I got my nipples pierced on July 4 and they've almost healed (praise hail Satan [note: humor]). They were pierced with a 16ga needle and I'm wearing 16ga barbells, but I was speaking to another friend of mine who is a piercing apprentice with an APP piercer and she said that the gauge of the jewelry is too small and the piercings are likely to reject/migrate. Of course, I don't want this to happen.

My piercer is my husband's best friend and works in a professional setting but he is not an APP piercer and he did my piercings for free. I know, you get what you pay for, but he has pierced a lot of my friends and my husband and none of them have had problems with their piercings.

So my questions:

1. What is the best gauge of jewelry for n****e piercings?
2. How much discomfort is involved with stretching n****e piercings?

Thank you kindly, sirs and madams.

I've always been under the impression that the smaller gauges used on n****e piercings don't work out so well, generally. Migration and rejection like he said. I'm not saying they WONT heal, but they're less likely to stay put.

I think a lot of it has to do with the size of the breasts. Larger breasts put more pressure on the n****e and thus require thicker gauges. I've always had piercers recommend 12g. Mine are at 14(B-cup boobs) and have definitely migrated around a bit. Don't know for sure if this is due to the size or not. They're doing alright now.

I'd suggest stretching up a size once you're all healed and happy.

Don't take my word as perfect advice, though. I'm no professional piercer. Good luck!

Well, I looked on the BME wiki and it said 16ga or higher is the size to use for female n****e piercings. The placement is fine and my boobs aren't huge or anything (34C) so I think they'll be okay.

I still might start stretching them up a few sizes but considering how much it hurt when I actually got them pierced I'm dreading doing that.

I would stretch up to at least a 14ga for female n****e piercings. I had mine done at 14ga. 12ga is better though.

Male n****e piercings are okay at smaller sizes though.

How long should I wait after they've healed 100%? I mean, I've stretched my ears but that's entirely different than stretching nipples. I don't want to wait too long because I don't want them to migrate or reject, but I don't want to do it too soon, either. :/

I have a feeling that I'm going to have to go to the APP piercer and ask him, which sucks because its a 45 minute drive. sad

I would wait 6 weeks and try it out. To be honest, they NEVER really "fully" heal. If you are dealing with crusties now, it may be years before that goes away... if ever. ._."

I totally wouldn't worry about them migrating or rejecting totally though. You said they moved a bit, maybe it was just settling after swelling? Just a guess. Hmm...

You know... I don't think I've heard from someone who's tried organics or glass.

I have that problem too. I have my n****e's double pierced, the oldest ones being like a year and 10 months old and still crusty.
