Good story. It seems a bit confusing as to the scenes but, maybe that is my own incompetence ^_^

It's supposed to be a bit confusing at first, but it then clears up, as well as some secrets, as the story goes on. Oh and I'll have the next chapter soon, so just wait a lil longer! wink

Prologue

Kayumi was by herself this time. She was riding this mission out alone, no Sayuki, only council members and stiff employees. They were going to totally different galaxies, which was rather odd since they were usually never apart, but that was the wish of the Elders and there was nothing that they could do about it. The Elders’ wish was final.
“Kayumi! Come on the, the ship is about to leave!” Kayumi snapped out of her trance, looking toward her humanoid alien cat friend, Akila.
“Yeah, I’m coming Aki!” she replied, walking up the ship’s landing.
“What were you daydreaming about Kayumi?” asked Akila once Kayumi reached her, her tail happily swishing about her.
“Oh, nothing, just thinking about the mission. They didn’t really tell me about my assignment.” They entered the elevator that would take them to the bridge.
“Oh, which reminds me that I’ve got something to tell you then.” Akila’s eyes darted to the hidden camera before leaning forward and speaking so softly that Kayumi could barely hear her. “Everyone’s going to keep an eye on you and your not allowed to participate in any type of combat.” Kayumi’s eyes widened slightly but quickly returned to normal.
“Interesting. I wonder why.” she stated softly, her face emotionless, before she started another subject, trying to seem as if those words were never said. “So how have you been Aki-chan?” The alien cat girl snorted at her nickname.
“Stop putting chan at the end of my name Kayumi. You’ve been letting those foolish humans influence your thoughts child.” Kayumi raised a slight eyebrow at her friend’s response, but was smiling slyly in the back of her head. Good cover up Akila.
“Humans aren’t foolish Aki. They’re just not as technologically advanced as we are.” Replied Kayumi, shaking her finger slightly at her. “And also, stop calling me child. I may be young in body but not mentally.” Before Akila could reply, the elevator ‘dinged’ and the doors opened.
“It took you two long enough.” Face to face Kayumi’s eyes fell upon the tall, brooding form known as Capt. Janat Azaria. Akila gulped slightly while Kayumi stood there with a slightly raised eyebrow.
“Didn’t know you were expecting us.” Kayumi replied coolly, causing the man to twitch slightly, in which a small smirk appeared on Kayumi’s face. Sayuki was becoming an influence on her.
“Come, we have things to discuss”, he said gruffly, ignoring Kayumi’s smart mouth remark.

