nara and the wife of Shikaku Nara.
