A few months ago I went about buying a new guild, I ended up buying from our guy Radmir, but before that I did a lot of looking at people trying to sell one sub guilds for 50k, and while those people are obviously daft there were just as many trying to sell a six sub dirty for 30k. This set me about trying to quantify the value of a guild, and while I have my thoughts on the matter pretty well mapped out they're just my thoughts, so I'd like other peoples thoughts, reasons, and arguments to help refine the theory and eventually build a pricing guide

To be very brief for right now, on average, guild's are valued at 10-15k and then 500-1500g for every sub up to a certain amount.
I'll post more on my thoughts later.

Some basic points in my theory
(all of this assumes the average buyer)
A brand new guild is worth approximately 9,500g
To me and many other people, the guild ID is worthless
The main focus of wealth in a guild is the subforum, it also has the most damage potential
The value associated with subforums grows in a dynamic gradient around two high effectiveness zones (2 and 7)
After 9 subforums guilds start to become impractical for startup buyers, around 13 they start to detract from the value
The value of the guild account is highly volatile and dependent on the number of subforums; Also values less than one subforum or between one and the next contribute very little if anything to the value of a guild
Reputable venders can charge more because they are seen as safe and reliable. Similarly responsiveness and attitude on behave of the seller can easily be the difference that loses the sale.
A cleaned guild is worth more if the buyer knows what was cleaned; I won't pay any more for a guild marked cleaned if it was just a handful of threads and three users. This is important only recently as now a cleaned guild will read as having 0 posts and 1 member.. If you have a guild such as mentioned with less than a hundred posts and maybe 30 threads it may be better to sell the guild at the slight discount so that it appears you care about the customer's wallet, whether you do or not

Actually. I just half the price of the guild + subforums like it were something I could sell back to the stores.
Like my guild has three subforums, so if I wanted to sell it, I'd offer 13,500 for it. :l

Its funny how different things matter to people deppending on their reasons for purchasing a guild. Most people who are new to the guild will jump on the number of subs, and the money in the guild account. Those who have been around the block a few times will look at the ID number, members/posts/cleaned aswell as the subs to get a better feel of the guild.
If your looking to make money the guilds which have been or are highly successful(sp) will make more money because they come with that selling point. Sadly that doesn't come into play very often. If you have a great guild why would you want to give it up?
There should be a formal list of information which people should supply on the guild, just so that new people know not just to post that they have a guild for sale. The more useful information provided the easier it is to sell.
I price my guilds at what I see as a fair price, I don't have set prices or catergories as such because each guild has something different. A guild with 0 subs I will sell for around 11k providing it has some money in its account.

There's one thing on which we can all agree: -> A USED GUILD SELLS FOR LESS THAN A NEW ONE!
I spend a lot of time in the registered guilds forum and always see some people trying to sell their used and dirty 4 subforums guild for 30k, which I always find pretty stupid. A guild is basicly like a car: as soon as it has been used, it lose some of its value.
Now, trying to find a standard price for guilds is kind of hard since the prices change due to a lot of things, and especially according to the availability of guilds on the market. The more people are selling guilds, the lower the price will get because most vendors will drop their price to sell their guilds quickly. And the more people are buying guilds, the higher the price will get. Usually, a guild sells for between 50%-75% of the original price. From what I've saw in th last few weeks, the price seems to get lower because there isn't a lot of buyers right now, but there's still room for people who are ready to spend time bumping their threads until a good buyer comes.
My best advice for people who want to make quick money selling guilds is to buy as low as possible (possibly around 10k), and sell for an acceptable price (check the other vendors around and see what price they ask for, and lower it a bit if needed). And for people who just want to get rid of their useless guild, either sell it for a reasonnable price or be ready to wait. Also, always stay open to offers that are lower that what you ask for and for item/gold combo. Remember that what you want is to get rid of something you don't use anyway, so anything close to what you ask is good. How close is for you to decide, but I usually accept up to 10% lower without asking for more (for example, 27k instead of 30k).

Some people see members as a burden. Some see them as an asset. If you've got 300 members and only 3 post and are active its not really worth much...just a chore of having to get rid of 300 members