Chapter 1: Imprisonment, Visions, and Memories Part 1

Much to Kayumi’s dislike, the door closed in front of her face and she heard the click of the lock, which caused her to growl slightly. The meeting had not gone well, even though Kayumi had kept her mouth shut with no snide remarks until the end, which was when Capt. Azaria told her that she would be looked in her room till further notice. She couldn’t stop herself from saying anything then, he had pushed a button there. She did not like being locked up. Much to her displeasure though, when she calmed down and tried to sweet talk her way out of it she found herself being dragged by force to her room. They were lucky that she had enough sense not to attack them.
“Jerks.” she muttered slightly, her eyes glaring at the door before yelling angrily. “When will I get out of this hell-hole?!!!!” She punched the door, creating a small dent and would’ve pounded it till her knuckles bled if it wasn’t for the fact that a barrier of electricity turned itself on and gave her a painful shock. Kayumi stumbled back slightly, holding her fist back in pain.
“They must have really wanted me to stay in here.” She said, smiling sadistically. She moved her finger from her hand to examine the burn she received. A soft glow over came the painful, burning mark, causing the pain to disappear and for the injury to heal causing her to give sigh of relief. “They’re lucky that I have the ability to heal myself.”
Kayumi turned her head, twisting her body so that she could see the room that she was being forced to stay in. It was decently sized room with a bed, a desk, and an adjoining bathroom. She walked forward, letting herself fall onto the plush, full-size mattress that was to be her bed for the next few weeks. She brushed a few locks of silver and black hair and looked up toward the ceiling. Suddenly, the ceiling contorted as if morphing into something else, but as soon as it started, it disappeared.
“What the…” Kayumi sat up, alarmed, her eyes wide and her hand over her fast-beating heart. “Did the ceiling just…” She shook her head, resting her forehead in the palms of her hands. “No, it was just a hallucination, nothing more nothing less.”
She swung her legs over the edge of the bed, feet lightly touching the floor, her head hanging low. Taking off her jacket, she laid it on the bed, before standing up and walking toward the bathroom. Opening the bathroom door, she walked in, the lights automatically turning themselves on as she entered the room. Putting her hand under the water nozzle, it automatically turned on, sending the soothing hot water running down her fingers. She splashed some water onto her face, shaking it off before groping around for a towel. Drying her face off, she looked up finding a mirror in front her, but not seeing her own face. What she saw caused her to scream.
“What the…!” She backed up, hitting the wall before sliding downwards onto her knees in shock. Before her eyes was a dark angel with blood red eyes, filled with malice and hate. She had long, white hair, that was tainted with blood and she smiled viciously toward Kayumi. The water faucet was still running, put water was not flowing from it. It was blood.
The dark angel reached out from the mirror toward Kayumi, hands dripping with blood, beckoning her to come, put Kayumi did not respond. The blood overflowed the sink, dunning to the floor. A crippling pain reached her forehead causing her to scream out in pain as bright light brought itself forth from a crystal that had formed, causing the dark angel to shrink back in pain, withdrawing back to wince it came. The mirror shattered, raining glass upon the sink and the bathroom floor, but Kayumi did not see because she had fallen unconscious.

A young cadet ran down the hallway upon hearing Kayumi’s horrified scream. Upon reaching the door, he heard the sound of something, which caused a look of slight fear and worry to overcome his face. Knocking on the door, he called her name out, but when no response came, he slid the keycard through the slot, and with a small ‘beep’ the door slid open and he ran in. Seeing that Kayumi was not in the immediate area, he looked toward the bathroom. The light was on. He quickly ran in and shook her
“Ms. Kinomori! Ms. Kinomori! Wake up!” Kayumi lay limply on the floor, a dark red crystal emitting a dark, luminous light on her forehead. The water was still running, flowing over and pooling around the sink, stretching outward toward her.
The crystal slowly changed to a soft blue, before sinking back into her forehead. Her hand twitched ever so slightly and she slowly opened her gray eyes, looking groggily towards the cadet. She looked around before her eyes suddenly widened and she backed, sitting herself up, surprising him.
“Where is she?! Where is she?!!!!” Kayumi cried, eyes wide, shrinking up against the wall in the horror.
“Ms. Kinomori, there is no one here. It’s only you.” said the cadet, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Kayumi visibly calmed down, resting her forehand in one of her hands, looking at the floor in a shocked, but confused way.
“I know what I saw. That was not a hallucination that was real.” replied Kayumi, lifting her head up and looking straight at the cadet with unwavering gray eyes. “I know what I saw.”
The cadet looked slightly shocked, but quickly regained his composure.
“Ms. Kinomori, if I may suggest-”, started the cadet, but quickly silenced when Kayumi raised her hand in a gesture to tell him to stop talking.
“I know what you are going to say Aidien-” A slight look of shock appeared on his face, “-but I am perfectly sane and I don’t need a brain scan to tell me so.” The cadet stayed quiet, contemplating his thoughts, but Kayumi paid no attention to him. She looked around her bathroom seeing the shattered glass and noticing that the water was still running. Limply lifting her hand up, she twitched it to the right and the water quickly turned off.
“Ms. Kinomori-”
“Kayumi”
“Ehh Kayumi, I may suggest that you call the janitorial services to clean all this glass and water up from the floor. Meanwhile, I need to make my report.”
“Report?!?!?!” cried Kayumi, eyes livid as she turned to glare at him. The cadet backed up slightly, shocked at Kayumi’s sudden change in attitude.
“Ye-yes Ms. Kino-err Kayumi. With an event such as this, it is expected for me to make a report so-” He did not get to finish.
“I don’t care about that. You will not tell anyone anything about what happened! If you-” Her eyes narrowed, vivid with malice. “-tell anyone about this, I’ll make sure that you regret it. Understand.” The cadet backed up, bumping into the wall and nodding his head, before quickly running out.
“Sayuki, old friend.” muttered Kayumi, eyes low as she leaned against the wall looking toward the ceiling. “Where are you when I need you…?”

