Kovu followed the female's lead, trailing closely after her, and when he saw fit, bent down beside her and took a quick lap of water. He quietly watched his reflection in the water sharpen and distort as his tongue almost rythmically penetrated the surface of the bubbling stream.
Content after a few moments of steady drinking, he motioned toward Corgi, soundlessly telling her they should probably head upstream right now if they wanted to get a meal before nightfall.
He could pick up a faint scent of some sort of large animal to the east; the direction opposite of the river's flow. Perhaps there was some sort of spring up ahead?

She nodded at Kovu and finished up at the river. Almost immideately the smell of prey hit her nostrils, making them flare. Following the scent her aderline was running high, her muscles taunt.
Minutes later the scent had gotten stronger and identifiable. It was a deer allright. It was just a bit aways. She turned to Kovu as if to say, ready?
