You could talk to the library about it and have them place one of those magnetic strips inside it that prevent people from taking the book out without borrowing them.

I'm thinking of putting a symbol on the spine; two interlocked question marks.

It's gone!
I went to check on it today, and it wasn't where I left it!
I don't know if library staff mistakenly picked it up or what, but it's not where I left it! Whoo!

I will be searching the library either late tonight or tomorrow to see if I can find it!

It feels so cool to know that someone's picked it up and it's... out of my hands.

That's a really cool idea.
I may try seeing if I could do it somehow.

Maybe I would just leave it in the Japanese room to be used. Lots of people always draw on the boards in there.