A smirk fell upon her face, her dark eyes glinting mischievously as she cleaned her nails with a pocketknife. She gently pushed her dark blue hair from her face, only for her face to turn into a look of disgust when she felt a piece of saliva touch her face. Wiping it from her face and she looked up at the yelling man that she had earlier been ignoring with a vein popping out of her forehead in anger. She flipped the pocketknife closed, putting a hand on her hip.
Don’t spit on me.” She growled her eyes narrowed in a vicious glare.
“WHAT DID YOU SAY?!!!” yelled the man, the vein on his forehead growing larger, if it was even possible.
“Yell at me all you want, but I would appreciate it if you didn’t slobber all over my lovely face.” replied the girl, cooling down and staring at him indifferently.
“HOW DARE YOU TALK LIKE THAT TO ME!!!!!!! I AM YOUR SUPERIOR-!!!!!!!!!” He kept on talking, but not a word was seemingly heard, for the girl acted as if she were deaf to his raving. She flipped her pocket-knife back open and began cleaning her nails once again. This continued on for a few minutes until she gave a small sigh.
‘When will he shut up, I’m shut up, I’m starting to get bored.’ She let out another small sigh; closing her pocketknife and shoving it back in her pocket. Her eyes wandered across the room, landing on the window that showed a clear view of the black abyss that was known as outer space. How she wished she was out there, whether than in her current place.
“ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME?!!!!!!!!!!!!!” He raised his hand to strike her, but immediately stopped when she caught his hand midway. People gasped, thinking that the outcome of this was going to come out bad.
“This conversation is pointless. I’m leaving.” said Sayuki, an eerie calm about her, causing a bit of shock to the people around her when she didn’t go into a rage about him almost slapping her.
She dropped his hand, letting it dangle by his side. The man gaped openly at her receding form in surprise. The door opened and she stepped through, letting it close behind her. Her eyes found a few crewmembers who had once been by the door, eavesdropping. They crowded around her asking questions, which she would’ve answered and told them an elaborate story, but this time she didn’t feel like it. She shoved passed them, causing them to give her an odd look and start muttering.
“I wonder what happened. Sayuki doesn’t usually get so worked up about getting yelled at.” Stated one of the crewmembers, sending a curious look Sayuki’s to her retreating form.

Sayuki Safernel barged angrily into her room, looking blindly around for something to smash. She turned toward the wall, smashing her fists into, pounding angrily until she was out of breath and her knuckles bled. She slumped against the wall, fury released, only to be replaced with sadness. But this pain was not from old memories. Sayuki closed her eyes, letting her forehead rest on the palm of her hand, eyes closed.
“Why… why when every time someone raises their hand at me, that memory comes back.” She muttered, images flashing in front of her face.

He raised his hand to her slapping her, long nails digging into her skin as he did so. Her dark red eyes clouded over with tears, bottom lip twitching. Her small pale hands reached up, touching the red, bleeding claw marks on her puffy cheek and she let out a small slob, causing the man in front of her to grow as if growing angrier. Large, bat wings burst from his back and his already long nails grew to create sharp claws. The little girl crawled back only to find herself bumping into a wall, dark red eyes filled with fear before she started wailing for help.
“Please, don’t hurt me! I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” sobbed the little girl, putting her small hands defensively in front of her face.
“I said shut up!!!!!!!” He growled reaching his hand up once again, claws glinting in the moonlight as he-

“NOOO!!! STOP!!!!” Sayuki screamed, clutching her head in pain, forcing the memory to stop. She held back tears, lifting her head up. “I thought… I thought I had gotten over this…” A picture of Kayumi’s reassuring smile appeared in front of her face.
“Damn it Kayumi, you’re always there to pester, but you’re never there when I need someone to talk to.” She laid her head on her arms. “Especially since you’re the only one who knows about my past.”
