It would seems I have stumbled across (after a little proding from a friend) upon this rather nice (it would seem) bowler hat. The question is, should I buy? I've been musing upon getting a bowler hat for a while (as well as a top hat) - but it seems now I have actually found opportunity to do so I've become uncertain... Hmm... this seems a rather short post. Filling up space...

Go there in person and try it on, especially to get a feel for how thick it is! Topshop never gives sizes for hats, the lads are so lucky! Anyways, back to what I was going to say: if it's thick I'd say go for it, if not then gentleman's emporium might be better value for money (how much do they charge you for shipping?).

I personally had a bowler once- felt, nice thing... Held pretty well... Until I had it drooped upon by those darned rain clouds... It then promptly lost shape and became a rather amorphous flattenend scrap of felt...>_< Moral of the story? If you get it wet, do NOT let it lose shape. It will be irreversibly altered. (Mine came from Hot Topic, by the by- I haven't the foggiest whether your great land possesses such stores, cap'n. But it's another place to think about if so...)
Also, I had a query of another form of hat. Fedoras...I've come to adore them, and have had three to date-(One also became a lump of flattened felt due to that atrocious adversary known as precipitation) the other two are wonderful additions to MOST wardrobes.
It seems like the style has been around for some time- but didn't particularly become...ah...propper(?) till the, what...20's, 30's? The swing era...(one of my favorite times, just for the dance alone if nothing else) But would a fedora compliment ones choices within our fashions? Shrug... Not trying to take over your thread, of course, Captain. *tips hat*

To my shame my bowler hat I got from a fancy dress shop.. But despite being mad of cardboard and slave worker it has served me well over, surviving even the very worst that the weather may throw at me! And still be vaguely hat shaped as well!

I got mine at Anchor Blue several years ago, and I'm still absolutely in love with it. I've gotten it wet, trampled upon, attacked by small children, and it still keeps its shape. Plus, it was only about $20!
