First there was the band Wire, a progressive punk outfit from the late 70's; while staying active for a few years developing a strongly avant-garde sound, they were dropped by their record label.
In 1980, Colin Newman (vocalist/guitarist) and drummer Robert Gotobed started working on Colin Newman''s experimental solo records, while the other two members, Graham Lewis and Bruce Gilbert, started another, even stranger project called Dome.
Mid 80's the fellows restarted Wire, while Lewis started his own solo project, called He Said on the side. In 1991, Gotobed left the band, thus Wire was now Wir
They broke up again in the early 90's, while Lewis and Newman went on making more solo and short-lived collaborative efforts, until in early 00's they reformed for the third time; also on the side Newman began another band called Githead with members from his Swim~ label. They are still performing as Wire today, though Gilbert has (sadly) left the band.

Now that I've completed my short biography on the collective effort of WIRE, does anyone else in this forum like this band? I think they're incredible, real geniuses when it comes to art rock and electronica, and I want to know what anyone/everyone else thinks.
